International Journal of Innovation, Creativity and Change. www.ijicc.net Volume 7, Issue 1, 2019 Tourist Perceptions, Behavioral Characteristics and Demands of Agro-Safety Tourism as an Economic Value Add for the Ing River Basin Route, Thailand Suriya Somchana, Sirikhuan Panyarienb, aSchool of Management and Information Sciences, University of Phayao, Thailand, bRajamangala University of Technology Lanna Lampang, Thailand, E-mail: [email protected], [email protected] The objectives of this study were to study 1) the current perceptions of tourists about agro-safety tourism as a value add to economy along the Ing River Basin route, 2) their behavioral characteristics, and 3) demands. This study used a mixed methods research approach with quantitative research employing a questionnaire that received an Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) score between 0.60 - 1.00 and a confidence level equal to 0.93. The Taro Yamane formula was used to calculate the size of the sample group at 400 people. Data analysis with the SPSS statistics software included descriptive statistic, t-test and one- way ANOVA. The qualitative research was conducted with a focus group of 21 stakeholders and the data was analysed for content and summarised. All data was verified using triangulation technique. It was found that the overall perception of Thai tourists is that the following aspects are most important: 1) accessibility, 2) tourism amenities, 3) administration and 4) attractions. Further, Thai tourists demands were found to focus on the following aspects: 1) administration, 2) tourism amenities, 3) attractions and 4) accessibility. This research was conducted to provide beneficial data for use in agro-safety tourism management and to continually add value to the economy. -

Risk Patterns of Lung Cancer Mortality in Northern Thailand

Spatial analysis studies may be helpful in guiding any strategy put in place to respond to the risk of lung cancer mortality in specific areas. The aim of our study was to identify risk patterns for lung cancer mortality within the northern region of Thailand. Methods: In the spatial analysis, the relative risk (RR) was used as a measure of the risk of lung cancer mortality in 81 districts of northern Thailand between 2008 and 2017. The RR was estimated according to the Besag-York-Mollié autoregressive spatial model performed using the OpenBUGS routine in the R statistical software package. We presented the overall and gender specific lung cancer mortality risk patterns of the region using the Quantum Geographic Information System. Results: The overall risk of lung cancer mortality was the highest in the west of northern Thailand, especially in the Hang Dong, Doi Lo, and San Pa Tong districts. For both genders, the risk patterns of lung cancer mortality indicated a high risk in the west of northern Thailand, with females being at a higher risk than males. -

The way it is By Ajahn Sumedho 1 Ajahn Sumedho 2 Venerable Ajahn Sumedho is a bhikkhu of the Theravada school of Buddhism, a tradition that prevails in Sri Lanka and S.E. Asia. In this last century, its clear and practical teachings have been well received in the West as a source of understanding and peace that stands up to the rigorous test of our current age. Ajahn Sumedho is himself a Westerner having been born in Seattle, Washington, USA in 1934. He left the States in 1964 and took bhikkhu ordination in Nong Khai, N.E. Thailand in 1967. Soon after this he went to stay with Venerable Ajahn Chah, a Thai meditation master who lived in a forest monastery known as Wat Nong Pah Pong in Ubon Province. Ajahn Chah’s monasteries were renowned for their austerity and emphasis on a simple direct approach to Dhamma practice, and Ajahn Sumedho eventually stayed for ten years in this environment before being invited to take up residence in London by the English Sangha Trust with three other of Ajahn Chah’s Western disciples. The aim of the English Sangha Trust was to establish the proper conditions for the training of bhikkhus in the West. Their London base, the Hampstead Buddhist Vihara, provided a reasonable starting point but the advantages of a more gentle rural environment inclined the Sangha to establishing a forest monastery in Britain. This aim was achieved in 1979, with the acquisition of a ruined house in West Sussex subsequently known as Chithurst Buddhist Monastery or Cittaviveka. -

The problems caused by a reduction in biodiversity are regarded as some of the greatest challenges facing humanity today. This is because a reduction in biodiversity affects our ecosystem, which in return also affects the life of human beings. Based on a consideration of the consequences of biodiversity reduction, a proposal for accepting the right to life of all living things has been made in recent years.1 In this paper, I appeal to upholding the dignity of human life, and regard loss of life as of gravest consequence. It is for that reason that in the field of medical science, bioethics entails investigating what affects the life of human beings. In Buddhism, human life and other forms of life are regarded as being of the same matter.2,3 Therefore, since they are always related to living things, Buddhism regards environmental prob- lems as essentially an issue of ethics. The ultimate purpose of the practice of Buddhism is to attain Bud- dhahood, which in modern terms means to become as ideal a human being as that of a Buddha. Representative practices in Buddhism are the six kinds of practices by which a bodhisattva attains Buddhahood (∑a† påramitåh). The six kinds of practices consist of giving donations (dåna-påramitå), keeping the precepts (ߥla-påramitå), being forbearing (k∑ånti-påramitå), being assiduous (v¥rya-påramitå), practicing medita- tion (dhyåna-påramitå), and cultivating wisdom (prajñå-påramitå). -

Terrorism appears to reign supreme in many countries. War is not just a threat; it is a continuing actuality all over the globe. The use of nuclear power in war is a worldwide anxiety. Lawlessness and misappropriation of various kinds are prevalent today to an unprecedented degree. The mass media are replete with distressing news about pickpocketing, bribery, smuggling, organized robbery, blackmailing, hijacking, etc. Incest and rape, too, raise their ugly heads with unprecedented frequency. Sexual abuse of children within the family circle is so common. False speech, alcoholism and drug abuse are burning social problems of modern society. In this ugly scenario Buddhist practice of Sīla can be a helpful instrument to reduce these vices. Word of Sīla: Sīla or morality is the cornerstone upon which the entire Noble Eightfold Path is built. The practice of Sīla is defined by the middle three factors of the Eightfold Path: Right Speech, Right Action and Right Livelihood. It is the first step of Threefold Training which is the foundation of the holy life and the path the Buddha teaches to develop the body behavior with precepts (Sīla). In order to understand the term ‘Sīla’ and its significance we can see the details as follows. The research found that communities and local organizations interested in the participation of community and tourism attractive developments. They aimed to improve the community- based tourism style relying on the related factors, including management of water resources, community forestry, waste, and community lifestyle promotion. Besides, the results of community satisfaction on the factors affecting the decision to travel in Phu Kam Yao District, Phayao Province, show that the satisfaction with participation in both activities is at a high level. There are 4.45 mean values for satisfaction that supports the participation in communities, along with 3.92 mean values for the satisfaction with the knowledge from narrators. Introduction Tourism Community (Community- Based Tourism) is another form of tourism, which is popular at current.
