Mai 2017, 20:00 Infos & Karten => www.jazz-mainz.de/Scotty.html Scott Henderson (guitar) Romain Labaye (bass) Archibald Ligonnière (drums) SCOTT HENDERSON (guitar) Born in 1954, Scott Henderson grew up in an era where blues-rock was at it's peak. His formative musical years took place in South Florida where he played the clubs with various bands, playing everything from Led Zeppelin to James Brown. As he was learning his instrument, Henderson was influenced by Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, and his favorite blues guitarist Albert King. Even though Henderson claims to be more of a blues-rock player, it was the influence of jazz that led him to the style of playing and composing that he is now famous for. Scott studied arranging and composition at Florida Atlantic University, then moved to Los Angeles in 1980. He toured and recorded with Chick Corea's Elektric Band, violinist Jean-Luc Ponty, and was pleased to get the opportunity to work for four years with one of his favorite musicians, Weather Report's Joe Zawinul. He recorded two albums with the Zawinul Syndicate, "The Immigrants" and "Black Water". Henderson formed the legendary band Tribal Tech in 1984 with bassist Gary Willis, and recorded ten critically acclaimed albums. The most recent recording is "Tribal Tech X" released in March 2012. In 1991, Scott was named by Guitar World as the #1 Jazz Guitarist, and in January 1992, he was named #1 Jazz Guitarist in Guitar Player's Annual Reader's Poll.

An American screenwriter and sound designer from Northwest Indiana. He attended Ohio State University and graduated from the University of Southern California in 2011 with a MFA in film production. He took part in numerous productions for the USC School of Cinematic Arts as a sound designer. Covington co-wrote the screenplay for the 2015 film Creed, a spin-off-sequel to the Rocky film series, starring Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan, with Ryan Coogler, who also directed the film. Covington is a personal friend of Coogler, and the two worked together with Stallone to green-light the film with MGM studios. Covington wrote and directed the storyline for the MyCareer mode in the video game NBA 2K17. He also worked on the US 2017 TV series "Minimum Wage". Escajazz 2018 3, 4 E 5 Agosto V Edizione
Escajazz 2018 3, 4 e 5 agosto V edizione Il Festival Nato dalla passione di un gruppo di giovani nel 2014, il Festival Escajazz ospita oggi artisti di fama internazionale e raccoglie un folto pubblico di amanti del jazz. Il piccolo borgo di Sant’Angelo all’Esca che conta circa 700 abitanti è ormai uno dei luoghi di punta tra le manifestazioni estive di jazz in Irpinia e in Campania. La manifestazione nasce dal basso, non beneficia infatti di contributi da enti pubblici e si finanzia attraverso campagne di crowdfunding come quella di quest’anno su Musicraiser e sponsorizzazio- ni coraggiose e lungimiranti. Escajazz è una manifestazione in continua e costante crescita, dalle circa 500 presenze della pri- ma edizione, si è ormai arrivati ad una media di 2500 presenze a serata. L’interesse del pubblico è anche manifestato dalle interazioni con il sito web (oltre 60.000 visite), dalle oltre 100 imprese coinvolte negli anni, dalle 30 cantine che hanno partecipato e dal numero crescente dei soci del- l’Associazione che oggi sono più di 70 con un’età media di 25 anni. Il festival ha avuto risonanza su testate e siti web nazionali e sempre più richieste di informazioni arrivano da fuori regione. Tore Down House Tore Down House was Scott Henderson's second blues release, and he expands on the musical territory first explored on Dog Party.Henderson brings his harmonically sophisticated approach to bear on a variety of blues-based compositions.Tore Down House opens with hard-hitting funk of Dolomite, which conjures visions of 70's blaxploitation movies.The title track is a colossal blues, melding jazz-level harmonic imagination, Hendrixian scorch, and Thelma Houston's soaring vocals.Meter Maid features a Bo Diddley beat married to crunching guitars.I Hate You starts out as a hilarious parody of 50's love songs, syrupy chord changes and all, before Henderson's metallic solo takes the song into another dimension. Gittar School is an Stevie Ray Vaughn-styled vehicle with silly- but-funny lyrics.Xanax is one of the highlights, pairing Henderson's raw, no-holds- barred guitar with Thelma Houston's intense vocals.Continuum provides a respite before the hard blues-rock assault of You Get Off On Me, the heavy-hitting slow blues Mocha, and the jackhammer funk of Harpoon. The nonsensical lyrics on Tore Down House will be a turnoff to blues purists, but I kind of admire the fact that Henderson didn't try to write typical blues lyrics.The more compelling thing about Tore Down House is Henderson's expansion and re-imagination of blues- rock guitar.A stellar effort. I just noticed that in the 6 CD magazine in my car, I had forgotten what the other 5 CD's are since I slid Tore Down House in two weeks ago.
