INTRODUCTION Creating Jobs and Building a Stronger Ontario In 2017/18, the Ontario government will be investing more than $2.5 billion to repair and expand provincial highways and bridges. This includes almost $1.9 billion for Southern Ontario creating or sustaining approximately 13,300 direct and indirect jobs. PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE Ontario continuously looks at its long-term transportation infrastructure needs to determine where the greatest benefits can be realized for our economy and the lives of Ontarians. Planning beyond 2021 ensures our highways and bridges are built and maintained to support traffic levels and transportation needs for decades to come. Identified on the following pages are some projects in the planning stages that could support growth, improve traffic flow and increase safety in southern Ontario. These projects are subject to further study and prioritization, and may be considered for future development.
