To celebrate the prize (His second award on three albums), the record label now release this album on green vinyl. The album is based on a long collaboration with the mariachi death surf orchestra, Los Plantronics, and the recording and songwriting of the album has taken place at the rehearsal room with Los Plantronics. Other musicians participating is David Wallumrød on organ and Martin Windstad on percussion. It is recorded at Christian Engfelt, mixed by Dan Weston, and masterd by Greg Calbi. Bendik Brænne (f.1987 Bærum) won the prize in the country category for his debut album "How to Fake It in America" in 2013 and "The Last Great Country Swindle in (2017). He was also nominated in the same category for his second album, "Do you know who I think I am." As a saxophonist, pianist and organizer, he has contributed to a lot of albums, including for artists like Dumdum Boys, Kurt Nilsen, Amund Maarud, Odd Nordstoga, Greni and Jonas Alaska. REGNSKAP 28/01 Barnas jazzscene 03 ÅRET SOM HAR GÅTT Nasjonal jazzscene har en visjon om å ”være en arena med betydning for hele det norske jazzmiljøet og en av Europas viktigste og beste scener for jazz og improvisasjonsmusikk”, og et formål om å ”være en formidler av jazz og improvisasjonsmusikk med aktualitet, bredde og høy kvalitet”. Det norske jazzmiljøet kjempet i lang tid for å etablere en nasjonal jazzscene. Etter en prøvedrift ble det i 2005 inngått en samarbeidsavtale med Cosmopolite og etablering av klubben Belleville. Etter to års samarbeid mistet Cosmopolite lokalene, og Nasjonal jazzscene nådde det endelige målet med selvstendig etablering på Victoria. 2017 var det niende året med konserter i egne lokaler på Karl Johan og føyde seg inn rekken av gode konsertår. Målet vårt var å presentere 180 konserter for 28 000 besøkende, og resultatet ble 180 konserter og 28 643 besøkende. Totalt har 882 musikere spilt på Victoria og av dette var 259 kvinner (ca 30%). Vi videreførte Barnas jazzscene, der de yngste talentene får vise seg fram på landets fremste jazzklubb. Vi har presentert en god miks av unge dyktige talenter fra inn- og utland i serien Uhørt, samt det beste av norske og internasjonale artister i hovedprogrammet. Vi har hatt god og stabil publikumsoppslutning og en solid økonomi. Ut fra det programmet vi har presentert og de tilbakemeldingene vi får fra media, kollegaer, publikum og artister, mener vi at vi at vi holder posisjonen som en av de ledende jazzklubbene i Europa.

    Vossa Jazz 2019 Rapport RAPPORT 2019 12. -14. APRIL 1 Vossa Jazz 2019 Rapport Vossa Jazz vart skipa til i palmehelga for 46. gong I løpet av festivalen fann vel 50 tilskipingar stad der i alt 45 band medverka med 243 musikarar, av desse 43 studentar frå tre av dei høgare utdanningane innan jazz i Noreg. I tillegg deltok 35 elevar frå to ungdomsstorband og vel 60 born på scena under Bad- najazz. Saman sytte desse flotte artistane for store musikalske opplevingar frå 18 ulike scenar, både inne og ute. Med godt besøk på gratiskonsertar, gjester, akkreditert presse, musikarar og medarbeidarar hadde festivalen total om lag 17 300 konsertbesøk. 203 knallgode medarbeidarar sytte for at gjennomføringa av Vossa Jazz 2019 gjekk etter planen. Fin fest. Og en bra åpning på Vossa Jazz 2019. Jeg tror faktisk gamlefar Keita ble litt rørt, der han sto. FRODE BJERKESTRAND, BERGENS TIDENDE Vossa Jazz er skikkelig voksen. SCENISK FOLKEDANS – HVOR GÅR VEIEN VIDERE? Internasjonalt er festivaler og viktige scener for samtidsdans stadig mer opptatt av det som skjer i randsonen av de moderne danseteknikkene og stilartene som ble utviklet i kjølvannet av fornyere som Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Pina Bausch og Sasha Waltz Det er kanskje en konsekvens av det som Lise Nordal uttrykte i et intervju på Danseinformasjonens web-sider: ”... jeg synes at samtidsdansen generelt – både hjemme og ellers i verden – står litt stille og på vent”. Sånn sett er moderne samtidsdans under press fra andre danseuttrykk som utvikles rundt om i verden. Sceniske forestillinger basert på street dance, jazz, flamenco, latin og rituelle danser fra urgamle tradisjoner er eksempler på stilarter som presser seg inn i samtidsdansbegrepet med nye teknikker og alternativ estetikk. Det er i dette landskapet våre egne folkedanstradisjoner befinner seg når de løftes ut av dansefestene og inn i det sceniske rom. Tiden er moden til ikke bare å utforske muligheter, men også til å få internasjonal oppmerksomhet. Både Belinda Braza (Survival) og Ådne Kolbjørnshus / Vetle Springgard (Døgeniktenes debatt, engelsk versjon) ble vist under Coda 2017 i samarbeid med Riksscenen, og tilbakemeldingene fra internasjonale gjester var oppløftende. Denne sesongen er Silje Onstad Hålien månedens artist i februar. Her vil nettopp dette landskapet speiles. I forestillingen Dei gamle er eldst trekker hun opp de historiske linjene ved å la oss møte våre første profesjonelle dansere: Rolf Bjørgan, Ingar Ranheim, Dagfinn Krogsrud, Martin Myhr, Vidar Underseth og Dag Hamre.
