It has contributed much to public information in its chosen field. At its monthly meetings have been read and dis- cussed more than seventy-five specially pre- pared essays and addresses treating of the City of Washington in many highly inter- esting phases. These papers have been his- torical, biographical, statistical, and descrip- tive, embracing a wide range of information from original sources, and personal reminis- cences. A selection from them has been published in book form, in the series entitled records of the Columbia Historical Society already extending to six volumes. A list of the subjects treated follows. The growing prevalence of the historical spirit in America, and especially in the larger cities, to which Washington belongs, invites a wider extension of the membership of this Society. You are respectfully invited to become a member. The annual dues of members of the (Cnlumbta Iftfltortral g^rirtu, are Five Dollars, with no initiation fee, and it is believed that this value is fully returned to members, in the permanent and interesting publications furnished to them without charge. All citizens interested in the past and present of the Capital City and the District of Columbia, are invited to become mem- bers and to attend the meetings, on the S^rotto iHmtoag rimttttg of ntrb. tttimtlf.
