In tourism, dishes are important to any target audience. There are many nationalities in the world, and they differ from one another in their specific culture and national cuisine. Since ancient times, rye bread has been the main food for Latvians. Today too, rye bread is one of the symbols of Latvian identity and a treat for everyone wishing to get introduced to Latvian culture. Cultural heritage and cultural values are, to some extent, stagnant if not revived and cultivated. Cultural and historical heritage could be learnt through upbringing and education as well as its incorporation in a tourism product. Rye bread, the traditions of baking it, organic and natural foods and the setting – a rural farmstead, a festivity and a bakery where to taste the foods and participate in preparing the foods – could be referred to as the most significant resources with potential for development. -

Add a small amount of cheese. Cheese is high in calories and fat, so use sparingly. Add tuna. Then combine a variety of vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, carrots. Toss the vegetable combination in- to the salad. Top off your salad by sprinkling on a homemade dressing (olive oil is very good for you when not heat- ed), balsamic vinegar or fresh-squeezed lemon juice. For a different taste, throw in some fresh spices like dill, oregano, basil or garlic. MINNESOTA COTTAGE FOODS LAW Minnesota Statute 28A.152 Cottage Foods Exemption NON-POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS FOODS FACT SHEET As of July 1, 2015, individuals can sell non-potentially hazardous (NPH) foods made in their home kitchens, without a license (Minnesota Statute 28A.152). Non-potentially hazardous (NPH) foods are foods that do not support the rapid growth of bacteria that would make people sick when held outside of refrigerated temperatures. These are the types of foods the Minnesota Cottage Foods Law exempt from licensing. MFMA has worked with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, the Minnesota Department of Health, and the University of Minnesota Extension Food Safety Team to compile this list. If a food item is not on this list, contact your local Minnesota Department of Agriculture Food Inspector for more details. To find the contact information for your local MDA food inspector, call (651) 201-6027 or email [email protected]. LIST UPDATES This list will be reviewed periodically and updated as needed. The Little Mermaid Icon and Disneyfication Finn Hauberg Mortensen University of Copenhagen s AN ICON IN MASS cui.TURE, thc Little Meniiaid has become the official image of Denmark in general., and of its capital, At Copenhagen, in particular. Its icoiiicity is intimately tied to two sources: Edvard Eriksen's famous bronze statue erected on the Copen- hagen waterfront in 191? and Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale from i8í7. The complexity of Andersen's fairytale, however, which lends the symbolic value to Eriksen's statue, has been largely ignored because the statue has taken on a lite of its own. Historically, it belongs to the final phase of Danish classical sculpture., but it has also become the raw material of modernistic artistic expressions. In fact over the last fort^' years, the statue has moved toward two distinct representations: the completed statue by Eriksen viewed and re\ered by die millions of tourists who visit and photograph it and the ongoing fragmented and unfinished work, which has derived from the destruction of the former. This latter ''work of art" in turn points to the modernit)' of which it and Denmark has become part. The fragmentation started in içfti, when the statue had its hair painted red and was dressed up in a bra and panties. Two years later she was painted red again. In 1964, these prankish attacks were followed by an act of willful artistic vandalism when an unknown assailant sawed the head off the body. Later, Jörgen Nash, a situationist visual artist and author, claimed responsibility for removing the head and for making a deliberate assault on die Danish national symbol. -

Cresside Collette Tutor in Tapestry Weaving and Drawing School of Fashion and Textiles RMIT University [email protected] Abstract Since Mediaeval times drawing has been the foundation for and the integrated content of woven tapestry. This paper traces the evolution of a rich, colourful, tactile medium in response to the drawn image, the shift in importance of the weaver as artist within the process, and the emergence of Tapestry as a Contemporary art form in its own right. Keywords Drawing, Tapestry, Cartoon, Artist, Weaver. “Found in Translation – the transformative role of Drawing in the realisation of Tapestry.” Introduction A bold definition of tapestry is that it is a woven work of art. It carries an image, made possible by virtue of what is known as discontinuous weft, i.e. the weft is built up in small shapes rather than running in continuous rows across the warp. The structure of the material comprises warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal) threads. Hand woven on a loom, the weft yarn generally covers the warp, resulting in a weft - faced fabric. The design, which is woven into the fabric, forms an integral part of the textile as the artist/weaver constructs the image and surface simultaneously. Of all the textile arts, tapestry is the medium that finds its form and expression most directly in the drawn line. Drawing is the thread, both literally and metaphorically, that enables the existence of woven tapestry and it has played both a supporting and a didactic role in the realisation of this image - based form.
