Spain Itinerary

12 Days/10 Nights- Toledo (2), (2), Ronda (1), (2), Madrid (3)

Departure Date: October 1, 2020 Return Date: October 12, 2020 US Gateway: Cincinnati

Day 1: Overnight from Cincinnati to Madrid.

Day 2: Arrive in Madrid airport and meet your travel director. Transfer to Toledo for hotel check in. In the afternoon there will be an orientation walk around this former capital of followed by a welcome dinner.

Day 3: TOLEDO- A local guide will introduce you to the highlights of Toledo. We will visit the stunning gothic cathedral, the Santa Maria la Blanca synagogue and the Santa Tomé Chapel to admire the Burial of the Count of Orgaz by El Greco. Lunch is included.

Day 4: GRANADA- We will drive through La Mancha towards Granada. There will be stops at the famous windmills in Consuegra and Puerto Lápice where Don Quijote was “knighted”. Afternoon arrival in Granada.

Day 5: GRANADA- A local guide will lead a tour of the , the inspiration for music and stories such as those by Washington Irving. The tour includes a visit to the magnificent Generalife Gardens and the Summer Palace. Your afternoon will be free. A suggestion for your afternoon is a visit to the cathedral where the Catholic Kings Ferdinand and Isabela are buried. After dinner the evening will be spent with a local gypsy flamenco family.

Day 6: RONDA- We will begin our day by driving along the Costa del Sol to Ronda. On the way we will stop in the resort port of Puerto Banús and then continue through the winding roads to Ronda. Once there we will enjoy a walking tour to admire the unique setting of the town followed by dinner

Day 7: SEVILLE- We will drive to Seville, the capital of . The remainder of the day is free with the option of attending a soccer match.

Day 8: SEVILLE- We will have a guided tour of the highlights of the city including the Plaza de España, the Cathedral and the Royal Palace. The afternoon is free. Dinner will be an evening cruise with drinks along the beautiful Guadalquivir River.

Day 9: MADRID- We will drive to Córdoba where a local guide will lead a tour of the Mezquita, a stunning example of . In the afternoon we will board the fast speed AVE train to Madrid.

Day 10: MADRID- We will enjoy a guided tour including a visit to the Prado Museum to admire works of artists such as El Greco, Goya, and Velazquez. The afternoon is free. Afternoon suggestions include the museums of Sorolla, Reina Sofia and Thyssen Bornemisza.

Day 11: MADRD- Our half day excursion will take you to , the austere monastery/palace built by King Philip II in the 16th century. The massive complex includes a palace, monastery, church, school and Royal tombs. Return to Madrid with a stop in the followed by our farewell dinner.

Day 12: Transfer to airport for return flight to the United States.
