College, India • Dr. Pooja Manghirmalani Mishra, University of Mumbai, India About the Course: Training Teachers for Artificial Intelligence in Schools This course is a Faculty Development Program specially designed keeping in mind the curricula requirement of the CBSE board and the Teacher Training Institutes. • It is developed to acquaint the teachers (in-service and trainee) with the world of Artificial Intelligence, its uses in the education system, real world and its intricacies. • The course covers the basics of Artificial Intelligence and elementary programming to give the teachers knowledge of application development in AI. • The course concludes with the session on how to teach Artificial Intelligence in classrooms covering the teaching-learning strategies needed for the school-level teaching. • The course is structured over the span of four days which are divided in lectures and hands-on training sessions equally. Objectives of the Course Following are the course objectives designed for the in-service and trainee teachers: • To define, explore and understand the world of Artificial Intelligence • To discover the uses of Artificial Intelligence in school teaching-learning • To infer the need of Artificial Intelligence in school curricula • To traverse through the practical aspects of Artificial Intelligence • To demonstrate the applications of Artificial Intelligence • To apply Artificial Intelligence in school teaching • To perform data analytics using Machine Learning techniques • To test various methods for teaching Artificial Intelligence in classroom • To design a lesson plan for an Artificial Intelligence session for the students General Details • Learning will take place on Cisco Webex portal • Duration of the course is 28 hours • Number of Days: 4 • Course Fees: Nil • Assignment Submission portals: Google Forms /Google Drive/ Studio Grading Pattern • Each assignment is of 25 marks (Total 4 Assignments worth 100 marks) • All assignments have to be submitted with 72 hours of course completion • For the completion certificate, every participant has to procure 50 marks • e-Certificate will be provided within 10 working days after the course completion • Assessment will be formative and summative in nature Participant Enrolment Criteria • The participants should be in-service or trainee teachers (pursuing B.Ed. or BA Education or M.Ed. or MA Education) of any stream of graduation or post- graduation. • They should have a passion to explore the field of Artificial Intelligence. • Online registration is must. Artificial Intelligence for Content Development by Dr. Nikhil Rajput Assignments Day 1 Case Studies - Dr. Mahendra Kanojia Description: Teachers will be presented with the case-based problem of the real world scenario. Teachers are expected to formalise an AI based approach to a given case-based problem. The design vision of case-based problems would be related to the use of the instructor during the teaching-learning process. Day 2 Machine Learning in Practice- Dr. Subodh Deolekar Description: Teachers have to create simple Machine learning based example models using tools provided. Day 3: Introduction to AI Programming– Dr. Niketa Gandhi Description: Teachers will be introduced to a block based visual programming language - Scratch. They can use Scratch to create interactive stories, animations, games etc. and in the process help students to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively - essential skills for everyone in today's society! Teachers will be given two flash cards as assignments and will need to upload them in the studio. Day 4: Developing a Lesson Plan - Dr. Pooja Manghirmalani Mishra Description: Teachers have to prepare a lesson plan based on the content discussed in the three days of the FDP using the topic of the choice and incorporating the teaching-learning strategies discussed in the “How to teach AI?” session.
