The King's School, Canterbury Results Summary Mon 08 Oct 2018 - Sun 14 Oct 2018 Golf Time/Date Team Venue Opponent Result Type Report 14:00 Wed 1st Home Lingfield Lost National In the third pair, 10 Oct 18 College Cup - Christy Francis and Mixed-U18A Round Charlie Cook raced 2 to an early lead. Playing good, solid golf, they secured a comfortable 4&3 victory. In the top match, Zach Barker and Freddie Miller fell 3 holes behind early, against a pair who included a +1 handicapper. However, they stuck to their guns and produced some great golf to take a one hole lead after 16. Unfortunately, the sheer quality of the Lingfield pair told and King's lost the last 2 holes to lose that match 1 down. So progress to the semi-finals depended on the middle pair, a newly- formed team of Jake van der Gaag and Billy Miller. Despite the uphill task, they were ahead after 6 holes. They were 1 down on the 18th tee, but played the hole much more calmly than their opponents to win the 18th, tieing up their match. With an outright winner needing to progress to the next round, the match marched back up the 1st extra hole and, unfortunately, King's found some bunker trouble and lost the hole. Despite the inevitable disappointment, it was a truly great performance from all 6 of a team who had no right, based on vastly inferior handicaps, to push a quality oppositon right to the wire. 14:00 Thu 1st Home Tonbridge Lost Friendly A very windy Royal 11 Oct 18 School St George's hosted the latest match between King's and the strongest Tonbridge team for many years. King's were a bit short of players for a variety of reasons, so two boys from Spires Academy, a King's partnership school, joined us. Zach Barker chose to take his opposition on off scratch. Despite not playing badly, he found himself behind from the start and succumbed 6&4. The other players received a few shots each. Owen Fagg from Spires went out in the second pair and, despite playing at Royal St George's for the first time, acquitted himself well, before losing 4&2. Freddie Miller got off to an awful start, but hung in well, before finally losing 3&1. Harry Fagg from Spires, again playing at the venue for the first time, dug deep and took his match all the way to the 18th, before losing 2 down. Charlie Cook tried hard to cling onto his opposition's coat tails and birdied the tough 17th to keep his match alive. Unfortuantely he could only halve the 18th and he lost 1 down. Christy Francis ensured that the whitewash was avoided and played some great golf to secure a convincing 4&3 victory. So the overall result was a 5-1 loss. Hockey Time/Date Team Venue Opponent Result Type Report 10:00 Mon Girls U14A XI Home England See report : - King’s Hockey 08 Oct 18 Hockey U14 qualifies for Tier 1 Regionals Competition: County The U14As have Round qualified to compete at the East Regional Hockey Championship after their impressive performance at the U14 Tier 1 Kent County tournament. They topped the pool stages, and beat Kent College Pembury 2-0 in the quarter final. King’s then faced Langley Park in the semi- final. A win would mean regional qualification where they did just that, putting on a goal scoring masterclass to win 6-0. The final was a close affair against Sevenoaks, with the score remaining 0-0 for the majority of the match but Sevenoaks clinched the winner on a counter attack just minutes from time and the match ended 1-0 to Sevenoaks. King’s scored 14 goals and conceded just one in the five matches throughout the day, earning a silver medal and finishing as Kent County Runners-Up. The whole squad put in such strong performances throughout the day relying on their strength as a team and not as individuals. It shows such great promise for the future, in not only their skill level, but also in how hard they are prepared to work to help the team, particularly in defence. We wish them the best of luck at the East Regional tournament on Tuesday 6th November at Bedford hockey Centre. 15:30 Thu Girls 1st XI Away Forest Won : 3-1 National 11 Oct 18 School Cup - Round 1 13:30 Sat Girls 1st XI Away Sutton Won : 3-2 13 Oct 18 Valence School 13:30 Sat Girls 2nd XI Away Sutton Lost : 1-2 13 Oct 18 Valence School 14:30 Sat Girls 3rd XI Away Sutton Lost : 1-2 13 Oct 18 Valence School 13:30 Sat Girls U15A XI Home Sutton Won : 2-0 13 Oct 18 Valence School 13:30 Sat Girls U15B XI Home Sutton Draw : 0-0 13 Oct 18 Valence School 13:30 Sat Girls U15C XI Home Training tbc : - 13 Oct 18 14:45 Sat Girls U14A XI Home Sutton Won : 4-1 13 Oct 18 Valence School 14:45 Sat Girls U14B XI Home Sutton Won : 6-0 13 Oct 18 Valence School 13:30 Sat Girls U14C XI Home Training tbc : - 13 Oct 18 Lacrosse Time/Date Team Venue Opponent Result Type Report 13:30 Sat 1st Home Kent Uni Won : 17 - 1 13 Oct 18 13:30 Sat Development Squad Home Kent Uni Lost : 6 - 7 13 Oct 18 Rugby Union Time/Date Team Venue Opponent Result Type Report 15:50 Tue Boys-U15A Away Gravesend Won : 19 - 10 County 09 Oct 18 Grammar Cup Qtr School for Final Tries: Boys Belyakov, Onwuka(2) Cons: Belyakov(2) 14:45 Thu Boys-U18C Home King's Won : 30 - 26 11 Oct 18 Rochester Boys-U18B 14:45 Thu Boys-U16A Home King's Won : 29 - 15 Friendly 11 Oct 18 Rochester Tries: Osifo, Gotts(2), Maltus, Grosse Cons: Anderson(2) MVP(s) Harry Coe Archie Hogg Joe Roberts Fred Sharp Matthew Tricker 14:30 Sat Boys-U18A Home Simon Won : 39 - 19 13 Oct 18 Langton Grammar School for Boys 14:30 Sat Boys-U18B Home Simon Won : 19 - 12 13 Oct 18 Langton Grammar School for Boys 14:30 Sat Boys-U16A Home Simon Lost : 7 - 14 13 Oct 18 Langton Grammar School for MVP(s) Boys Zeli Ashebhai Archie Hogg Matthew Tricker 14:30 Sat Boys-U16B Home Simon Won : 31 - 0 13 Oct 18 Langton Grammar School for Boys 14:30 Sat Boys-U15A Home Simon Won : 54 - 5 13 Oct 18 Langton Grammar Tries: School for Brooke, Bonsu, Onwuka(4) Boys Cons: Belyakov(7) 14:30 Sat Boys-U15B Home Simon Won : 39 - 27 13 Oct 18 Langton Grammar School for Boys 14:30 Sat Boys-U14A Home Simon Won : 33 - 12 13 Oct 18 Langton Grammar School for Boys 14:30 Sat Boys-U14B Home Simon Won : 25 - 12 13 Oct 18 Langton Grammar Tries: School for Issatayev, Chan(2), Royde, MacLeod Boys Squash Time/Date Team Venue Opponent Result Type Report 14:30 Tue Boys-U18A Home Sevenoaks Won Friendly 09 Oct 18 School 14:30 Tue Girls-U18A Home Sevenoaks Won Friendly 09 Oct 18 School 14:30 Tue Boys-U18B Home Sevenoaks Lost Friendly 09 Oct 18 School .
