If you’ve tuned in to The Ellen DeGeneres Show lately and noticed that the charismatic host is nowhere to be found, you’re not alone. Guest hosts including , , and tWitch have recently filled in for the 61-year-old, leaving fans wondering what’s happened to her. “Why has Ellen missed so many shows? Every time I turn it on, there’s a guest host,” one fan tweeted, while another asked, “I s Ellen actually still hosting ? She has a guest host like every other day.” So, where has Ellen been these days? Well, she’s likely just taking a couple of days off from work just like everyone else. Back in September, the comedian addressed why she’s been having guest hosts temporarily take her place. 9 Celebrities You Forgot Had Daytime TV Talk Shows. “Throughout the season, I’ve had wonderful people filling in for me as guest hosts. It’s a tradition that dates back to Johnny Carson, he would have guest hosts all the time. And I like to follow tradition, especially if it involves me missing work,” she joked. “You know how you can call in sick to work if you don’t feel well? I can’t do that,” she continued. “So for 15 seasons, I have been here everyday, even when I’m sick or have a bad back or get a paper cut. I mean, I’m a hero. I work in day in and day out to bring you some of the best entertainment a show can ever offer, so I decided that once in a while I need to take a day off… to run errands or buy a house.” It definitely makes sense that Ellen would bring in guest hosts so she’s able to take a day off once in a while, but that hasn’t stopped the fans from questioning her whereabouts on social media — and even coming up with some bizarre theories of their own. One fan in particular tweeted, “Ellen keeps having guest hosts. Anyone else think she’s pregnant?” 9 Stars Whose Late-Night Talk Shows Didn't Make the Cut. Ellen read the tweet out loud to her audience who immediately burst into laughter. “What?!” she said. “No! No one else thinks that. Why are you jumping to that conclusion?” All jokes aside, Ellen has made it clear that she’s not going anywhere. “I just signed for three more years. I appreciate the concern — I’m alive, I’m well, I’m only a little bit pregnant. And I’m going to host this show for years to come,” she said. The Ellen DeGeneres Show , Weekdays, 3pm EST, NBC. Ellen DeGeneres Addresses Controversy in Season 18 Premiere: 'She Didn't Hold Anything Back,' Source Says. After teasing that she would "talk about it," Ellen DeGeneres is kicking off the season 18 premiere of The Ellen DeGeneres Show by directly addressing the allegations about numerous complaints of workplace toxicity. "She didn't hold anything back," a source tells PEOPLE about DeGeneres' opening monologue. "It was poignant and funny and very much a candid take on what happened over the summer. She understands her audience wants to hear from her and is looking forward to talking directly to them on Monday." Leading up to the premiere, the source says DeGeneres was "connecting with the staff over Zoom" and "knows that it's on her to make sure everyone feels like they're being heard and valued." Then, on the day the season 18 premiere was filmed, DeGeneres was supported by her wife and the crew applauded when the host walked off the set, according to the source, who says: "It was an emotional moment for everyone; she thanked everyone." The NBC daytime , which was originally expected to return on Sept. 9, was clouded in controversy this summer after BuzzFeed News published a report in which one current and 10 former staffers spoke anonymously about their experiences on set, including claims of being penalized for taking medical leave, instances of racial microaggressions and fear of retribution for raising complaints. In late July, Warner Bros. launched an internal investigation that concluded in August when DeGeneres, 62, spoke to her 270 employees via an emotional video conference, during which she apologized and confirmed that three top producers — Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and Jonathan Norman — exited the show. "Ellen has come away from this reinvigorated and devoted to working hand-in-hand with the staff to bring joy and humor to the fans," the source shares. "Ellen is excited to be back on set and wants this to be the best season yet." As the show moves forward with production on season 18, the source says DeGeneres and the staff are "happy to be back at work together," adding that they're "taking it one day at a time, but so far the environment on set already feels different." An in-studio audience will not be present due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but celebrity guests will be appearing alongside DeGeneres. joins DeGeneres on the Burbank, California, set as the season's first guest. Kerry Washington, , K-pop star SuperM and Kris Jenner are scheduled to appear during premiere week. , , and The Social Dilemma 's Tristan Harris are the latest slate of stars booked for the fall. Previously announced guests include Blake Shelton, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Amy Schumer and Orlando Bloom. Stephen "tWitch" Boss is also set to guest host upcoming episodes with Dancing with the Stars judge Derek Hough as one of the interviewees. Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi were at home during burglary, have heavily updated security: report. The couple's reported $27 million Montecito home was burglarized on July 4. The home of talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, was burglarized earlier this month -- and apparently, the couple was inside when the scary incident unfolded, according to a new report. Per TMZ, citing sources, DeGeneres, 62, and de Rossi, 47, were at their Montecito, Calif. mansion on July 4 when the break-in occurred. They weren't harmed, reports the outlet, adding that it is unclear if either of them had any contact with the suspect or suspects. Insiders also told the outlet that the couple has since made a number of security improvements, which allegedly include, "hiring a new security company, installing laser sensors and cameras around the entire property" as well as "hiring armed patrol guards." (Photo by Granitz/WireImage) On Thursday, the Santa Barbara County Sherriff's Office confirmed the news in a press release. "The residence appears to have been targeted due to the victim’s celebrity status," the release states. "The exact description of the items that were taken is not available for release, but they are described as high-value jewelry and watches." An "extensive and ongoing" investigation is being conducted by "sheriff’s detectives and forensics technicians," authorities said. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi (Reuters) In addition, according to the release, "the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is in contact with other law enforcement agencies to determine" if the incident is "related to additional recent celebrity home burglaries." TMZ reported that the home, where the comedian had been hosting her show amid the coronavirus pandemic, was purchased for $27 million in early 2019. The burglary comes amid a rough patch for DeGeneres, as staffers from her show, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," have come forward with accusations of an alleged toxic work environment. Neither DeGeneres nor de Rossi has addressed the burglary publicly. Reps for both DeGeneres and de Rossi did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment. What, Exactly, Is Going On With Ellen DeGeneres? First it was Sqirl jam, then it was Goya Foods, then it was Will and Jada’s relationship. Every week or so, it seems there’s a dramatic new story consuming that might appear totally incomprehensible to the casual observer. The most recent controversy concerns Ellen DeGeneres, the 62-year-old comedian and host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show who broke barriers for representation onscreen throughout her career. DeGeneres’s legacy was recently lauded in a moving Oscars speech by Kate McKinnon, but her jokey, dance-prone TV persona is belied by what many former staffers have called a “toxic workplace culture.” Below, get all the details on the DeGeneres imbroglio. How did these allegations surface? In March, comedian Kevin T. Porter started a Twitter thread asking people to contribute “the most insane stories you’ve heard about Ellen being mean,” with donations going to a Los Angeles food bank. The replies quickly hit almost 3,000, and four months later, Buzzfeed News published an investigation in which one current and 10 former Ellen employees told stories of “day-to-day toxicity,” including being fired after taking medical leave or bereavement days to attend family funerals, being subjected to racist micro-aggressions in the workplace, and being told never to speak to DeGeneres around the office. Who else has spoken up about The Ellen DeGeneres Show ’s workplace culture? In April, show crew were reported to be “distressed and outraged” over their treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic, which allegedly included no written communication about the status of their working hours, pay, or inquiries about their mental and physical health from producers for more than a month. As of July 27, The Ellen DeGeneres Show had officially been placed under investigation by WarnerMedia. More recently, former employees spoke out about being subjected to sexual harassment and misconduct at the hands of several of the show’s executives producers— even Brad Garrett has jumped into the fray. This weekend, after DeGeneres had issued a statement that suggested the show’s producers were responsible for the show’s troubled atmosphere, the Everybody Loves Raymond actor tweeted, “Sorry but it comes from the top ⁦@TheEllenShow Know more than one who were treated horribly by her.⁩ Common knowledge.” How has DeGeneres responded? DeGeneres issued an apology to staff last week, and her wife—actor Portia De Rossi—made a statement on Monday, posting on her account, “To all our fans.…we see you. Thank you for your support,” and adding the hashtags #stopbotattacks, #IStandWithEllenDeGeneres, #IStandByEllen, #IStandByEllenDeGeneres, and #bekindtooneanother. (By Monday afternoon, it had gotten 49,600 “likes”—and no, we don’t know what the “bot attacks” reference means at this time.) Will DeGeneres resign? There’s no substantial evidence of that at this point (and her current contract takes her through 2022), but the rumor mill is busy as ever: Gossip is swirling about British comedian James Corden allegedly being tapped to replace DeGeneres, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Celebrities Who Can't Stand Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen DeGeneres is, indisputably, one of TV's favorite faces. Since its launch in September 2003, The Ellen DeGeneres Show has shattered ratings records and helped her become one of the biggest names in Hollywood. In 2016, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and, in 2017, at age 59, she broke the People's Choice Awards record for most wins when she took home her 20th award. Despite all those accolades and her huge fan base, daytime's nicest host has managed to make a few enemies along the way. These are the celebrities who supposedly can't stand the comedic icon. Did Ellen DeGeneres tear down Joan Rivers? 's stink with Ellen DeGeneres is apparently somewhat of an onion. Peel back the layers, and the whole thing supposedly stems from another alleged feud with another comedic legend. In a November 2016 interview with , Griffin explained that her bad blood with DeGeneres is rooted in the latter's alleged rocky relationship with the late Joan Rivers. "In my very last dinner with Joan Rivers, we would always check in with each other, and I'd be like, 'Where are you with Ellen?' and she'd be like, 'Ugh, still hates me!' And she'd go, 'Well, what about you?' and I'd say, 'Oh, she thinks I'm mean,'" Griffin claimed. "The truth is, I guess I feel like I'm sticking up for a pal . There's so few female comics over 50 . I wish we were at supporting each other." Griffin continued with a passive-aggressive compliment of sorts: "Joan Rivers didn't have a mean bone in her body, and I wish Ellen would have really celebrated her more because Ellen has such an amazing, incredible platform . Joan broke the glass ceiling for women talk show hosts." She and Drew Barrymore are supposedly like 'oil and water' When NBC's First Dates launched in April 2017, it appeared to have all the makings of a hit show. Executive produced by Ellen DeGeneres and narrated by Drew Barrymore, the series set out to "explore all of the simple wonders of a first date." But according to In Touch Weekly , the relationship between the show's celebrity duo may have been anything but amorous. "Ellen and Drew are a case of oil and water," a source cited by the mag alleged. "Ellen expected to be the one calling the shots, but Drew thinks she should have creative control because she's the movie star people are tuning in to see." Rumor has it that Kelly Ripa felt betrayed by Ellen DeGeneres. Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan were one of the morning show circuit's favorite couples while co- hosting Live! with Kelly and Michael from 2012 to 2016, but when the latter abruptly announced he was leaving the show to join ABC's , their relationship quickly crumbled. When Ellen DeGeneres invited Strahan to appear on her show in October 2017, Ripa was reportedly none too pleased. According to Star (via Gossip Cop ), "Cozying up with Michael was like telling the world she had taken his side and was taunting Kelly," which left Ripa "livid." The tabloid claimed that "it took [DeGeneres] a little while, but after the show aired, she realized how hurtful it must have been" and allegedly reached out to Ripa to apologize. Caitlyn Jenner said she 'got burnt' by Ellen DeGeneres. During a headline-making appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2015, Caitlyn Jenner was asked about same-sex marriage and admitted, "At first, I was not for it." Following that interview, DeGeneres accused Jenner of passing "judgment against gay people and marriage" during an interview with Howard Stern. show host even quipped, "Maybe [Jenner] didn't want to dance with me [on the show] because I'm a lesbian." Jenner revisted that infamous interview with DeGeneres years later in her memoir, The Secrets of My Life , and during an appearance with radio personality Andy Cohen. "I got burnt by Ellen on marriage equality," she told Cohen, explaining that DeGeneres had asked Jenner before the interview to talk about her shifting views on marriage equality. Jenner agreed. "I kind of explained my progression . but then all of a sudden, Ellen comes back and says, 'Sounds like you're really not for it.' I said, 'No I just said I was for it but it was a progression.' She went on Howard Stern and kind of upped the ante and Howard goes, 'Yah, I can't believe Caitlyn's not for marriage equality.'" Jenner also addressed the controversial dancing comment, clapping back, "Why should somebody in my community say something like that? I don't think it helps the community. I don't think it helps me. I don't think it helps her. I would have danced with her in a heartbeat. She never asked me to dance." Piers Morgan thinks DeGeneres is a hypocrite. Ellen DeGeneres ruffled a lot of feathers when she took to Twitter in 2017 to wish a happy birthday. "Happy birthday, @KatyPerry! It's time to bring out the big balloons!" DeGeneres wrote, cheekily referencing a line from the singer's hit 2013 song, "Birthday." The post would perhaps have been innocent enough, if not for the fact that the talk show host paired her well-wishes with a snap of herself gawking at the pop star's breasts, highlighting the lyric's sexual innuendo. Backlash against DeGeneres was swift and severe, with some even comparing her to disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. Celebrities also voiced disapproval, including actor Michael Rapaport, who tweeted, "Imagine if Cam Newton or any other man sent out this tweet & photo." One of the most vocal critics was TV journalist Piers Morgan. "If a man made this joke," he tweeted out, "Ellen would lead the cries of 'SEXIST PIG!'" Morgan used those same words to describe DeGeneres in 2016, after she displayed a shirtless photo of Chris Hemsworth during her People's Choice Awards acceptance speech. "I was disgusted," Morgan wrote for the Daily Mail . "In fact, I've never been so offended by anything in my entire life." Susan Sarandon slammed her friendship with George W. Bush. In October 2019, Ellen DeGeneres was photographed sitting next to George W. Bush at an NFL game in Dallas, which instantly sparked controversy on social media. The comedian and former president were watching the Dallas Cowboys face off against the Green Bay Packers in the Cowboys' suite when they were spotted chatting and laughing together. DeGeneres later defended herself against the backlash over their unlikely friendship in an episode of her talk show, preaching kindness and saying, among other things, "I'm with a lot of people who don't share the same beliefs that I have." However, a number of celebrity critics came forward to condone her openness. Actress Susan Sarandon was one of said critics. Sharing a quote from an Out magazine article titled, "Ellen is 'Friends' with Bush — but He was No Friend to LGBTQ+ People," she decided to highlight one particular passage on Twitter: "But missing the point entirely, DeGeneres framed the issue as simply a matter of her hanging out with someone with different opinions, not a man repeatedly accused of being a war criminal." The bad vibes between Kathy Griffin and Ellen DeGeneres go way back. In 2016, two-time Emmy-winner Kathy Griffin published a tell-all book dubbed Kathy Griffin's Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index . In the book, Griffindished dirt on more than 125 celebs, including Ellen DeGeneres who, interestingly, she didn't name outright. "I'm almost positive a certain beloved daytime talk show host once had me kicked out of a backstage dressing room at the Emmy Awards," Griffin wrote (via Us Weekly ), leaving little doubt about the host's identity. "I can't prove it, but this person, who has short blonde hair, has a mean streak that all of Hollywood knows about." Meanwhile, DeGeneres called Griffin "very mean" in an interview with W magazine. "I know she had a big thing about wanting to be on the show . She did a whole thing that I banned her from the show," she said. "I didn't ban her from the show, because first you have to be on the show to be banned." Years have passed, but the drama is ongoing. Griffin told in 2016 that she received a harsh call from DeGeneres about Celebrity Run-Ins . "[DeGeneres] was extremely upset, and I think she had a thought that she was going to, like, put me in my place, or whatever, but as you know I'm not shut-uppable," Griffin said. "We kind of got into it . I admire her and, you know, it was a difficult conversation. But hey, it came with the territory." Mark Ruffalo didn't believe Ellen DeGeneres' talk of kindness. Marvel actor Mark Ruffalo was rubbed the wrong way by Ellen DeGeneres' surprising friendship with George W. Bush — and he made sure to let everyone know. The Avengers star voiced his disapproval on Twitter, writing, "Sorry, until George W. Bush is brought to justice for the crimes of the Iraq War, (including American-lead torture, Iraqi deaths & displacement, and the deep scars — emotional & otherwise — inflicted on our military that served his folly), we can't even begin to talk about kindness." Unfortunately for Ruffalo, the tweet may have given him a whole other (albeit indirect) reason to dislike DeGeneres, as it garnered its own share of backlash, most notably from veterans. Graham Allen, for example, responded with, "Sorry to interrupt your 'hulk smash' moment. I served with soo many that did soo much more than me, and we would do it ALL over again for our country! You don't get to speak for Veterans." Jameela Jamil understood the 'rage' Yet another celebrity to speak out against Ellen DeGeneres' unfaltering stance on her friendship with George W. Bush was actress Jameela Jamil. Following in the footsteps of Mark Ruffalo and Susan Surandon, The Good Place star turned to Twitter to make her voice heard. Admitting that it took her some time to decide which side of the debate to be on, the British star went on to explain why she had to agree with DeGeneres' critics. "Ooooof learning today about the full extent of Bush's heinous presidency," Jamil tweeted. "We weren't taught much about him at school, we just heard he was stupid. (we were dealing with our own epic nightmare of a prime minister back then). What a monstrous leader. I now understand the rage." Interestingly enough, the tweet may have actually caused some ramifications in her professional life, as Jamil's co-star on The Good Place , Kristen Bell, actually defended DeGeneres. In a since-deleted Instagram post, Bell uploaded photos of DeGeneres and Bush and wrote (via USA Today ), "She's my (queen)."
