Welcome to Purdue Bands & !

Good morning, and welcome to campus! We’re glad to see you today, and we just want to make sure you’re equipped with all the information you need to meet us in August. Please make sure you take care of these steps as soon as possible!

• Once you complete your opening meetings, you should receive a schedule that includes your advising appointment time. Once you are certain of your schedule for the day, please call 765.494.0770 and schedule your audition time. Audition times are available from 10:30-12:00 and from 1:00-4:00, and we will work with your schedule during those times!

• Your audition will be at the Elliott Hall of (ELLT) for Concert and students and at Slayter Center (SCPA) for Band students. o Concert Band/Orchestra: Come to ELLT 135 to check in and pick up your instrument if you brought it to registration. A member of our staff will guide you to a warm up area and show you where you will be auditioning. Your audition will take less than 10 minutes, and you will be told one of the following courses to put on your schedule (there are a couple other selections that could be given, and your auditioner will let you know). . SYMPHONIC BAND: BAND 11600 . CONCERT BAND: BAND 11700 (section 001 or 002) . PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA: BAND 11100-P01 . ORCHESTRA: BAND 11100-001

o Jazz Band: Come to SCPA and meet with Dr. Trout. You will have a chance to warm up before your audition, which will last around 10 minutes. When you register, please sign up for BAND 11400. Final band placements will be communicated following the completion of all STAR dates in mid-July.

• If you did not prepare for an audition today, that’s OK! Please go to www.purdue.edu/bands/fall-2018-auditions and fill out the audition registration. You will be contacted by a member of our staff, who will schedule you for an audition during Boiler Gold Rush. For now, please make sure your advisor schedules you for the appropriate course number. o CONCERT BAND: BAND 11700 (Either Section) o ORCHESTRAL STRINGS: BAND 11100-001 o JAZZ BAND: BAND 11400 o : BAND 11000-001 (and make sure you register for Band Camp at www.purdue.edu/bands)
