Introduction
Welcome to the 2021 season of the Wanda Diamond League.
This is an incredibly important year for our athletes as they prepare for Contents the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and, less than a year later, the World 3...... How it works Athletics Championships Oregon22. 4...... Calendar Competition and training are two very different things so the Wanda Diamond League and our other one-day meetings around the world will 5...... Event disciplines give athletes the opportunity to qualify for events, earn World Ranking points and prize money and benchmark their performances against the 7...... Past Diamond competition they will face in Tokyo and then Oregon in 2022. Trophy winners
We are all working hard, in extraordinarily difficult and fast changing 11.....Statistics circumstances, to deliver events for the athletes rather than cancelling 15.....Contact and them. 2 Wanda Diamond League media guide How it works
The Wanda Diamond League showcases 32 event disciplines which are US$30,000 cash prize, a spectacular Diamond Trophy and a wild card carefully distributed among the meetings. In each of the 32 Diamond entry for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22. In case of a tie, disciplines, athletes will compete for points throughout the season in a the best legal performance of the qualification phase wins. bid to qualify for the final. Prize money Points All disciplines have the same prize money at the qualification meetings: Points per event discipline at the qualification meetings: 1st – US$10,000 5th – US$1250 1st – 8 points 5th – 4 points 2nd – US$6000 6th – US$1000 2nd – 7 points 6th – 3 points 3rd – US$3500 7th – US$750 3rd – 6 points 7th – 2 points 4th – US$2000 8th – US$500 4th – 5 points 8th – 1 point The prize money is increased for the finals: The top eight or 12 athletes (depending on the discipline) with the most 1st – US$30,000 5th – US$2500 points after the qualification meetings will be invited to compete at the 2nd – US$12,000 6th – US$2000 Wanda Diamond League final in Zurich. The winners of each discipline 3rd – US$7000 7th – US$1500 at the final will be crowned the Diamond League champions, securing a 4th – US$4000 8th – US$1000
