Dr. C#: a Pedagogic IDE for C# Featuring a Read-Eval-Print-Loop by Dennis Lu
RICE UNIVERSITY Dr. C#: A Pedagogic IDE for C# Featuring a Read-Eval-Print-Loop by Dennis Lu ATHESIS SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE Master of Science APPROVED,THESIS COMMITTEE: Robert Cartwright, Chair Professor of Computer Science Joe Warren Professor of Computer Science Dan Wallach Assistant Professor of Computer Science Dung X. Nguyen Lecturer, Computer Science Houston, Texas April, 2003 Dr. C#: A Pedagogic IDE for C# Featuring a Read-Eval-Print-Loop Dennis Lu Abstract As the primary programming language of the Microsoft .NET platform, C# will play a significant role in software development for the foreseeable future. As the language rapidly gains popularity in industry, tools made for C# development fo- cus on the professional programmer, while leaving the beginning computer science student behind. To address this problem, we introduce Dr. C#, a simple lightweight develop- ment environment with an integrated, interactive Read-Eval-Print-Loop (REPL). Dr. C# helps flatten the learning curve of both the environment and the language, enabling students to quickly learn key elements of the language and focus more easily on concepts. Dr. C# thus serves not only as a learning tool for beginner students but also as a teaching tool for instructors. The editor is based on an open source IDE called SharpDevelop. This thesis describes the implementation of Dr. C# focusing primarily on building the REPL and integrating with SharpDevelop. Acknowledgments I would like to thank my advisor Professor Robert “Corky” Cartwright for giving me the opportunity and autonomy to develop Dr. C#. I would also like to thank Professor Dung Nguyen for acting as co-advisor and for his years of guidance and support. -

Software testing is a process of executing a program or application with the intent of finding the software bugs. It can also be stated as the process of validating and verifyingthat a software program or application or product: Meets the business and technical requirements that guided it’s design and development. Works as expected. KEY WORDS: SOFTWARE TESTING .AUTOMATION TESTING ,SELENIUM, SELENIUM WEBDRIVER ,AGILE TESTING , TESTNG Test automation : In software testing, test automation is the use of special software (separate from the software being tested) to control the execution of tests and the comparison of actual outcomes with predicted outcomes. Test automation can automate some repetitive but necessary tasks in a formalized testing process already in place, or add additional testing that would be difficult to perform manually. AGILE TESTING : A software testing practice that follows the principles of agile software development is called Agile Testing. Agile is an iterative development methodology, where requirements evolve through collaboration between the customer and self- organizing teams and agile aligns development with customer needs. Selenium automation tool Selenium has the support of some of the largest browser vendors who have taken (or are taking) steps to make Selenium a native part of their browser. -
Introduction to Unit Testing
INTRODUCTION TO UNIT TESTING In C#, you can think of a unit as a method. You thus write a unit test by writing something that tests a method. For example, let’s say that we had the aforementioned Calculator class and that it contained an Add(int, int) method. Let’s say that you want to write some code to test that method. public class CalculatorTester { public void TestAdd() { var calculator = new Calculator(); if (calculator.Add(2, 2) == 4) Console.WriteLine("Success"); else Console.WriteLine("Failure"); } } Let’s take a look now at what some code written for an actual unit test framework (MS Test) looks like. [TestClass] public class CalculatorTests { [TestMethod] public void TestMethod1() { var calculator = new Calculator(); Assert.AreEqual(4, calculator.Add(2, 2)); } } Notice the attributes, TestClass and TestMethod. Those exist simply to tell the unit test framework to pay attention to them when executing the unit test suite. When you want to get results, you invoke the unit test runner, and it executes all methods decorated like this, compiling the results into a visually pleasing report that you can view. Let’s take a look at your top 3 unit test framework options for C#. MSTest/Visual Studio MSTest was actually the name of a command line tool for executing tests, MSTest ships with Visual Studio, so you have it right out of the box, in your IDE, without doing anything. With MSTest, getting that setup is as easy as File->New Project. Then, when you write a test, you can right click on it and execute, having your result displayed in the IDE One of the most frequent knocks on MSTest is that of performance. -

Testing has become testing, a particular website or a web application..The most important parameter in the case of software purpose of this project is to invent our own test tool which development lifecycle (SDLC). Testing automation tools will give more sophisticated outcomes then the cucumber enables developers and testers to easily automate the entire tool which will be using .The outcome of our research tool process of testing in software development. It is to examine & should be more better then the testing tool which is already modify source code. The objective of the paper is to conduct available in the market that is cucumber tool.. [3]. The paper a comparative study of automated tools such as available in tries to investigate and evaluate the effect of automation market in Selenium and cucumber test tool. The aim of this testing such as GUI and back end testing. [4]. research paper is to evaluate and compare automated The problems with manual testing are, it is very time software testing tools to determine their usability and consuming process, not reusable, has no scripting facility, effectiveness. -
Taming Functional Web Testing with Spock and Geb
Taming Functional Web Testing with Spock and Geb Peter Niederwieser, Gradleware Creator, Spock Contributor, Geb The Actors Spock, Geb, Page Objects Spock “Spock is a testing and specification framework for Java and Groovy applications. What makes it stand out from the crowd is its beautiful and highly expressive specification language. Thanks to its JUnit runner, Spock is compatible with most IDEs, build tools, and continuous integration servers. Spock is inspired from JUnit, RSpec, jMock, Mockito, Groovy, Scala, Vulcans, and other fascinating life forms. It brings together the power of WebDriver, the elegance of jQuery content selection, the robustness of Page Object modelling and the expressiveness of the Groovy language. It can be used for scripting, scraping and general automation — or equally as a functional/web/acceptance testing solution via integration with testing frameworks such as Spock, JUnit & TestNG. Geb (ctd.) http://gebish.org ASL2 license Serving mankind since 2009 Latest releases: 0.7.2, 1.0-SNAPSHOT Java + Groovy Use with any test framework Loves Spock First-class page objects Page Objects “The Page Object pattern represents the screens of your web app as a series of objects. Within your web app's UI, there are areas that your tests interact with. A Page Object simply models these as objects within the test code. This reduces the amount of duplicated code and means that if the UI changes, the fix need only be applied in one place. -
