REVENUE AND PROFITS For the second quarter, Group revenue of $2,415 million was 25% below that of the corresponding quarter in 2009 due to lower revenue from Offshore & Marine and Infrastructure Divisions. Group net profit of $347 million was 9% above the same quarter in the previous year. Higher profit from Offshore & Marine and Property Divisions were partly offset by lower profit from Infrastructure Division.

For the half year, Group revenue of $4,889 million was 21% below that of the corresponding period in 2009. Revenue from Offshore & Marine Division of $2,923 million was $1,454 million or 33% lower because of the lower volume of work. Revenue from Property Division of $812 million was 48% above the previous year. The increase was mainly due to the sale of Caribbean at Keppel Bay and progressive revenue recognition from Reflections at Keppel Bay. Rental income from investment properties improved because of the acquisition of an investment building in Australia in March 2010 and the additional six strata floors of Prudential Tower acquired in November 2009.

At the pre-tax level, Group profit of $962 million was 11% above that of the corresponding period in 2009. Despite the lower revenue, earnings from Offshore & Marine Division increased by 10% to $575 million. This was driven by higher operating margins achieved during the first half of the year.

Profit from Infrastructure Division decreased by 35% to $51 million as a result of lower contribution from the EPC contracts in Qatar, partly offset by improved performance from the co-generation power plant in Singapore.
