Children explore the animal kingdom and learn about the habitats, adaptations and life cycles of their favorite creatures. They experiment with animal calls and camouflage, and create their own Animal Tracks to take home.

HAVE A BALL THIS SUMMER…

…PLAYING IN a CO-ED Youth SOFTBALL LEAGUE!!

Trying to find an extremely low cost, low time commitment, fun athletic opportunity for your child? Looking for a great way to boost your child’s confidence and self-esteem? Hoping for ways to have your son or daughter make new friends? Have a son or daughter who is not naturally athletic but you would like to see give sports a try? If you answered ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, then it is time for you to join our Youth Softball program!!

Our two co-ed youth leagues cover boys and girls from 2nd through 8th grade, and girls completing 9th grade. Beginners at all age levels have learned the sport quickly, gained personal confidence, and made meaningful contributions to their teams! Experienced multisport athletes playing spring soccer, lacrosse, fast pitch softball and even Little League have participated in two sports because of our league’s low time commitment of only 1-3 hours per week, its affordability, and team roster sizes that allow for occasional conflicts.

Players are assigned to teams randomly, but we honor and encourage requests to be paired with other friends to help with car-pooling and to make it a comfortable and enjoyable experience for the kids. Teams are run by volunteer parents with a passion for teaching the game to young people. There are no rules with regard to how many boys or girls are on each team’s roster or in the field of play at any given time, but efforts are made to maintain competitive integrity. Managers ensure that all players receive an ample amount of playing time regardless of ability. Games are umpired by adult recreation staff, and the season will conclude by July 19th.

JUNIOR LEAGUE: For boys & girls just finishing 2nd thru 5th grade. An 11” softball is used. SENIOR LEAGUE: For boys & girls just finishing 6th thru 8th grade, and girls just finishing 9th grade. A 12” softball ball is used.

In both leagues, scores and league standings are kept, and teams finishing with a winning record receive individual trophies at the annual Awards Banquet. Games are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and there is an all-star game at season’s end.

During the trip, students also donated 40 boxes of cereal, learned about childhood hunger in Milwaukee ,and got information on how to live more sustainability. Nicolet Athletic Facilities Update On October 23, Nicolet High School and Milwaukee School of Engineering broke ground on the new baseball stadium at Richard A. Maslowski Park that will serve as the new home of both teams. The project is expected to be completed in late spring 2019 and will feature a synthetic baseball field with dugouts, seating for more than 300 people, a new scoreboard system, as well as batting cages and bullpen areas, allowing the stadium to serve as a full practice and game facility.

Nicolet is proud to work with MSOE and the City of Glendale to maximize the full potential of Maslowski Park allowing residents, students, parents, and extended families to enjoy recreational activities and community events for years to come.

Additionally, the District recently completed the sale of the upper fields property east of I-43. The sale will help to fund the first phase of Nicolet’s athletic facilities redevelopment project on the main campus which will include renovations to the football/soccer stadium and tennis courts. Why? Because the Wisconsin Band consists of over 300 hard-working and enthusiastic students and staff members who strive to keep “raising the bar” year after year. On Thursday, April 19 the UW Varsity Marching Band will celebrate its 44th an nual spring concert at the Kohl Center. No other college band puts on such an extravaganza complete with professional staging, lighting, sound and pyrotechnics performed for 25,000 Badger fans each year. The Wisconsin Band is pleased to announce another action-packed spring con cert with special guests to be announced. There will be lots of surprises and effects during this 2 ½ hour concert. Dinner stop (on your own) is at East Towne Mall and then on to the concert. This trip is extremely popular, please register ASAP.

Mike Leckrone had been the director of the band since 1969. He has an incredible amazing memory that he can remember past and present names of band members and the instruments that they play or played and where they were from. Mike started the annual Spring Concert in 1975 and the rest is history. He has received many rewards over the years, has written his own compositions, and has published them. This is the end of an era, a “Mike Leckrone Era.” Thanks for your flamboyancy, antics, fancy entrances and closings with equally spangled attire. The top of the Kohl Center will never forget you and we won’t either. We salute you!
