The Steps – Yes to improved greenery, no to cement! 6. The Magistrála and its surroundings as a city boulevard

1 1. Quality schools: The foundation of the community /Representative: Michal Uhl/

You can’t have a good neighborhood without well-functioning schools. We want the Prague 2 schools to be more open, so that they can become neighborhood centers. Schools and pre-schools are important spaces where people can meet, and they have a fundamental impact on the lives of our children.

How: l We support community schools and preschools that would be able to offer the same range and quality of education as private school.

The Prague 2 City Hall must be a partner in developing and improving our schools. Current city officials perceive their role too narrowly; they attend primarily to the investment in equipment and maintenance of the school buildings, and don’t give enough attention to the educational quality of the schools.

How: l We want the City Hall to provide real support for the Prague 2 schools, offering them organizational and administrative support. For example, the City Hall could provide assistance with the schools’ websites.

We support municipal assistance for teacher development and education.

How: l We want official financial support for teachers in their own continuing education. In today’s society, the ability of both children and adults to develop and practice critical thinking is a key competence for success.

We support teacher internships.

How: l We want to improve the quality of our schools by helping them participate in the Erasmus program, in which teachers can visit schools in other European countries to learn about other modern educational practices and new teaching methods.

We will guarantee places in local preschools and improve their operations during holidays.

How: l We promise that no child of over three years of age, with permanent residence in Prague 2, will be denied entry into the preschool programs. l We will better map-out the needs of local family to ensure the satisfactory operations of the preschools, providing quality programs even during holiday

2 periods. We will do this even if it means additional cost for the increase in the number of school staff.

Quality school meals in Prague 2

How: l School cafeterias are under the administration of the City Hall. In addition to quality vegetarian dishes, the school cafeterias should be able to cook gluten- -free and low-fat meals, and should be able to accommodate allergy sufferers. l We will help the school chefs increase their knowledge and skills with training courses developed in accordance with modern gastronomic trends. l We can learn about other cultures through food. We will prepare a project that not only enhances the menu but also extends the horizons of the students. There will be“ Gastronomical Weeks” in the schools showcasing Greek, French, Italian, Asian and other cuisines.

2. The program for housing /Representative: Petr Hejna/

Prague 2’s municipal apartments must guarantee an assured standard of living for affordable rents.

How: l We will provide affordable housing for long-term residents of Prague 2 who cannot afford market rents. l In particular we will help those who are at a disadvantage in the current housing market: families with children, seniors, and single-parent families. l We will enable our seniors to stay living in Prague 2, even in cases in which the increase in rent costs would otherwise force them to move. l We will give seniors the opportunity to stay in their apartments as long as possible. Living assistance will be provided in their own homes. l We will conduct a comprehensive survey of the housing, social, and healthcare needs of seniors living on their own, with the aim of providing them better support. l We will improve the Prague 2 website to show the municipally-owned apartments that are available to rent.

We will preserve and expand the selection of municipally-owned apartments

How: l Instead of selling vacant apartments, we will repair and restore them to modern standards.

3 l We will convert unused office and commercial space into apartments. l We will improve the social housing for seniors by modifying the apartments to remove barriers.

Housing First: A project to prevent homelessness

How: l We will immediately begin a project to improve community support to help people stay in their own homes, and improve the health and social support for the homeless. The motto:“ Everybody needs a home.”

3. A Greener Prague 2 /Representative: Kateřina Jechová/

Streets where you can breathe.

How: l Wherever possible we will put more trees along the streets, including along major streets such as Rumunská, Resslova, and Legerova. Trees help make the streets healthier, more attractive, and increase the values in the area. l We will place more fountains and ponds in the public areas. l We will support the planting and care of flowers and plants along the streets of the neighborhood. l We will introduce support and advisory links for urban gardeners:“ Dvojka pro zahradníky.”

Composting is useful and fun.

How: l Composting can reduce the amount of municipal waste by up to 50%. l We will place community composting sites in places agreed with local residents. We will ensure the collection of unused compost.

Public parks are not meant to be a party zone, but an oasis of peace and quiet.

How: l We support well thought-out and efficient investment in the public parks. In place of short-lived ornamental flowers, we recommend the planting of perennials – they are equally attractive and more environmentally friendly. l We will place sorted waste bins in places they aren’t today.

4 l We will provide safe, public barbecue grills. l We will ensure compliance with noise regulations. We don’t want fireworks in the public parks.

4. The Prague 2 Neighborhood /Representative: Michal Tobrman/

We will not stand by and watch as many of the great buildings of Prague 2 fall apart. We will save and restore buildings such as the Vyšehrad Station, the Na Slupi Spa, the Borůvkovo Sanatorium, and the Královské Vinohrady Sokol in Riegrovy Sady.

How: l We will rigorously pursue all the options that the Prague 2 City Hall has. l We will attempt to buy the dilapidated Vyšehrad Station from its current private owner. After a sensitive reconstruction, we will make the building into a cultural center for Nusle and Vyšehrad. l In Riegrovy Sady, we will work in cooperation with the Sokol to revitalize the athletic fields and running track. With the support of the city, we will turn this center into a modern sports ground for the community.

Streets with trees become pleasant places to sit.

How: l We will place more benches in the streets and squares of Prague 2 to better serve the needs of residents and visitors to the hospitals. l We will not remove any benches from Náměstí Míru, including in the winter.

We will improve the quality of the public spaces, including apartment courtyards. We support community activity.

How: l We will provide financial support to apartment owners to develop new recreational or pleasant public areas around their buildings or in the communal courtyards. l We will develop new areas for communal gardening, similar to the Smetanka Garden area in Prague 2. l We will take proper care of the playgrounds. l We will add areas for adult recreational and sport activities in the parks.

5 We will develop more places where dogs can play off their leashes, for both the spring/summer and autumn/winter periods.

How: l We will improve respect both for the rules of those zones that allow dogs priority off-the-leash and those zones that prohibit dogs being off-the-leash. l We will add facilities in the parks to provide water for dogs. l We will build a Prague 2 dog agility park and playground.

We will improve the way waste is sorted

How: l We will develop better mechanisms for picking up full waste or recycling receptacles, so that no unsightly waste bin overflows form in the streets. l We will encourage homeowners to install sorted waste containers, including those for metal and biowaste, by providing the containers as subsidized prices.

5. Transportation in Prague 2 /Representative: Jana Duchková/

We only have one set of roads and sidewalks, and they need to accommodate everybody: pedestrians, motorists, cyclists, or those using scooters or wheelchairs.

Transportation should not be a source of stress. We need to calm the traffic in Prague 2.

A walk or a trip to work should be a pleasure, not full of stress. The safety and comfort of pedestrians is a priority!

How: l We will increase the time interval at the crosswalks on the Magistrala (Legerova and Sokolska streets) through central Prague 2. l We will propose further areas along the streets in which trees can be planted. l We will increase the number of crosswalks, adding them where they are missing, including more places with traffic lights to cross the Magistrala. We will listen to local residents for the suggested locations. l We will increase the number of areas that have a speed limit of 30km/hour in the residential areas of Prague 2. l We will provide better walking access to the main train station from Prague 2.

A quality residential parking system, in which residents must take precedence.

6 How: l We will propose reinstituting physical parking window stickers for the cars of residents for better visual control by residents. l In cooperation with local residents, we will focus on the better identification of potential mixed-use parking spaces and ensure good monitoring of their use. l We will develop a system of more frequent checks, so that only residents are parked in the blue zones after 6 pm on both working days and Sundays.

Support for public transport. Taking a tram should not be an adrenaline sport.

How: l We will place public transport orientation systems on the streets – showing the number of steps to the nearest bus, tram, or metro stop, and the directions they go. l We will work closely with the public transport authority before any changes are made to the routes or availability of handicap-accessible vehicles. l We support the development of a tram line from Vinohradska street to Wenceslas Square and the main railway station. l We will work to strengthen the capacity of public transport in Prague 2. In addition to new tram lines and the competition of the new D Line of the metro, we will also help develop alternative ways for those travelling by car to work.

Through traffic shouldn’t be in the city center! Calming the Magistrala.

How: l We will support and cooperate with the city on the completion of the Prague ring-road. l We will improve the settings and timing of the traffic lights at Sokolská, Legerova, Anglická, and Ječná. l We will improve cooperation with and on the creation of a new transport system in preparation for the new transit routes over the Dvorecký Bridge. l We will support the steps leading to the conversion of the Magistrala from a busy highway to a boulevard with less traffic.

The cyclist and their bike should be safe! Support of bicycling

How: l We will improve and better mark the cycling route at the Naplavka riverbank. l We will review the existing cycling routes and propose improvements, including extending the routes so that they are not only on the widest and busiest roads. l Where possible, we will introduce cycling paths that are separated from the road. This ensures safety for cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists. l We will put bicycle stands throughout Prague 2, in consultation with residents on their location. We will place bicycle stands in front of schools and other municipal buildings that show interest in having a stand.

7 Roadworks should be systematic and well-planned.

How: l We will insist on the active participation of the Prague 2 City Council in the creation of a strategic plan for roadworks and street reconstruction. l The Prague 2 administration must actively participate in the preparation of the road reconstruction plan within Prague 2, even if the plan is managed by the main Prague city administration or one of its maintenance companies. l We will publish a long-term reconstruction plan, so that comments by local firms and home owners can be included. l We will work with local residents on choosing which sidewalks will be included in the repair plans.

6. The cultural program /Representative: Ivana Milek/

We will create a new artistic“ HUB” to support artists of all types in the creation of new innovative projects.

We want to create spaces where artists can present their work to the public, whether on the premises of the HUB, or in one of the other public spaces of Prague 2. The HUB will also be available for rent for specially submitted projects, with non-commercial conditions. We will use the HUB to showcase Prague 2 as a center of culture and the development of new talent.

How: l We will first review the possibilities of establishing the HUB in one of the empty buildings in Prague 2. We will set the grant conditions and provide a manual to assist applicants in dealing with the administrative issues. In particular, we think that the Vyšehrad Station building or the Na Slupi Spa building would make excellent centers, if their structures can be restored.

We will introduce regular city council meetings with artists and representatives of cultural institutions.

How: l Every month, the councilors for culture, sport and civic activities will meet with artists and leaders of cultural and civic institutions for public discussion of their projects. We believe that an active, lively dialogue can provide a path to more lively culture in the district.

8 We will support the transformation of busy areas into high-quality public spaces. These public spaces will include places for high-quality modern art.

How: l New spaces for quality artworks will be created in locations chosen and restored using the principles of Jan Gehel’s study on making the Magistrala a more human space. The artists will be selected through public competitions.

We will follow the principal of“ Repair first, before building anew.” Monuments require regular care.

How: l We will carry out a proper inventory of the state of the monuments in the district and propose a plan and schedule of repairs.

We will create a comprehensive guide to cultural events in Prague 2. This will include not just the large institutions, but smaller groups and ensembles.

How: l We will establish a culture portal and map of cultural events that will be distributed in public places in Prague 2, so that it is easy for those interested to discover new places and activities.

Supporting encounters between cultures

How: l 20% of the residents of Prague 2 were not born in the Czech Republic. We will actively support cross-cultural exchange. An opportunity for such would be, for example, a festival of cultures introducing other national traditions.

7. A Safe Prague 2 /Representative: Jan Hruška/

We will work to improve the safety of Prague 2 residents. We will not be indifferent to individual security issues such as dangerous places on the roads, incidents around schools or playgrounds, damage to public or private property, or aggressive behavior by intoxicated people. This can be achieved by improving and tightening relationships in the neighborhood, having a closer relationship with the people we meet everyday, and with the people whose duty it is to protect us. It is in our common interest.

9 Safe streets and homes

How: l We support local police officers, and we want them to have a frequent physical presence across the district, especially, but not only, in high-risk areas. l We will work with the city police to analyze crime data to help focus their activities on preventing and solving specific, concrete safety problems. l We will improve security in those secluded places in the district in which people do not feel safe.

Safe schools

How: l We will support school programs that aim to prevent bullying and drug abuse. l We will take the needs of the young people of Prague 2 into consideration when establishing the grant and funding policy. We will have a balanced and fair discussion. l We will support projects to give young people and children interesting alternatives for their free time, such as expanding the activities of the Children’s and Youth’s House. (Handicapped-accessible centers, activity groups and clubs, affordable camps, and weekend trips.)

Safe pedestrian crossings

How: l We will add cross-walk lights at dangerous intersections. l We will extend the length of the green light for pedestrian crossings so that people are not forced to sprint across busy streets.

Safe parks

How: l In areas that currently lack adequate lighting, we will install better lighting and expand the zones that are covered. l We will strengthen the security of the parks, especially in the evening and that the night.

8. Social Solidarity /Representative: Kateřina Jechová/

We will improve social work and services in the district.

How: l We will analyze the current needs for social services, and we will use this analysis to target the services to those who most need them.

10 l We will actively work in partnership with non-profit organizations. l We will support home care for residents. l We will support non-profit organizations that do work for the public benefit. We will do this by providing reduced rent for their office space in Prague 2 through the use of the“ Municipal Interest” system. l We know that caring for family members and relatives can be complicated and difficult for on all side – we will help informal care-givers.

We will support social enterprise and care-givers.

How: l Health problems just like long-term stays in public children’s homes, cause a person’s connection to society to deteriorate. We will support social enterprises that create opportunities for people with health conditions or who are in a socially disadvantaged position in the labor market. We will do this via both preferential rent of publicly-owned office and work spaces, and by providing them visibility at events organized by the Prague 2 town hall.

The district will not turn its back on you in your old age.

How: l We will map the living conditions of seniors living alone in Prague 2, to help provide them good care, ideally in their own home. l Our goal will be to create an atmosphere in our day centers and senior facilities that resembles, to the extent possible, the conditions in standard homes. l We will make it possible for seniors to have high-quality, affordable food.

Prague 2 is a good place for families.

How: l We will expand the places where families with children meet and play, including community gardens, community centers, and playgrounds. l We will set up“ Family Points”: Barrier-free family-friendly places to care for young children and get information to help with family life. l We will make sure that the playgrounds for children have enough shade and places to get snacks. l Within the office of Prague 2 and in within the associated municipal offices, we will enable those caring for young children and ill family members to have part- -time employment contracts, and, if possible, home-office arrangements. l We will provide places in the municipal nurseries and ensure they provide a good quality service.

11 l We will extend services for children and teenagers from risky environments – we will build another accessible community center. l We will support the creation of services for early intervention care for families with disadvantaged children.

Dignified and compassionate end-of-life care.

How: l We will support home hospice care. l We will also offer quality care in hospice care facilities. l We will provide assistance to family members and care-givers.

Prague 2 less formal – more like a neighborhood and based on volunteering

How: l At Náměstí Míru, Karlovo náměstí, Palackého náměstí, Vyšehrad and Folimanka, we will support the charitable activities of NGOs.

l We will continue with current volunteering programs and encourage the inclusion of other organizations in the help to seniors, children, the handicapped, and socially disadvantaged citizens.

l We will secure containers for used clothes. We will support the organization of flea markets, bazaars and other events enabling the exchange of older used quality items. We will also support the transfer of such items to those in need

9. Open and transparent government /Representative: Otto Schwarz/

A neighborhood for citizens – an active citizen can change the neighborhood. It doesn’t stop with the elections, and participating isn’t Popularism. We will return“ self- -government” to its original meaning.

We will increase the information that Prague 2 residents have about the activities and decision-making of the city council and local administration.

How: l We will publish detailed minutes of the meetings and decisions of the Prague 2 City Council, including the voting record and explanatory statements of the members of the council (subject to compliance with the privacy act).

12 l When forming commissions and committees, we prefer to rely on people with expertise and experience with the given problem, and we are prepared to also approach non-partisan experts. l We will publish an online stream of the meetings of the Prague 2 city council. l We will publish a modern and well-designed newspaper for Prague 2, which will also have a user-friendly online version. l We will modernize the Prague 2 city administration’s website and bring its mobile version up to current standards. l We will develop a system of ambassadors for each section of Prague 2 (Vinohrady, Nové Město, Vyšehrad a Nusle). These specially-authorized members of the Prague 2 City Council will represent the needs of the city section to the council, and in turn be the point person to communicate with the residents of that section. We will also review the possibilities of building community centers to serve as“ living cells” for meetings between representatives and residents.

We will increase the funding for grants and subsidies, and introduce a“ Participatory Budget,” in which residents can review and have input into the district’s spending.

How: l Through the grant and subsidy policy, we will work to support the activities of local residents and associations. l Above all, we will support long-term projects that have a proven track-record. We will also support new and innovative ideas. l We will introduce“ Participatory Budgeting” so that residents can participate when the decisions are being made on the use of the funds from the privatization of the municipally-owned housing.

When awarding public contracts, we will do so under fully transparent conditions, with the aim of attracting the highest number of bidders.

How: l When awarding public contracts, we will talk with a minimum of 5 companies with whom the city has had a positive experience with in the past, companies that have produced quality work. l As the same time, we will make sure that even small contracts tenders are announced on the websites of the contracting city office and on the main website of the Prague 2 City Hall.

13 l We will extend the deadline for submission of bids to at least 15 days from the time that the announcement was made, in order to allow more bidders to participate in the tender process. l We will use an electronic bidding process for small-scale or under-the-limit contracts, limiting the possibility of bidders forming cartel agreements. l We will consider the cancellation of the selection process in all cases where only one potential supplier has submitted a bid or remains in the process.

10. Municipal Property in Prague 2 /Representative: Otto Schwarz/

The real-estate management business and operations of Prague 2 (Správa nemovitostí Praha 2 a.s.) will focus primarily on the quality of maintenance and management of the municipally-owned housing and Prague 2 school buildings. We will improve the services to the renters, making repairs and the rental process faster.

How: l We will carry out a comprehensive technical and structural review of municipally-owned buildings, especially the publicly-owned housing. l We will develop an on-line portal for tenants to have access to information on their apartment and rental contract. This will include an overview of payments, schedule of service and repairs, etc. l We will make it possible for tenants to request service and repairs on-line. l We will introduce a system of regular, bi-monthly inspections of the municipally- -owned apartment buildings. l We will speed-up the repairs of free municipally-owned apartments by dedicating more money to the repair fund from the money earned by the city from the sale of municipally-owned apartments in the prior years. l We will amend the rules on the purchase of municipally-owned apartments so that Prague 2 residents have an advantage. l We will support socially-beneficial activities by providing reduced rents on non- -residential space for groups acting in the public interest.

Investments will be planned and made in the areas of the city council’s authority – for property, education, and the environment.

How:

14 l During the planning of large investment projects, the financial impact on the budget of not just the current year, but the care or maintenance costs stemming from the project in future years, will be thoroughly evaluated. l We will strengthen and improve the transparency of the procurement and evaluation process. l For public tenders, we will follow the principals laid out in the“ Open and transparent government” section of this document, and use an electronic and transparent auction process.

The care and maintenance of public parks and green spaces will be managed by the Environmental Department of the Prague 2 Municipal Administration.

How: l We will implement and maintain a system of hiring specialized firms for maintenance and security of the parks, based on public contracts. l When considering larger park renovations, we will properly plan for and budget the ongoing care and maintenance of the area.

The program for specific parts of the city

Náplavka, a place where we can also live. It can work, if we put our minds to it. /Representative: Ivana Milek/

l We will work to ensure that the decisions on this area are made by Prague 2. The city district should make decisions about what happens on their territory. l We will work for a comprehensive solution to the operation of Náplavka and regulation of its commercial activities. The operation of Náplavka should be managed based on its location in the residential district, and the operations should respect the needs of the residents. It should contribute with its diversity to the development of the location and its capacity should match the characteristics of the location. l We will fight for an extension of the laws and regulations that control the usage of the public area (and not only for Náplavka), to ensure that there are both clearly stated times and noise limits, as well as defined penalties and

15 procedures if the rules are not followed. We will strictly enforce it. It can work, if we put our minds to it! l We will ask for a regular report and inspection from the strategic noise map under the rules of the European Commission. We will use it as a basis for checking compliance with the official regulations. We will promote the reduction of the noise levels on the site. l We will negotiate with the Prague City Hall, TPC and the administrator of Náplavka for the coordination of activities on both sides of the Vltava. This is to prevent the noise limits being broken. We will negotiate until we get an agreement. l We will review the possibility of setting up a police watch right in the area of Náplavka. l Náplavka is not only Rašínovo Nábřeží. It stretches from the Dancing House, through Palacky Square and Podskálí all the way to Vyšehrad. All of these locations are affected by the current disproportionately large traffic load and the entertainment operations along the river. l We will clearly mark a separate path for cyclists that will stretch across the Náplavka. We will also secure an alternative path on the parallel streets. For safe driving, for safe walking. l We will introduce regular meetings with the local community to address current issues and problems. We can make in easier, if we put our minds to it. l We will increase the numbers of days of the farmers’ markets to add an extra day in the middle of the week.

Charles Square as an oasis of comfort and safety. /Representative: Monika Turnovská/

Charles Square as an oasis of comfort and safety! Yes, this is the current dream of all those that live here, or even those who just want to meet their friends here or have a calm and quiet moment or let their kids play.

But so far, this is just a dream. We would like to make this dream come true for the people who live here. So we would like to at least partially improve the situation, primarily safety.

l We will have more frequent patrols by both the city and the state police in places such as the underground subway and in the park areas of the square. l In the negotiations with the Prague City Hall we will promote the accelerated construction of the city roads in order to reduce and calm the traffic in the city

16 center. Then it will become possible to revitalize the greenery around Charles Square, in a way that will make sense. l Initially we will propose a partial modification of the greenery, mainly in the southern part of the square, near the Faustuv House. We would also like to modify the parking system in the square. The residents here should have the ability to park their vehicles near where they live, and visitors of the hospitals should be able to park short term.

We are aware that our vision of Charles Square as an oasis of comfort is still a long- -term project. But we know that we can finish it, if we put our minds to it.

The Vinohrady Sokol – a tradition that deserves a modern coat /Representative: Michal Tobrman/

The Královské Vinohrady Sokol is not only one of the biggest Sokols in Prague, but it is also the largest Sokol area in the world. But at the same time, it is one of the most neglected buildings in Prague 2. The Sokol has sadly been marked by time and the chances of it being modernized are approaching zero. It is necessary for us to take urgent action and, after decades of inactivity, finally restore it, before it completely falls apart.

Without further delay we will begin a public debate with the Sokol leadership team about how they imagine the future of this unique complex of buildings. With your help we will add the Prague City Hall to the debate.

We will be sure to use a fair part of the proceeds from the privatization of the housing stock to serve the residents of Prague 2. Our children are constantly troubled by the lack of athletic facilities in their schools, including the lack of a proper swimming pool. In the meantime, the athletic field of the Sokol is being rented for concerts and private events rather than being used for sport. The main building of the Sokol needs major reconstruction work, that will include all of the following aspects: It needs to reduce its energy consumption, lengthen the swimming pool, restore the gym for our floor-ballers and create a number of smaller gyms for a variety of after school activities.

We all have dreams that we want to fulfill. If you share your dreams with us, don't hesitate to join us, or give us your vote in the election. We can do it, if we put our minds to it.

17 Jamrtál as a culture and sport paradise. /Representative: Michal Uhl/

Nusle is not a shadowy area of Prague and Folimanka is definitely not a suspect location under the , but a park with an enormous potential. But this potential is unfortunately wasted.

We want to give Folimanka a facelift and new concept. More and more cities are working with their public space and are actively thinking about how to increase their usage to an entirely different level.

Our vision for Folimanka is: a modern, welcoming and safe recreation area, within nature, for all age groups, available seven days a week. The sport facilities would be combined with places for adjacent seating, grilling and even walks with dogs. We will give Folimanka a new face. We can do it, if we put our minds to it.

The Nusle Steps – Yes to improved greenery, no to cement. /Representative: Michal Uhl/

The Nusle Steps are one of the most poetic parts of Prague 2. It is no wonder that this became the meeting place of a group of people that call themselves the“ Friends of the Nusle Steps”. It was this group that presented the vision of how this space could look. We will support associations that have such visions for their neighborhoods.

We reject insensitive developer projects, such as the large proposed development in the protected Roubenka Gardens, which would have disrupted the character of the neighborhood and astonishingly, the current city council gave this project a thumbs up. We also reject the absurd plan from the City Hall for the construction of a large underground garage in the tight space of the Nusle Steps by the former Vinohrady Train Station.

We will also begin discussions with the owner of the green area by the Steps about buying the area and the protected gardens and then sensitively recultivating it.

We will also revive the area around the old train tracks. We will plant new trees, and we will fix the chapel. The overall reconstruction of the Nusle Steps should also focus on solving the safety issue, including the growing number of drug addicts and homeless people. We can do it, if we put our minds to it.

18 The Magistrála and its surroundings as a city boulevard /Representative: Jan Hruška/

With the cooperation of neighboring districts, we would like to transform the Magistrala (Sokolska and Legerova streets) and its surroundings into a city boulevard that will not only offer calmer traffic conditions, but also space for relaxation, visits to unique stores, and seating in parks and gardens.

We will promote a reduction in the number of car lanes between the Nusle Bridge and the main train station.

In the same area we will construct separate cyclist paths, that will join Vinohrady with Pankrác and Vyšehrad on one side and with Žižkov and Karlín on the other side.

We will put greenery and new parking places in place of the car lanes that have been removed.

We will create new crosswalks with lights for pedestrians, and on the existing crosswalks we will lengthen the green light intervals.

We will implement traffic-calming measures on the streets of Žitná and Rumunská, and we will add greenery and a parking strip to them.

We will create a new pedestrian zone on both sides of I. P. Pavlova Square, and also add a better sidewalk joining Legerova and Tylov Square. We will consider adding a pedestrian zone on Jugoslávská street between Bělehradská and Náměstí Míru.

In these zones we will add new benches, bins, fountains, and ornamental elements. We will plant new greenery as well.

On Fügnerov Square we will replace the difficult-to-traverse and dangerous underpasses with surface cross-walks. We will revive this square, similarly to the others, and convert it into a pleasant place for relaxation.

19
