A Story of Success History / Innovation ® A story of success History / Innovation TUNED TO PERFECTION... It took DONIC only 25 years to grow to one of the most important table tennis brands world-wide! About DONIC: Excellent results are often based on simple principles. DONIC believes in quality, innovation and speed. To be the first on the market with a new product is DONIC’s tradition, e.g. EPOX, DOTEC and the SENSO technology for blades, FOR- MULA DONIC, SOUND SYSTEM and the FAKTIS TECHNOLOGY in rubber production, functional fabric in textiles, TWIN COMPACT and SUPER COMPACT technology used for tables. Permanent innovations for more than 25 years have powered DONIC to one of the most renowned table tennis brands in the world. Jan-Ove Waldner and Jörgen Persson are analysing ... what is considered when re-developing the latest developments of DONIC blades. the materials. Events / Championships In 1987 already, only ten years after the foundation of the company, DONIC tables have been used at the World Championships in New Delhi! This story of success was repeated in 2006 when DONIC became table supplier at the 2006 LIEBHERR World Team Table Tennis Championships in Bremen, Germany and in 2007 when DONIC became the table supplier at the most important tournament in Europe, the 2007 LIEBHERR European Championships in Belgrade/Serbia. Due to its totally new and extraordinary table, DONIC had played its part in the success of these big sports events. The show court table of the 2006 LIEBHERR World Team Table Tennis Championships in Bremen, Germany and 2007 LIEBHERR European Championships in Belgrade/Serbia. In 2009 already the next two highlights will follow. DONIC is the exclusive table supplier of the 2009 LIEBHERR European Table Tennis Championships in Stuttgart/Germany and the European Veteran Championships in Porec/Croatia. Beside these above mentioned most important tournaments in Europe, DONIC became an important supplier at ITTF Pro Tour Tournaments. The German Open (2006, 2007, 2008), Taiwan Open (2005, 2006), Serbian Open (2006, 2008), Austrian Open (2007, 2008) and last but not least the European Olympic qualification tournament 2008 in France are played on DONIC tables. Players DONIC’s most famous player… is Jan-Ove Waldner. For more than 20 years without interruption (!) he belonged to the top players in the world ranking list. The Olympic Winner of Barcelona won two World Singles titles, two Vice World Champion titles and two Bronze Medals at World Championships. He is under contract with DONIC since 1993. At the Olympic Games 2004 in Athens he was the only European who reached the semi-final and this at the remarkable age of 38 years. He is called the best tabletennis player WALDNER of all times. The first DONIC top player… was the Swede Mikael Appelgren. “Äplet”, as he is called with his nickname, counts on DONIC products for more than 20 years. He is record holder at European Championships with 3 titles in Men's APPELGREN Singles Events, World Champion in Men’s Double competition and he also won 3 World Champion titles with the Swedish National Team. The third Super Swede… in the DONIC team is Jörgen Persson, also Men's Singles World Champion, European Singles Champion, Top 12 Winner, World Cup Winner - and a great sympathetic personality in table tennis. As team player he achieved 4 World Champion titles with the Swedish PERSSON National Team. At the age of 41 Jörgen will take part for the sixth time at the Olympic Games in Beijing and fight for the only title that is still missing from his collection: an Olympic Medal. The long-standing “DONIC-Sweden-tradition” will now be continued by the two most successful European youth players of the recent years: Dima Ovtcharov is no longer only Europe’s shooting star, OVTCHAROV but meanwhile belongs to the top players in the world. The 20-year-old became European Champion in team competition (2007), won the bronze medal in single competition (2007) and reached allready position 14 of the world ranking list (7/2008). Patrick Baum became Junior World Champion 2005, a big surprise at that time. Meanwhile he belongs to the German National Men’s Team and was a successful member of the DTTB (German Table Tennis Association) selection WOSIK at the Team World Championships 2008 in Guangzhou. The third German in the DONIC team is the Vice-European Champion in Men’s Single Competition of 2003, Torben Wosik, who became Vice-World Champion in Qatar in 2004 with the German National Team. At the National German Championships 2008 he presented a great performance and became German Champion in Men’s Singles 2008.
