Since then the DC Archives series has gone through a number of changes. After flirting with cancellation with maybe 1 or 2 archives a year, the series has rebounded. The paper stock has been switched to a thinner, glossier type. That in turn has allowed for a larger page count without a big jump in overall thickness. There are a full 15 issues in this volume compared to 9 issues in the first (which included the try out Showcase issues).Metal Men was a *strange* feature. On the surface it reads as if written for 5 year olds. The plots are absurd and puerile. The menaces always are some sort of robot which seem to inhabit every asteroid in the solar system. With story titles like "Birthday Cake for a Cannibal Robot!" you know you're not getting Shakespeare.But at an entirely different level the stories display a lot of charm and humor.
