When publications are imported to Publons (via any source ), we try to match the imported publication to a publication already in our database.

We use unique identifiers such as: Accession Number (WOSID); DOI; Journal and Pubmed ID combination; and title (note this is case insensitive).

If we cannot find a publication with any of these details, we will create a new publication on Publons to link to your profile.

We try to cover all cases to prevent duplicate publication. Unfortunately in cases where unique identifiers are missing, or titles are slightly different, duplicates can arise.

In these cases we ask that you contact us to resolve the duplication and put in place and necessary measures to prevent future occurrences.
