THE SUSAN BATSON (Sadie) studied with and , and is currently a member of the Actor's Studio. She appeared in the original productions of HAIR and GEORGE M on Broadway; WHO'S GOT HIS OWN at the Centre Stage in Baltimore; and, recently, in the Goodman Theatre pro­ duction of THREE PENNY OPERA. JAMES CROMWELL (Gary) has been an actor and director for seven years. He considers his most important work to have been with · the Free Southern Theatre, an integrated company which toured the South in 1965, and a guerilla theater on the lawn at the American Shakespeare Festival last season. STEFAN GIERASCH (Perowne) a graduate of nowhere, spent the 1943-1970 season on Bmadway, Off-Broadway, in movies, and on TV in , Wash­ ington, Hollywood, Milwaukee, Paris, Providence and elsewhere. His latest credits include the movie TRAVELI NG EXECUTIONER; a guest appearance on BONANZA; and ARSENIC AND OLD LACE at the Ford. Theatre. JILLIAN LINDIG (Melody) appeared with the New York Shakespeare Festival in 1966 and spent a season at the' Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven. She has recently completed a seven month tour with the National company of CACTUS FLOWER. Miss Lindig has done extensive work in films, TV, and photographic modeling. EDWARD ZANG (Maurice) appeared in New York last season as Harold in BOYS IN THE BAND, and previously as the Dauphin in at Lin­ c()ln Center. He has worked extensively in major regional theaters and is the co-founder of the Charles Playhouse where he just played, among other roles, HAM LET. Mr. Zang recently co l1pleted a European tour as Smithers in THE EMPEROR JONES with . MARGARET BRAIDWOOD (Pixie Bosanquet) was born and trained in England and emigrated to Canada fourteen years ago. She appeared on TV, radio and in theater there, then came to the U. S. to work with the Company and did eight Broadway shows. This season Miss Braid­ wood was in the production of SAVED. HEATHCOTE WILLIAMS (Author) is the author of the novel THE SPEAKERS and the .play, TH E LOCAL STIGMATIC, done in New York at the Actor's Play­ house in 1969.

JOHN HIRSCH (Director) is the Founder and former Artistic Director of the Manitoba Theater Center in Canada , where he directed MOTHER COURAGE, with , and ANDORRA. He was the Associate Director of the Shake­ speare Festival in Stratford, Canada, where he directed RICHARD III, with , , A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, HENRY IV, CHERRY ORCHARD, and SATYRICON. He has produced and directed for Canadian tele­ vision. In this country, Mr. Hirsch directed WE BOMBED IN NEW HAVEN on Broadway, and PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD, GAll LEO , and TIME OF YOUR LIFE at Lincoln Center. His future plans include directing A MASKED BALL for the Opera, and a feature length film in the fall.

JOHN SCHEFFLER (Designer) is a graduate of The Tulane School of Archi­ tecture and was an archaeologist for one year in Merida, Yucatan. He was principal designer for the Oberlin Opera Theater in 1970 and has designed the Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati, the New England Conservatory of Music, Corpus Christi Symphony and the National Opera of Chile, Santiago, Chile. His New York credits include LA CLEM NZA DI TITO at Juilliard. Mr. Scheffler is currently co-authoring a play based 0 n the novel LEVEL 7.

ROBERT KALFIN (Artistic Director) founded the Chelsea Theater Center six years ago. In addition to Chelsea prod uctions he has directed Off-Broadway; in regional theater and in Europe. He received an M.F.A. in Directing from the Yale School of Drama. Mr. Kalfin is currently' directing the new Off-Broad­ way version of TAROT (originally produced earlier this season at the Chelsea Theater Center).

MICHAEL DAVID (Executive Director) co-conceived the Third Party Project and the Hills Arts Co-operative in New Haven. Served as Productio(l Manager for the Ford Foundation's American Drama Festival. A lecturer at Yale and The New School. He received an M.F.A. in Production, Design and' Administration from the Yale School of Drama.

BURL HASH (Production Manager) is a graduate of the University of Texas and the Yale School of Drama, where he was LightLng Designer and Technical Director. He has also worked with the Island Repertory Theatre in Martha's Vineyard and the Metropolitan Opera c.ompany. Mr. Hash has been Production Manager for all Chelsea productions for the last two seasons.

The Ch elsea Theater Center of Brooklyn, in residence at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, is a non-profit, professional, producing organization. It is supported solely by contributions from private individuals, foundation s, co rporations, and government agencies as well as from our audiences.

To date, contributions offering partial support to Chelsea Theater Center programming for the current season have included grants from the Dramatists Guild Fund, the J. M. Kaplan Fund, the New York Fouodation, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Edward John Noble Foundation, the National Foundation for the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the CBS Foundation and the William C. Whitney Foundation.
