1.0 INTRODUCTION

The proposal of Applicant Thiru S.Shankar, S/o Santhavaliyan, is made for fresh Quarry lease over an extent of 0.73.5Hectares in S.F.No. 340/6, Chittarkottai Village of & District, Tamil Nadu. It is represented by Survey of Toposheet No. 58 K/15 latitude of 9o25’05.06”N and longitude of 78o54’33.05”E with elevation of 7meters above MSL. The production capacity is proposed as 23m3 or 4 loads (Each of 6M3) per day for the 300 working in a year. By virtue of its size of lease area, the proposal falls under “B2” category.

Manager will be appointed and he will be provided with suitable communication facilities. Primary health centre is located in Chittarkottai village for medical emergencies, about 2kms away on the northern side of the proposed area for mining.

2.0 MINE CLOSURE PLAN

2.1 Steps proposed for phased restoration, reclamation of already mined out areas The mined out area shall be used for agricultural purposes.

2.2 Measures to be under taken on mine closure as per Act & Rules The mine area shall be fenced on top of open cast working with type S1 fencing as per DGMS circulars.

2.3 Mitigation measures to be undertaken for safety and restoration / reclamation of the already mined out area

There will not be any damage of land as the mining shallow upto a depth of 1.0m. To protect the environment, the Applicant will plant 100 trees after one year of mining.

As the area is dry and unfertile for the growth of hybrid varieties of plants it is proposed to plant tamarind and need for which the maximum survival rate would be 70%.
