HOUSTON ROCKETS CLUTCH CITY FOUNDATION GRANT REQUEST FORM CLUTCH CITY FOUNDATION MISSION Established in 1995 by Rockets owner Leslie Alexander, the Clutch City Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Houston Rockets. The mission of the foundation is to make a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate---especially children. The Clutch City Foundation supports a variety of causes, with the primary focus areas being disadvantaged youth and families. I Facts and Travel Plaintiffs operate the Toyota Center in downtown Houston, Texas, where they host fans and guests for various events. (Compl. ¶¶ 8-9.) Plaintiffs purchased an insurance policy (Policy) from Defendant Affiliated FM Insurance Company (AFMI) with coverage for property against “all risks of physical loss or damage, except as . [otherwise] excluded [in the Policy].” (Compl. ¶ 10; Compl. Ex. A (Policy), at Page 1 of 44.) The Policy included “Business Interruption Coverage[.]” (Policy, at Page 19 of 44.) When the presence of Covid-19 was discovered in the United States, federal, state, and local governments issued various orders restricting businesses, and by March 24, 2020, Toyota Center was closed to the public. (Compl. ¶¶ 25, 40-52.) Plaintiffs filed a claim with AFMI for business interruption coverage and alleged that Covid-19 caused physical loss and physical damage to their property. Id. ¶¶ 67, 70. After AFMI denied the claim, Plaintiffs filed this action alleging that AFMI breached various provisions of the Policy and the covenant of good faith and fair dealing and violated various laws by denying coverage.

Mahon Boston College University of Maine Chestnut Hill, MA, USA Orono, Maine, USA [email protected] [email protected] Abstract Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an area of organizational study with the potential to dramatically change lives and improve communities across the globe. CSR is a topic with extensive research in regards to traditional corporations; yet, little has been conducted in relation to the professional sports industry. Although most researchers and professionals have accepted CSR has a necessary component in evaluating a firm‟s performance, there is a great deal of variation in how it should be applied and by whom. Professional sports franchises are particularly interesting, because unlike most corporations, their financial success depends almost entirely on community support for the team. This paper employs a mixed-methods approach for examining CSR through the lens of the professional sports industry. The study explores how three professional sports leagues, the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Football Association (NFL), and Major League Baseball (MLB), engage in CSR activities and evaluates the factors that influence their involvement. Quantitative statistical analysis will include and qualitative interviews, polls, and surveys are the basis for the conclusions drawn. Power Finds New York Red Bulls, Chicago Fire, Anaheim Ducks, Houston Rockets Rank Highest in Respective Markets NEW YORK: 16 Aug. 2016 — Major League Soccer teams rank no lower than second in each of America’s four largest markets included in the inaugural J.D. Power 2016 Fan Experience Study,SM released today. The New York Red Bulls and Chicago Fire rank highest in their respective markets while the Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo rank second in theirs. The Fan Experience Study measures customer satisfaction of major pro sports teams in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston across seven factors. They are (in order of importance): seating area and game experience; security and ushers; leaving the game; arriving at the game; food and beverage; ticket purchase; and souvenirs and merchandise. Satisfaction is measured on a 1,000-point scale. Additional factors that were measured—but not included in the official ranking—were loyalty and future intentions; team performance (on-field); and team image. The Red Bulls score highest among New York teams for security and ushers (835); seating area and game experience (833); ticket purchase (819); food and beverage (795); and leaving the game (791). The Chicago Fire score highest among Chicago teams for souvenirs and merchandise (875); security and ushers (838); ticket purchase (795); food and beverage (783); and leaving the game (758). In the Los Angeles region, it is a National Hockey League team that ranks highest: the Anaheim Ducks.

Rockets Business Team Marcus Jolibois Chief Financial Officer Marcus Jolibois is in his 20th season as the organization’s Chief Financial Officer. He oversees all accounting, financial and administrative operations for the Houston Rockets and Toyota Center. In addition, Jolibois is responsible for the development and maintenance of the organization’s data and information systems. Jolibois also oversees the financial and administrative operations of the Clutch City Foundation, the non-profit charitable foundation established by Owner Leslie Alexander. He is also a member of the Senior Management Team for the Rockets and Toyota Center. A 1981 graduate of Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, Jolibois joined the Rockets staff on November 15, 1994, after working for eight years at Levitz, Zacks and Ciceric in San Diego, California. He served as the audit manager for the firm from 1986-94. Prior to his time with Levitz, BUSINESS TEAM Zacks and Ciceric, Jolibois worked for two years as an operational and financial auditor for a Fortune 50 Company in San Diego. From 1981-84, he began his accounting career with Peterson, Sullivan, and Co. in Seattle. TILMAN J. FERTITTA NEW OWNER OF THE HOUSTON ROCKETS HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets announced today that Tilman J. Fertitta has officially closed on his purchase of the NBA Houston Rockets and Clutch City Sports and Entertainment. The NBA Board of Governors unanimously approved Fertitta to join the ranks of an NBA owner yesterday, setting the stage for the commencement of the Fertitta era.
