The papers of Senator Miles Poindexter of Spokane, Washington, lawyer, judge, member of Congress for one term and of the Senate for two (1911-23) including the early years of the Federal Reserve System, were given to the University of and are housed in the Alderman Library there•

The major part of this collection (750,00C items) was photo­ graphed by automatic cameras tjome time ago at a cost of $5>0Q0 for the University of Washington at Seattle and Washington State College at Pull­ man, These microfilms may be borrowed from the Washington colleges by properly qualified scholars needing them in research.

The Alderman Library at Virginia has a key to the system by which the papers are filed, and a typed "table of contents," The latter can be copied if desired for this Federal Reserve project.

The Poindexter collection is open for research by qualified students. The usual courtesies are expected in regard to quotation in print.
