The Alpha Rho edition of Phi Kappa Tau went to press in 1929, and its popularity at Tech is still growing. Phi Kappa Tau seems headed for a spot on the national best seller list of social fraternities.... Chapter one of Alpha Rho tells of some very successful house dances and parties, capped off by the annual Formal in December, with Linda Barnes being chosen sweetheart. Later pages tell of great activity and industry by all the members. . . . The index lists Don Nordal, Wendell Williams, and Paul Danner in Pi Tau Sigma, Pete Keenan and Don Nordal in Briearean Society with the Society s president Wendell Williams, also a member of Tau Beta Pi. Dave Way is an active worker on the Student Council. In the glossary we read that Phi Kappa Tau is a promising bunch, in any book.

Established at Georgia Tech in 1923, Kappa Deuteron chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa has continued to grow until it is now one of the most prominent fraternities on the campus. . . . The social year was filled with house dances and parties, the big event being the Founder s Day Formal at which the new Moon- light Girl was named.... In the past year Kappa Deuteron took first places in the "Old News Boys Drive" for cerebral palsy and I.F.C. sing. The Phi Sigs have also consistently finished among the leaders in intramural sports and other campus activities.

Iota Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi, which dates its existence from 1913, has always participated in all school activities, bal- ancing scholastic with social interest. . . . Among the social events traditional with the Pi Kap s are the Founder s Day Celebration in December, attended by members of all three Atlanta chap- ters, and the annual Spring Rose Ball, at which the "Rose of Pi Kappa Phi" is presented.... This year Bob Dewhurst took first place in the Freshman Cake Race, and Bob Patton was a regular in varsity baseball. John Teramo is secretary of Chi Epsilon, Hugo Peters is in Delta Kappa Phi, and Pete Harrison made Phi Eta Sigma. . .. With the goal of a new fraternity house in the near future and with a commendable 1955- 56 pledge class, Iota of Pi Kappa Phi continues its steady, but conservative growth.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the nation s largest social fraternity, in 1956 celebrated the Centennial of its founding, and Georgia Phi Chapter noted sixty-six years at Tech.... Under the capa- blleadershipe of president Bill Dunlap, the men of Georgia Phi got a fine start this year with some very successful rushing. In the intramural competition they early copped the volley- ball title and a close second in swimming. . . . Seen carrying the purple and gold about the hill were George Harris, Student Council president and ODK; Bill Dunlap, ANAK; Benny Rouse, Bulldog Club prexy; John Rouark, Joe Walker, Kell Williams, and John Pringle all made Tau Beta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi. . . . Varsity men were Bill Fulcher, football; Earle Bortell, tennis; and Ed Green, Dick Gillem, and Ted Cook made track. . . . The social season was highlighted with the pinning of Georgia Phi s first sweetheart, Miss Kay Branch of Atlanta, at the Violet Ball held in November.
