STORYLINE: After rushing for 276 yards in a Super Bowl XVII win over , Wash- ington was effectively bottled up, getting only 90 yards on 32 carries, in falling to Oak- land in Super Bowl XVIII. Meanwhile, with Henry Lawrence (#70, Florida A&M) at right tackle, the Raiders got 231 rushing yards as a team, 191 on 20 carries from Mar- cus Allen, in a blowout 38-9 win. Leading 21-3 at the half, Oakland got 95 third-quarter rushing yards and two TDs from Allen, the last a beauty from 74 yards out to blow the game open.
