National Capital Planning & Development Committee Meeting Archives ACT Finding Aid National Capital Planning & Development Committee Meeting Index 06/03/1939 to 02/10/1957 Introduction This index lists the topics discussed in the meetings held by the National Capital Planning & Development Committee from 6th March 1939 to 2nd October 1957. The Committee was an advisory body to the Minister of the Interior to safeguard the Griffin plan and maintain high aesthetic and architectural standards worthy of a National Capital. These meetings chart the development of Canberra throughout this period. After an 8 year gap during the Depression, this Committee succeeded the Federal Capital Commission which operated from 1925 to 1930 and was replaced by the National Capital Development Commission in 1958.
