Daily wagers faced much difficulties to meet their ends. In such a pandemic and lockdown situation poor people of the community cannot afford their basic needs of life. In this situation, the Community didn’t leave alone to the poor daily wagers and elderly people of their communities. SRSO through representatives of community institutions (CIs) and staff are responding COVID-19 emergency within its outreach areas through Community Savings, Ration and Vegetables Distribution, Linkages Development, Identification of deserving HHs, delivering awareness sessions on precautionary measures to fight COVID-19 and Registration of needy and poor families under the Govt. of Pakistan Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme. Households and individuals are being supported with Cash, Ration and capitalizing LSO linkages for relief activities in their concerned areas. SRSO well trained human capital is engaged in Government relief activities through identification of deserving beneficiaries, distribution of ration bags, conducting awareness sessions on preventive measures to combat COVID-19 SRSO is also facilitating the Government of Sindh in the identification of deserving families and distribution of food items in most needy households. SRSO outreach and scale of response to COVID-19 outbreak Number of task-forces/special-committees set up by the divisional, district and tehsil authorities with an active membership of SRSO for coordination and response to COVID-19 outbreak; 82 Number of special-committees with an active membership of LSO activists, CRPs and community leader’s set-up by the district and tehsil authorities and other entities for COVID-19 response 335 coordination arrangements; SRSO outreach and scale of response to COVID-19 outbreak in Districts 14 Number of tehsils 64 Number of urban towns and cities 99 Number of UCs 459 [ . Highlights of the Day-April 11, 2020: The highlights of the day April11, 2020 are as under: 32, poorest households were provided ration, and vegetables to respond COVID-19 emergency 2020 through mobilizing local resources/philanthropists/community contribution in Larkana district. 17, awareness-raising sessions on COVID-19, proper hand-washing and social distancing were conducted by 9 different community institutions (CIs) in Kamber-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur and Ghotki districts. 2,019, needy families have been facilitated into the registration process under the Govt. of Pakistan Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme –in Ghotki, Mirpurkhas, Kashmore @ Kandhkot, Shikarpur and Thatta districts. DAILY SITUATION REPORT-SRSO-COVID-19 EMERGENCY RESPONSE APRIL11, 2020 1 Details of Response to COVID-19 Emergency Interventions Community Institutions’ Food Drive for Poorest HHS to respond COVID-19 Emergency 2020: Agriculture Entrepreneur from VO Faiz Mohammad Khokhar,UC Gujhar Taluka Dokri, district Larkana called meeting at FFS and decided to distribute vegetables from FFS demo plot to poorest HHs and distributed fresh vegetables among the 16 poorest HHs. The community institution Sehkar, UC Lund, district Larkana has taken various initiatives through getting support in form of cash and kind through developing linkages with local Government, other stakeholders and community Philanthropist. Today, more 11 members have received ration from UC chairman, and other 05 members got ration from local Philanthropist named Awais Ali Abbassi. LSO leaders are working hard to come up with this difficult situation. DAILY SITUATION REPORT-SRSO-COVID-19 EMERGENCY RESPONSE APRIL11, 2020 2 Community Institutions’ Awareness on COVID-19, Handwashing and Social Distancing: Leaders of LSO Ibteda, Union Council Dhori, District Kamber-Shahdadkot is putting their restless efforts in delivering sessions related to precautionary measures to fight against global pandemic COVID-19. LSO leaders conducted the awareness sessions to the community members while being available at EHSAS Cash Program Distribution Stations after being nominated by DC KSK Mr. Javed Ali Jagirani to support the government during relief activities. The LSO leaders are also assuring that people may keep social distance and wash their hands while disbursement at the stations. CRPs under EU-PINS conducted 15 awareness raising sessions on COVID-19 and proper handwashing with the collaboration of 7 different village organizations of District Shikarpur in order to create awareness about coronavirus pandemic among rural communities. These sessions were attended by women and men from the respective community. The community institution village organization Kobhar UC Raharki, Taluka Dharki of District Ghotki conducted the awareness session with women to create awareness on proper hand-washing and social- distancing to prevent from COVID-19. This session was attended by 25 women of the two villages. Facilitation to Communities in EHSAAS Cash Emergency Programme Registration: The community institutions (Cis) are actively facilitating to deserving and needy households into the registration process under the Govt. of Pakistan Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme. 242 deserving HHs from district Thatta, 513 from Thatta, 274 from Badin, 509 from Kashmore @ Kandhkot and 481 from Mirpur Khas have been facilitated in registration process under the Govt. of Pakistan Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme . DAILY SITUATION REPORT-SRSO-COVID-19 EMERGENCY RESPONSE APRIL11, 2020 3 Coordination & Engagement with Govt. Authorities and Stakeholders to Response COVID-19 Emergency: The causes of such disease outbreaks are complex and often not well understood. Dealing with an outbreak requires an integrated and coordinated approach, with decision making by various state departments. Stringent biosecurity and biosafety protocols can help to reduce the chances of infection dissemination. In order to current disbursement under EHSAS Program it was noticed that ladies police was not deployed, safety measures were poor and disbursement procedures are slow it requires to expedite. CI leaders doing best within scare resources, distribute safety mask to masses and police staff, provide sanitizer, hand wash and briefing them. On the request of District Administration Shikarpur for providing support during Ehass Cash distribution among beneficiaries. SRSO provided support of LSO representatives at 16 BISP Centers of Rural UCs. The local Support Organization (LSO) Barkat UC Akhero & Jeay Bhutto UC Malheer District Kashmore @ Kandhkot conducted meeting with Assistant Commissioner Taluka Kandhkot Mr. Moonis Ahmed Rahojo at his office. Mis. Sabhiha (LSO Chairperson) briefed about the poorest HHs of UC which have been identified by their own VOs for relief activities. She also shared the list of 134 families who had been registered in EHSAAS Program. AC Mr. Moonis Ahmed briefed to LSO members about distribution process, and also relief committees and criteria for eligibility nomination of members for ration distribution. Moreover, he advised them to meet with notified Relief Committee members and identify remaining poor HHs & then through Relief Committee Ration will be distributed in the UCs. District Manager-SRSO Kashmore @ Kandhkot conducted meeting with Assistant Commissioner Kandhkot Mr. Moonis Ahmed Rahojo at their office. Main purpose of the meeting was discussed COVID-19 situation and response and role of community institutions (Cis).
