Getting started with Adobe Spark Video First Things First: • Download the app on your iPhone or iPad or go to Adobe Spark Video on your computer. • You can login using an Adobe password or your Facebook or Google accounts. o To create a free Adobe ID, go to https://tinyurl.com/ya3vtyve Storytelling in Medical Education | COMSEP 2018 Pre-Conference Workshop Meghan Treitz, Jan Hanson, Lindsey Lane, Jenny Soep, TJ Jirasevijinda, Daniel Weinshenker Title Type in a title for your story. This can be edited later. Choose a template Adobe Spark Video has different structures you can try out. For now, choose Make Up My Own. Choose a photo to use Tap the + in the middle of the slide frame. When you tap on the photo icon, it will bring up a variety of places from which you can obtain an image: your iPad (or iPhone if that is the device you are using), your Google account, Dropbox, Facebook, Lightroom, or Creative Cloud. We encourage you to use your own image – since this is your story! However, you can also use the “find photos” option to search for Creative Commons images to use in your story. If you choose to “find a photo”, it will prompt you to type in a search term. Use the Layout and Themes buttons at the top of the screen for additional options. Add Narration Now it’s time to add your narration! Press the red record button and HOLD IT as you speak your story. Hints: • Find a quiet spot to record to minimize background noise • Hold the record button for several additional seconds once you are done speaking so your video does not end abruptly • If you don’t like what you recorded, simply press the red record button and do it again! • If you have multiple slides, you will record narration separately for each slide (and you can subsequently re-record the narration for each slide individually) Add music Music can help create a mood for your video. It can also minimize some of the background noise that invariably occurs when using the microphone on your device. There are many songs available to use through the app. You can also use a song from your device (swipe all the way to the end of the list). The play button under the music options allows you to listen to the highlighted song. Note that this volume bar controls the volume of the MUSIC (not the overall video). After you preview your video, you might wish to adjust the music volume so it doesn’t cover up your voice – or turn it up if the music is too hard to hear. Preview your video Finally – it’s time to see what you made! Note that the play button at the bottom of the screen is to preview an entire video. The play button just below the image frame will only preview this one slide. This is to preview just this one slide This is to preview the entire video Saving Your Video After previewing your video, you will be given the option to share it. You can also share it by tapping the “share” button in the top right corner of the editing screen. After sharing, you always have the option to edit it some more. share button Choose the method by which you wish to share your video: Facebook, Twitter, email (a link), Message (a link), copy link to clipboard, or download into your Camera Roll. You can sequentially save in any or all of the different modes. If you wish to have your video on the Adobe website for others to view, slide the “feature” bar to on (green). Green means your video will be on the Adobe website for public viewing. .
