This phrase describes India really well. It has diverse cultures and traditions spread across the nation. It has rich heritage and every Indian state is unique in its own way. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, every inch reflects the beauty of Indian culture. There are the Himalayas, Thar desert, Indian ocean, Andaman and Nicobar islands and the list is long. Andhra Pradesh (Hyderabad) Andhra Pradesh is situated on the southeastern coast of India and it is the 7th largest state in India. The state was earlier divided into two parts, one of which became Telangana. Hyderabad is a shared capital between Telangana and Andra Pradesh at the moment. The largest city in the state is Visakhapatnam which is popularly known as the financial capital of the state. This state is famous for its rich cultural heritage and it has various religious pilgrim destinations like Srisailam temple, Tirumala temple, Shahi Jamia masjid, Nagarjuna Konda, Tirupathi, etc. The Tirumala Venkateswara Temple which is located in Tirupati has over 18.25 million visitors every year and it has become one of the most visited religious sites in the world. Telugu is the native language spoken in the state which was referred as 'Italian of the east' by the Britishers in the colonial period. This state also has a long coastline which gives birth to several beaches. Kuchipudi is the classical dance form which has been a part of the culture since the 10th century. The state is blessed with beaches, hills, caves, forests, temples, wildlife, etc. It is referred as the Koh-i-noor of India. Lambasingi, a village in Vishakhapatnam is known as the Kashmir of South India because of the snowfall in the region due to its location at a high sea level. The state has Indian Cobras which is the most venomous snake in India. From an agricultural perspective, Andhra Pradesh is the "rice bowl of India", because a large amount of the rice produced in India is obtained from this state. There is also a huge production of eggs in the state. Two unique textile art forms are practiced here which is called Machilipatnam and Srikalahasti Kalamkari. Golconda, near Hyderabad, was popularly known for the diamond mining in the region. Many kinds of diamonds are found in the area. Potti Sriramulu is the father of the state as he lost his life while fasting to achieve the state of Andhra. Arunachal Pradesh (Itanagar) Arunachal Pradesh is the Nature's Paradise and the serene landscape of the region can leave you mesmerized. It is the largest north eastern state and the state is covered with evergreen forest. The capital of the state is Itanagar. The state inhabits 26 major tribes and more than 100 sub-tribes. Also known as the land of the rising sun, through which Brahmaputra river flows. The area is popular for its exquisite landscape, quaint Tibetan culture and massive water resources. The state is home to many Tibetan refugees. Tawang monastery which is 400 years old is situated here which is the second largest Buddhist monastery. China claims to own the state and many speculations have been raised in terms of china's intentions towards this Indian state. Orchids of over 500 varieties are found here. The state is blessed with a variety of flora and fauna. Major varieties of big cats like tiger, leopard, clouded leopard and snow leopard are found here. There are several animals found in the jungles of Arunachal like a white-winged duck, golden cat, and many more. Many wildlife sanctuaries and national parks can be found in the region. So, if you are a nature lover and if you want to see the nature in its pristine glory than visit Arunachal Pradesh. Many monuments and archaeological sites make this state a historian's delight. There are several ancient scriptures which dates back to the Mahabharata era. Many temples and pilgrims can be found in the area which makes it a popular pilgrimage site. Due to the fact that this place is covered 80 percent with forest, makes it the best place to involve yourself in adventure sports like trekking, boating, rafting, angling and many more. Dwell into the scenic beauty of this state and live the tribal culture. Assam (Dispur) Awesome Assam is the term to describe this state of breathtaking natural beauty. Assam is popularly known for its endless stretches of tea gardens that are a treat to the eyes. This place is known for its multiculturalism and ethnic diversity. It is situated in the northeastern region of India. Best known for its wildlife sanctuaries, this place can take you on a journey full of unique experiences. The most popular among all is the Kaziranga National Park which has one-horned rhinoceros which is an endangered animal. Assam has one of the oldest petroleum resources of the country. The language spoken here is Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, and Karbi. The state is rich in natural resources and agriculture. Assam tea, oil and gas is famous in the entire country. Kamakhya temple is also a popular tourist destination. Guwahati is the biggest city of Assam and Dispur is the capital of the state. Some popular ancient pilgrimage sites are Hajo and Madan Kamdev. The classical dance of the state is known as Bihu dance. People of this region have a special respect for areca-nut and betel leaves. The traditional clothing of Assam is called Mekhela chador is made of silk which is popular among women of Assam. Bamboo is also a huge part of their lives there as it is used in many ways. An ancient cultural practice in Assam is known as Symbolism which is an important part of life in Assam. Tamulpan, Xorai, and Gamosa are three important elements of symbolism in Assamese culture. Bihu is the most important festival of this state. Durga pooja is also an important religious festival celebrated here. Bhupen Hazarika hails from Assam and he is considered as the father of music of Assam. Bamboo craft is an important part of Assamese culture. Bihar (Patna) Bihar is the land of Bodhgaya, Rajgir, Vaishali, and Nalanda. It is an eastern Indian state which has a diverse climate. Patna is the capital of Bihar. It is one of the oldest inhabited places on earth which dates back to 3000 years. Hindi, Bhojpuri, and Urdu are spoken in this region. Mithali painting is a popular art form of painting in this state. This place has religious significance for Hindu pilgrims as Goddess Sita is believed to be born in Sitamarhi district of Bihar. It is the religious hub for Buddhists as well because Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya. That's not all, it has several ancient monuments which are popular tourist attractions. Nalanda and Vikramashila are two prominent ancient universities of India located in Bihar which makes this place a perfect destination for people looking for educational tourism. The tomb of Sher Shah, Barabar caves, Monuments of Darbhanga, Buddha Smriti Park, etc are some of the places which are popular among tourists. Forts, monuments, pilgrims, caves, hills, and museums, Bihar has it all. The state is known for its metal industries, historic sites, and fruits production. Bihar has been an epicenter of two greatest dynasties called Maurya and Gupta dynasty. This place has been an important religious, political and educational center for people from across the world. The land is blessed with the presence of River Ganga along with River Kosi and Gandak which enriches the plains of the state and make the land fertile enough for agriculture. A trip to Bihar can take you to the journey in the history and glorious past. Chhattisgarh (Raipur) Chhattisgarh is located in the central part of India and it has historical significance, exquisite wild life, Sanctuaries, National parks, cavern, waterfalls, and much more. It offers an unforgettable experience as it has many tourist attractions. Raipur is its capital which is a fast growing commercial city. The state is rich in minerals as it has 28 types of different minerals. Hindi and Chhattisgarhi are the major languages spoken in the region. It was earlier a part of Madhya Pradesh on Nov 1, 2000. Chitrakoot waterfalls located in Bastar district is considered as Indian Niagra Falls at the time of monsoon. The Bhoramdeo temple built in the 11th century is located in Kabirdham district which is also called Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh as it has erotic scriptures. The region has mining industries and huge agricultural set-up.
