Head of Cornea Royal Medical Services, Jordan Dr Nancy Al Raqqad, FRCS, is currently the Head of Cornea specialty at the Royal Medical Services of Jordan. A pioneer cornea cataract and refractive consultant. Completed her subspecialty training from the United Kingdom in 2011 and holds a diploma in leadership from the European Society of ophthalmology 2017. She was awarded the order of military merit by His Majesty King Abdullah Second for her innovative contributions to ophthalmology in Jordan in June 2019. She is a speaker at many national and international conferences and a member of the Jordanian American and European Ophthalmological Societies. Dr. Rosa Balcells, MD, Chile (Session 1A, Panelist)

Ophthalmologist, specialist in Oculoplastics and Orbit Las Condes Clinic Vision Center Ocular Trauma Unit, Hospital del Salvado Born in Santiago, Chile, Dr. Balcells did her ophthalmology residency at the Universidad de Chile. She then moved to Cincinnati where she completed a two-year fellowship (2007-2009) in oculoplastic at the Cincinnati Eye Institution (CEI) and the University of Cincinnati under the mentorship of Drs. Dwight Kulwin and Robert Kersten. Since 2010, Dr. Balcells has been in Santiago, Chile where she splits her time between the University Public Hospital and a private practice. Dr. Balcells has a special interest in surgical rehabilitation, performing lid and lacrimal laceration repairs as an Oculoplastic consultant at the National Eye Trauma Unit or Chile. She also works in the Plastic Surgery Service of a Pediatric Hospital. Dr. Balcells is on the Adjunct Faculty at the National Ophthalmology Residency Program of Chile. She is an Executive Board Member of the Pan-American Society of Oculoplastics (SOPANOP) and President of the Chilean Society of Oculoplastics.

Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon External Disease and Cornea department Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Ms Laura de Benito is a consultant eye surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Trust where she is a specialist in corneal transplant, cataract, lens and laser eye surgery. Ms de Benito graduated with honours at the top of her year at medical school. She did her ophthalmology residency in Madrid, Spain. She was fellowship trained in cornea, lens and laser eye surgery in Madrid and at Moorfields Eye Hospital, . She was awarded a PhD with honours for her thesis on corneal wound healing after laser eye surgery. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and holds the Certificate in Laser & Refractive Surgery (Cert LRS). Ms. de Benito has been a consultant at international centres of excellence since 2005 - at Vissum Madrid Spain, at the Singapore National Eye Centre, at St Thomas’ Hospital London and in her current post at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where she is clinical lead for cornea transplant outcomes. She was awarded a Clinical Excellence Award in 2018 and 2019 in recognition for her work in developing a system to track the outcomes of corneal transplant surgery.

Lilian C. O’Brien and Dr. C.S. O’Brien Chair in Ophthalmology and Professor University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Keith Carter, M.D., is the Lillian C. O’Brien and Dr. C.S. O’Brien Chair in Ophthalmology and Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Carter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Purdue University and a medical degree from Indiana University. He completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Michigan, and a fellowship in oculoplastics and orbital surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He has been a faculty member at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics since 1988. He served as Residency Program Director for 14 years and was appointed Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in January 2006. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and American College of Surgeons. He has trained over 20 oculoplastic fellows and countless residents. He is past President of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and past President of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology. He currently serves as the chair of the Executive Committee for the Minority Ophthalmology Mentoring Program.

Prof. Gemmy Cheung, MBBS, FRCOphth, FAMS, MCI, Singapore (Session 2B, Moderator)

Senior Consultant Singapore National Eye Centre Professor Gemmy Cheung is currently Professor and Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at SNEC, Duke-NUS Medical School, National University of Singapore (NUS). She is the Head of Department of the Medical Retina Department and Head of the Retina Research Group at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI). Her research interests focus on Asian retinal diseases, specifically age-related macular degeneration (AMD), polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) and myopic macular degeneration. Prof Cheung has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles mostly in age-related macular degeneration and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy. Prof Cheung has completed several clinical trials in anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapies in the capacity of the principal investigator. She is the principal investigator for 2 on-going large research programmes funded by Singapore National Medical Research Council and Biomedical Research Council. She has been given >100 invited lectures and served as Instructor on courses at the APAO, AAO congress. Professor Cheung has received a number of prestigious awards, including the Secretariat Award and Achievement Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Macula Society Young Investigator Award, the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement award, Nakajima Award and Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness Award.

Founder, Dr. Choksey Albinism Foundation Dr. Choksey has over 40 years of experience in the subject with her specialty being Medical Retina and Albino Eyes. She is the former Lecturer in Ophthalmology, University of Nairobi (1989 – 1998), former Editor-in-Chief of East African Journal of Ophthalmology (1997 – 2006) and former Chairperson Department of Surgery, Aga Khan University Hospital (1999 – 2002). She is the founder of Dr. Choksey Albinism Foundation, a Charitable trust established in Kenya to reach out to the stigmatized and shunned people specially children with Albinism in whom the main disability and challenges in life are due to the involvement of the eyes. Dr. Prabha Choksey believes in a holistic approach to the practice of Medicine.

Head of Academic Glaucoma and Neuro-ophthalmology Sir William and Lady Stevenson Professor of Ophthalmology Department of Ophthalmology University of Auckland Professor Danesh-Meyer is an international authority on glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology and one of the most highly regarded experts in her field. Professor Danesh- Meyer provides a significant contribution to lecturing undergraduate science, medical and optometry students as well as post-graduate optometry and ophthalmology professional teaching – both nationally and internationally. She has also been recognized for her research – receiving numerous awards and research grants and publishing more than 120 articles.

Dr. Angela M. Fernández, MD, Colombia (Session 1A, Panelist)

Executive Vice President, Pan American Association of Ophthalmology Professor Nueva Granada Military University, Bogota Military Hospital, Bogota Santa Fe Foundation, Bogota Dr Fernández is based in Bogota, Colombia-South America. She carried out her Ophthalmology residency program at Barraquer Clinic in Bogota. Then she did a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship in Boston, USA, as well as an Ocular Oncology Fellowship at National Cancer Institute in Bogotá. Interested in Ophthalmic Education and Ophthalmological Societies, she has served as President for several societies: the Colombian Society of Ophthalmology, the Colombian Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the Latin American Council of Strabismus, and the Latin American Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Committed to Women in Ophthalmology projects, she is coordinator for the Panamerican Women in Ophthalmology activities, as well as for the Colombian Women in Ophthalmology. She is current Vice-President for the Colombian Society of Ophthalmology. Likewise, she is current Executive Vice-President for the Pan American Association of Ophthalmology. Dr Fernández has been deeply interested in ophthalmological education and has been a teacher in the Residency Program for over twenty years. She is currently Chair of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus section at the Military Hospital Ophthalmology Department, and Associated Professor of Ophthalmology at Nueva Granada University.

Dr. Tamara R. Fountain, MD, USA (Session 2A, Panelist)

Professor and Section Chair Emeritus Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Department of Ophthalmology Rush University Medical Center Dr. Fountain is professor of ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center and section chair emeritus of oculofacial plastic surgery. She maintains a private practice near her home on Chicago’s North Shore, a day’s drive from where she grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Fountain graduated with a B.A. from Stanford University and obtained her M.D. from Harvard Medical School. After completing residency in ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins’ Wilmer Eye Institute, she returned to California for fellowship training in oculoplastic surgery at Doheny Eye Institute/University of Southern California. Dr. Fountain is the 2021 President of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is Past-President of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), where she has received the Robert Kennedy Presidential and Orkan Stasior Leadership Awards for service to the Society. Dr. Fountain served 15 years with the Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Company chairing the Audit, Strategic Planning, Risk Management and Insurance/ Marketing committees before being elected Chair of the Board of Directors. She is past president of the Illinois Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and has been involved in programming for the American Ophthalmological Society, Women in Ophthalmology and the Chicago Ophthalmological Society. She is a past Alumni Fund Chair for Harvard Medical School. Outside medicine, Dr. Fountain is a news and podcast junkie and enjoys travelling with family and speaking at conferences (Pre-Covid) around the world. She plays tennis year-round and when Chicago weather permits, will also get a few rounds of golf in. Dr. Fountain considers herself quite fortunate to have led a life of service to her patients as well as to the profession of ophthalmology.

Deputy Director, Monash Institute for Health and Clinical Education Head of Glaucoma Unit, Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital Catherine Green is a glaucoma specialist and ophthalmic educator based in Melbourne, Australia. She is Head of the Glaucoma Unit at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, the largest specialist glaucoma service in Australia, and has an academic appointment as Associate Professor of Health Professions Education at Monash University. Throughout her career Catherine has pursued interests in education and training, clinical service improvement, advocacy and international development. She has served as a Director of the Centre for Eye Research Australia, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and the International Council of Ophthalmology and is a serving Council Member of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) as well as the Women in Ophthalmology Committee. Catherine has made a significant contribution in international ophthalmology, with a focus on sustainable development through high quality education programs, playing a key role in collaborations in Cambodia, the Pacific and Papua New Guinea. Since 2010, she has been the convenor of the Leadership Development Programs of both RANZCO and the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) and was integral to their establishment. She is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in ophthalmology. Catherine has been the recipient of multiple awards, including the Distinguished Service and Nakajima Awards of the APAO and the Board Chair’s Medal of the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, and was recognised as a Champion of Change by Women in Ophthalmology in 2019. In 2017, she was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to ophthalmology as a clinician, through executive roles with national and international professional groups, to research and education, and to eye health care programs in the Asia-Pacific.

Haller, MD, Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at Wills Eye Hospital, is a trailblazing retina surgeon-scientist and leader who has innovated translational advances against blindness on many fronts. Dr. Haller was educated at the Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, Princeton University and Harvard Medical School. After her Halsted internship in surgery at Johns Hopkins, residency in ophthalmology and retina fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins, she served as Wilmer’s first female Chief Resident. Recruited to the Hopkins faculty thereafter, Haller directed the retina fellowship, was named to the inaugural Katharine Graham Chair in Ophthalmology, and subsequently to the inaugural Robert Bond Welch, M.D. Professorship. In 2007 she was appointed Ophthalmologist-in-Chief and William Tasman, MD Endowed Chair at Wills Eye Hospital, and Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals. She is a Consultant at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. One of the world’s most renowned retina surgeons, Dr. Haller has published over 400 scientific articles and book chapters, with research interests in retinal pharmacology, macular surgery, venous occlusive disease, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, complicated retinal detachments, health care disparities, and gender equity. She graduated in Medicine from Dhaka University in 1976 and obtained Fellowship in Ophthalmology in 1985. Consultant Ophthalmologist, RIPAS Hospital Outreach ophthalmologist, Brunei Flying Medical Service President, Brunei Ophthalmology Society Council member, ASEAN Ophthalmology Society Dr. Hurairah is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon specializing in general adult ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus and complex cataract surgery. She is the President of the Brunei Ophthalmology Society, a council member for the ASEAN Ophthalmology Society and represents Brunei as an Associate Regional Secretary on the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology council. Dr. Hurairah is currently the lead of the Children’s Eye Service in Brunei Darussalam and is an outreach ophthalmologist for the Brunei Flying Medical Service. She is a volunteer faculty ophthalmologist for Orbis International and has participated in prevention of blindness programs in Mongolia and Chile. Dr. Nada Jabbur, MD, Lebanon (Session 2A, Moderator)

Head of Dept of Ophthalmology, Clemenceau Medical Center, Beirut Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, American Universitry of Beirut Dr. Nada S. Jabbur is an American Board-Certified Ophthalmologist who specializes in the surgery of the Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery (Lasers and Cataracts). She has an international reputation and expertise in refractive surgery including laser vision correction as well as cataract surgery with the uses of different lens intraocular implants for correction of myopia (phakic IOL), astigmatism (toric IOL) and presbyopia (multifocal IOL). She was involved in the initial USFDA clinical trials that lead to the approvals of the excimer laser for refractive surgery. She is the first doctor in Lebanon to use the femtosecond laser technology in the bladeless creation of LASIK flaps and creation of tunnels for intracorneal ring segments in keratoconus patients. She completed her undergraduate education at the American University of Beirut and her medical degree at McGill University in Montreal Canada. Her medical internship was completed at Roosevelt Hospital, Columbia University and her ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University. Her research and clinical fellowships were completed at the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School and at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital respectively. She worked in the world-renowned top ophthalmology department The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital between 1995 and 2005 where she was Medical Director of Wilmer Satellite Office at Greenspring and achieved the Rank of Associate Professor of Ophthalmology. Ms. Elizabeth Kishiki, ICHD, MPH (Session 1B, Panelist)

Childhood Blindness and Low Vision Coordinator Kilimanjaro Centre Community Ophthalmology, KCCO Co-Chair of IAPB Gender Equity Work Group Elizabeth is a leader in eye care across the Africa region. As the first coordinator for childhood blindness and low vision in Africa, she champions eye care for women and girls in countries where they often have less access to services than men. She is a skilled planner and teacher and for the last 14 years has made measurable impact developing eye care among marginalized groups and has developed innovative programming to reach women and children in isolated areas. Elizabeth incorporates the whole spectrum of care for children, from establishing mechanisms to identify children with eye conditions early in life, to helping sight- impaired children maximize the use of vision they do have. She provides technical assistance around counseling parents and children; coordinating with other clinics in the area to provide efficient and reliable care, setting up a tracking system for children for referrals and follow- ups, and training schoolteachers on the importance of early identification of eye conditions. She assists with the development of national pediatric eye care plans and has helped establish several Child Eye Health Tertiary Facilities, in areas that include Kitwe (), Blantyre (Malawi), Gondar (), Antananarivo (Madagascar), Tororo (Uganda), and Bujumbura (Burundi). In addition to advising Seva Foundation, she advises other international NGOs and has most recently helped CBM establish low vision programs in Nigeria, as well as Light for the World International in Mozambique to conduct situational analyses to assess child eye health. She has been involved in writing a series of manuals to assist hospitals and eye health professionals in the child eye health field. Topics include childhood cataracts in Africa, low vision care, and preferred practices. She is a published researcher on topics and questions related to childhood blindness and pediatric eye care services. She is a co-chair for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) Gender Equity Working Group, whose purpose is to raise awareness, share ideas, and disseminate evidence on gender equity approaches. Ms. Kishiki is a true eye care superstar and her efforts further Seva Foundations’ commitment to providing quality eye care to women and children in Africa. She inspires confidence in her colleagues of Kilimanjaro Centre for Community Ophthalmology and the community-based program teams with whom she works.

Dr. Paul Lee, MD, USA (Session 2A, Panelist) F. Bruce Fralick Professor and Chair Department of Ophthalmology, University of Michigan Medical School Director, W.K. Kellogg Eye Center Paul P. Lee, M.D., J.D., is the F. Bruce Fralick Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Michigan; and Director of the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center. He has published over 270 papers on glaucoma and eye care delivery in general, particularly on understanding and improving eye and health care. His research interests include improving access to and the quality of health care, patient-centered care, and exploring the impact of health policy and financing on patients and populations. Dr. Lee has also been a consultant for the CDC and the WHO, as well as RAND. He currently serves as the President of NAEVR/ AVER, President of the Association of University of Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) and is on the Board of Advisors for the Hoskins Center on Patient Safety and Quality for the Foundation of the AAO. In addition, Dr. Lee serves on the Board of Directors of the Society of Heed Fellows, Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology, and the American Glaucoma Society, and has served as the vice-chair and chair-elect of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Lee is the immediate past Chair of the Foundation of the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Lee received his law degree from Columbia University in 1986. Dr. Susan MacDonald, MD, USA (Session 2B, Panelist)

President EyeCorps Associate Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Susan MacDonald is an Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and Internal Medical Residency at Brown University. She then went on to complete a residency in Ophthalmology at the Moran Eye. She completed a fellowship in Medical Education and in 2018, she left private practice to focus full time on Cataract Blindness, leading a new foundation called Eye Corps. Eye Corps’ focus is helping cataract surgeons in resource-poor areas providing mentorship, equipment loans, and staff training. She has a background in residency teaching, clinical research and consultant for medical device industry. She and her colleagues have created an approach to ensure females are aware, encouraged and provided eye care.

Dr. Ciku (Wanjiku) Mathenge, MD, Rwanda (Session 1A, Panelist)

Consultant Ophthalmologist and Director of Training Rwanda International Institute of Ophthalmology Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Rwanda, Rwanda After medical school and ophthalmology studies at the University of Nairobi, Ciku worked in a rural eye clinic in Kenya for 10 years before relocating to Rwanda in 2009 to become the Head of Ophthalmology Department at the Kigali Health Institute (University of Rwanda). She was appointed as Professor of Ophthalmology in 2016. Ciku, a consultant ophthalmologist with medical retina subspecialty, is a co-founder and Director of Training and Research at the Rwanda International Institute of Ophthalmology (RIIO). RIIO offers community services, conducts research and trains ophthalmic workers including the first Ophthalmology residency program in Rwanda. Ciku has an MSc in Community Ophthalmology from University College London. Ciku was the first certified researcher in Africa on the Rapid Assessment of Avoidable blindness survey methodology (RAAB). In 2006 she was awarded the first Sir John Wilson Fellowship and thus pursued her PHD at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine researching on retinal diseases in African eyes. She has worked extensively with WHO AFRO developing a catalogue of eye indicators and the WHO AFRO Primary Eye Care training manual. Ciku has been the Medical Advisor for Africa for the Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF) and currently for Orbis International. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) from 2014 to 2021 and heads the Education Committee of the College of Ophthalmology of East Central and Southern Africa (COECSA). She is also the vice president of the Rwanda Ophthalmology Society. Dr Ciku has over 50 publications in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Maria José Montero Romero, MD, Mexico (Session 2A, Panelist)

Head of Ophthalmology Orbis International, Flying Eye Hospital Dr. Maria Montero completed her residency in ophthalmology at the Asociación para Evitar la Ceguera (APEC), in México. In 2013, she started her subspecialty year in anterior segment of the eye, focusing on complicated and difficult cataract surgery. She has participated in campaigns to do free cataract surgery in places that do not often have access to it. Dr. Montero, served as head of the cataract department and teaching director, at a hospital in Mexico City in 2016. Her major interests are cataract surgery and glaucoma. She joined the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital team in January 2017 as a staff ophthalmologist and was promoted to Head of Ophthalmology in 2018. CEO, Women in Ophthalmology Founder & Medical Director, Warrenville EyeCare and LASIK Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology, University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary Dr. Lisa Nijm is a board certified corneal surgeon at Warrenville Eyecare and LASIK, a licensed attorney, and an assistant clinical professor of ophthalmology at University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago. She also serves as the CEO of Women in Ophthalmology (WIO), mentors physicians through MDNegotiation.com and advises leading medical device and pharmaceutical companies on new innovations in ophthalmology. Her career to date has been a study in taking the extra step, teaching the extra course, earning the extra degree, and, going above and beyond to make sure no stone is left unturned in her efforts to meet her patients’ needs. She was the first surgeon in central Illinois to perform femtosecond LASIK, has taught over 2500 ophthalmologists as co-director of the Osler National Ophthalmology Board Review and has received numerous honors and awards, including being named one of the top 50 most influential ophthalmologists in the world on The Ophthalmologist’s Power List in 2019 and on the top 100 most influential women ophthalmologists globally on The Ophthalmologist’s Power List in 2021. Dr. Erin Shriver, MD, FACS, USA (Session 1B, Moderator)

Clinical Professor University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Jim O’Brien Gross and Donnita Gross Chair in Ophthalmology Erin Shriver, MD, FACS is a Clinical Professor and the Jim O’Brien Gross and Donnita Gross Chair in Ophthalmology within the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa. She is actively involved in clinical practice, teaching, research, and advocacy. Dr. Shriver has been involved in WIO and passionate about WIO’s mission since she was a fellow. She chaired the Summer Symposium in 2013, has served on the Board of Directors since 2014, and was WIO President in 2020. She is also Immediate Past President of the Iowa Academy of Ophthalmology and has participated in the Leadership Development Program through AAO. Dr. Shriver serves as the ASOPRS AMA Delegate and Secretary of the ASOPRS Foundation. Her research interests include advances in oculoplastic techniques, critical analysis of current oculoplastic practices, establishing novel metrics for eyelid position and aesthetics, thyroid , intimate partner violence in ophthalmology patients, and the physics of eyelid malposition. When she is not working, she enjoys exercising and spending time with her husband and sons.

Dr. Lucia Silva, MD, Guatemala (Session 1A, Moderator)

Medical Director, Ophthalmologist, Glaucoma and Cataract Specialist VISUALIZA, Guatemala Lucía Silva finished her Ophthalmology Residency at Guatemala University of San Carlos in 2013, then did a Glaucoma Fellowship in the National Unit of Ophthalmology (UNO) in 2014. Currently is doing a Digital Health Management Master in ADEN Business School. Currently she is the President of the Directive Board of the Guatemalan Glaucoma Society, Member of SEVA Foundation Global Medical Directors Council, International Member of the AAO, PAAO, WIO among other associations. In 2015 she started working in VISUALIZA, one of Central America largest eye clinics, that provides quality and equity services, giving special attention to low-income people with blindness prevention programs, performing more than 35 % of all cataract surgeries in the country. In 2017 she was selected as VISUALIZA new Medical Director. Since then, she has implemented Protocols to improve patients’ medical and surgical management, a continuous medical education program for Ophthalmologists, Assessed training programs for Allied Ophthalmology Personnel, Upgraded attention in clinical and surgical processes, Supported the implementation of the Digital Medical Record, Lunched a new Internal Research Department, and currently working in other projects as Developing tools for patient education using technology, Strengthening and Establishing Vision Centers, etc. She aims to boost innovation, focus on quality and spread knowledge in all her surroundings.

She went to Medical school in the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University (USMBA) in Fez, Morocco where she graduated with honors in January 2015. She then pursued a 5-year ophthalmology residency training at the Mohammed V University of Rabat, Morocco and obtained the Moroccan Ophthalmology Board Exam in December 2020. Additionally, Dr. Tarib did a Research Fellowship in Cataract Refractive Surgery alongside Dr. Florian Kretz in Rheine, Germany in 2017-2018. She is the founder of Young Ophthalmologists of Morocco (YOM), the Co-Founder of Women in Ophthalmology Arabia (WIO Arabia), a YO Committee member of the Global Education and Research Society of Ophthalmology (GERSO) and a media partner leader of Eyefrica, a media platform for eye care professionals in Africa. She is currently a candidate for the American Board exams (USMLE) to apply for a second Ophthalmology residency in the United States.

Director and Consultant, Swanetra Eye Hospital, Medical Director, Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan Dr. Swati Tomar did her MBBS and MS in Ophthalmology from J N Medical College, Aligarh, India and her Fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment Services from L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and joined as Adjunct Faculty there. She is presently Director and Consultant, Swanetra Eye Hospital at Jaipur, India. She has also been the Medical Director at the Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan, Jaipur, India for last 15 years, which is a unique Community Eye bank. She is Professor in Department of Ophthalmology, NIMS Medical College, Jaipur. She is the first women corneal surgeon in state of Rajasthan, India to have done maximum corneal surgeries for eliminating reversible Corneal Blindness. She received the Young Achiever Award in year 2017 for excellent work in field of medicine and helping eliminate Corneal Blindness in India. Additionally, she is a member of the Corneal Surgeons Task Force of SightLife USA, which is involved in training budding surgeons in Corneal Surgeries worldwide, and a member of State Blindness Control Society. She works for upliftment of women through various foundations and trusts to rebuild their career. She has special interest in Cornea, Ocular Surface and Refractive Surgery. She has numerous publications to her credit and has been a speaker in several national and international conferences. She is a mother of 2 and loves reading and travelling.

Dr. Tanya Trinh, MBBS, FRANZCO, Australia (Session 1B, Panelist)

Corneal, External Diseases and Refractive Specialist Save Sight Institute and Sydney Eye Hospital Dr. Trinh is a fully qualified ophthalmologist in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. Dr Trinh completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland where she was awarded a scholarship in Medical Leadership and the Australian Medical Association of Queensland Harold Plant Prize for Best All Rounded Graduate. Dr Trinh completed her ophthalmology specialist training under the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in Queensland. She then embarked upon an advanced two- year fellowship in Cornea, External Diseases and Refractive Surgery at the University of Toronto, Canada where she developed extensive expertise in corneal transplantation, pterygium surgery, ocular surface regeneration, complex anterior segment surgery and refractive surgery including LASIK, PRK and corneal collagen crosslinking for the treatment of keratoconus. Dr Trinh was awarded the position of Chief Fellow of the University of Toronto and subsequently received the prestigious Lim Memorial Prize for the subspecialty surgeon exemplifying best surgical and teaching skills. Dr Trinh then undertook a research fellowship in laser cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, dry eye treatments and ocular surface disease. Dr Trinh has now been invited to join the team at Sydney Eye Hospital, Australia as a Staff Specialist and is excited to be back home. She has published over 20 scientific journal articles in national and international journals, written book chapters on advanced corneal transplantation techniques and ocular surface disease and is a regular presenter on the national and international conference circuits. She teaches medical students, residents, registrars and fellows, is involved in the development of anterior segment curriculum teaching at the University of Toronto and contributes regularly to community optometry education. She is also a clinical associate lecturer for the University of QLD. She currently sits on the RANZCO Executive Committee for Women in Ophthalmology and is the Secretary for the Global Research and Education Society of Ophthalmology (GERSO).

Dr. Sara Wester, MD, FACS, USA (Session 1A, Moderator)

Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Orbital Surgery and Oncology Sara Tullis Wester, MD, FACS is an Associate Clinical Professor, University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She did her undergraduate training at Dartmouth College and worked in investment banking at Goldman Sachs & Co. prior to returning to medical school. Her medical degree is from Harvard Medical School. She is a board-certified Ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Orbital Surgery and Oncology in an American Society for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery accredited program. She specializes in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids. Her research focus is on adipose stem cells and their application in the treatment of thyroid eye disease as well as reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Her other research interests include laser treatment of surgical and traumatic scars. She has authored several chapters on stem cells in ophthalmology, multiple peer reviewed journal articles and serves as a reviewer for OPRS, Clinical Ophthalmology, and LIMS. She has received numerous rewards including the 2013 Leading Physicians of the World Top Ophthalmologists in Miami, Fl and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is a member of ASOPRS, AAO, FSO, ASLMS, WIO and NASBS. She practices in Miami, Fl and Coral Gables, FL at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
