Then the people rallied. In cities and small towns people protested and spoke out. Vigils and demonstrations were held for us to reflect and pray. People who were able stood with others to show their support for those in need. I listened to the voices and read the words of young folks I know. I was so heartened to learn that many who grew up in our community are leading others and are in the forefront of peaceful demonstrations and protests. Notably, Isa Dray, a FUUY Alumni from 2019, organized the Mass Ave demonstrations in Arlington, which seems to be drawing more people each night. My husband and I have stood out there on the corner in front of First Parish of Arlington since I learned of the demonstrations on Sunday, and I have been so proud to recognize many of you and your children (including most of the Coming of Age graduating class) putting your faith into action. Yes, I’m very tired. Yes, I’m very angry. But a glimmer of hope is shining because of the energy and wisdom of the youth in our midst.
