Euthalia nara, E. insulae, E. confucius, E. thawgawa, E. dubernardi, E. iva, E. hayashii, E. durga, E. haradai, E. franciae, Bassarona recta, B. teuta, B. dunya and Dophla evelina, in spermatogonia and spermatocytes. Chromosome numbers are as follows: E. nara 2 n= 26 , n= 13 ; E. insulae, E. confucius and Bassarona recta 2 n= 28 , n= 14 ; E. thawgawa and E. dubernardi 2n=30, n=15; E. iva and E. hayashii 2n=32, n=16; E. durga 2n=34, n=17; E. haradai 2n=36, n=18; E. franciae 2n=48, n=24. Bassarona teuta, B. dunya and Dophla evelina 2n=60, n=30. Key words Bassarona, Dophla, Euthalia, spermatocyte, spermatogonia. 緒 言 ような違いや共通点があるか興味の持たれるところであ る. イナズマチョウ属 Euthalia は,アジアに棲息するタテハ チョウ科 Nymphalidae を代表する大きなグループである (塚田, 1991).塚田はイナズマチョウ属 Euthalia の細分化 材料および方法 を認め,イナズマチョウ属 Euthalia に 24 種を含めている. 用いた材料のうち染色体が観察された個体について,採集 本稿では,Yokochi( 2011)にしたがい,塚田(1991)が データ,採集地を Table 1 に示した.イナズマチョウ属 リクイナズマ属 Bassarona に含めている 10 種もイナズマ Euthalia 10 種の同定については横地隆博士のご指導をいた チョウ属Euthalia として扱い,残るリクイナズマ属 だき,学名は Yokochi( 2011)によった.リクイナズマ属 Bassarona 3 種とカギバイナズマ属 Dophla 1 種の染色体に Bassarona 3 種,カギバイナズマ属 Dophla 1 種については ついて報告する. 塚田(1991)にしたがった. イナズマチョウ属 Euthalia のこれまでの染色体に関する報 いずれも野外で採集した生きている成虫の精巣を用い,一 告 は,E. thibetana insulae n=14, I,II( Maeki et al. 1965), E. 部は PFA-3 液で固定し,通常のパラフィン切片法により julii n= 30 , I,II( Saitoh and Abe, 1970 , E. phemius n= 29 , I,II 10 ㎛の連続切片を作り,ハイデンハイン ・ 鉄ヘマトキシ (Saitoh and Abe, 1981) がある.これら 3 種のうち,E. julii リン染色を施したが,多くはクロージア法(阿部 ・ 工藤 は現在コイナズマ属 Tanaecia に含められ,Tanaecia julii と 2005)により染色体標本を作成した.種の配列は属毎に, されている.本報告中,E. insulae に関しては,Maeki et al. 染色体数の順とした. The molecular data matrix comprised 205 Limenitidinae species, four outgroups, and 11,327 aligned nucleotide sites using up to 18 genes per species of which seven genes (CycY, Exp1, Nex9, PolII, ProSup, PSb and UDPG6DH) have not previously been used in phylogenetic studies. We recovered the monophyly of the subfamily Limenitidinae and seven higher clades corresponding to four traditional tribes Parthenini, Adoliadini, Neptini, Limenitidini as well as three additional independent lineages. One contains the genera Harma C Cymothoe and likely a third, Bhagadatta, and the other two indepen- dent lineages lead to Pseudoneptis and to Pseudacraea. These independent lineages are circumscribed as new tribes. Parthenini was recovered as sister to rest of Limenitidinae, but the relationships of the remaining six lineages were ambiguous. A number of genera were found to be non-monophyletic, with Pantoporia, Euthalia, Athyma, and Parasarpa being polyphyletic, whereas Limenitis, Neptis, Bebearia, Euryphura, and Adelpha were paraphyletic. A total of 421 butterfly species were recorded during the survey, including two species new to India (Gonepteryx amintha thibetana and Bhutanitis ludlowi) and several species rediscoveries and range extensions in the Eastern Himalaya, most notably Arhopala belphoebe, Sovia separata magna, Aulocera saraswati vishnu, Calinaga aborica, Callerebia annada annada, and Callerebria scanda opima. Here we provide an annotated checklist of butterflies of the Kameng Protected Area Complex, including historical records, distributions, abundance, habitats and other notes on these 421 species. An additional 42 species recorded in older literature or by other authors in recent times are also listed, taking the total number of species recorded in the landscape to 463.

Such an annotated checklist should hopefully be useful for future research into the butterflies of Bangladesh, which are very poorly known, for reasons discussed below. When my wife was posted to Bangladesh in March 2001 we had expected to stay for four years, but she was transferred to Hanoi in March 2003. I had hoped to develop a book on the butterflies of Bangladesh, but now this checklist appears the best compromise in order not to lose the information that I did manage to gather. The checklist is clearly incomplete but it must be the most detailed inventory of any large invertebrate group in the country, and it updates the taxonomy and nomenclature which in some Indian and local publications still largely revolve around that in the excellent book by Evans (1932), which is now very dated. Objectives The objectives of the study are: • To list of all butterflies known to occur in Bangladesh. • To add to this list adding those species that on ecological and biogeographical grounds must be – or at least have been – in Bangladesh. • To update the taxonomy and nomenclature of the Bangladesh butterflies, including the authorship, date, and type locality for all species and subspecies.
