Tip-Off Action for Minnesota State

On Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17 and 18, the Minnesota State men’s and women’s basketball teams will host the annual Pepsi Tip-Off in Taylor Center. This season’s Pepsi Tip-Off represents the seventh year in which the Maverick women’s basketball program has participated in the event and the fifth year it has done so under the classic format. The Minnesota State women’s team is slated to face the University of Minnesota, Crookston on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. The Golden Eagles finished 6-22 overall last season and return leading scorer and rebounder Kari Score, who averaged 17.6 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. On Nov. 18 at 6 p.m., MSU entertains Bemidji State University. BSU, which posted a 13-15 ledger last season, returns center Stephanie Peterson. Peterson averaged 12 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in 2005-06 to lead the team. Last season, MSU opened the season with a split in the Pepsi Tip-Off, falling to the Friday, Nov. 17 University of Wisconsin-Stout in overtime, 89-86. The Mavericks went on to defeat l Minnesota, Crookston, 81-73, to conclude their Tip-Off action. Just a freshman, Flecia Saturday, Nov. 18 Foster posted 16 points in each of MSU’s contests, while Arin Andrews put in 25 points l Taylor Center against the Blue Devils and another 10 in the win over UMC.
