The new 15,000-seat stadium, along with the 55,000-square feet Athletics Administration Building, was built on the hallowed ground of the original Blackshear Field. The original facility hosted Panther football and track teams from 1948 – 2014. PVAMU football won 11 SWAC titles and five Black College National Championships NOVEMBER during that time. The Panthers won the first three games in the new venue, all in come-from-behind fashion. The Panthers have posted a winning record in conference play in nine of the past 10 seasons, the most (7-4, 7-2 in SWAC) of any program in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
