This research explores the technique of nonlinear storytelling, focusing on what makes a film nonlinear, as well as discussing what benefits nonlinear storytelling provides to the screenwriting process. Through the analysis of three films and one television show that utilize aspects of nonlinear story structure, this study argues that linearity should be thought of as a spectrum rather than something that is categorical. In addition, this work argues that nonlinear story structure makes it easier for films to cover larger spans of time, allows screenwriters to achieve effects that would be impossible in fully linear stories, and helps writers enhance the audience’s emotional connection to scenes through implicit storytelling. This research suggests that by taking advantage of these benefits, screenwriters can create films that lend audiences an emotionally powerful viewing experience. 1 BENEFITS OF NONLINEAR STORYTELLING Benefits of Nonlinear Storytelling In Film and Television Nonlinear storytelling is a narrative technique in which the events of a story are told out of chronological order. It considers the concept of time and how it is represented and altered through writing in fiction literature. Additionally, the role of time and non-linearity is discussed from the perspective of the emotional effects it induces rather than linear, chronological narratives. With the use of qualitative research, international literature, and an original creative writing segment, this theory is analyzed. 3 Introduction Stories, in their most basic interpretation, are created by isolating a sequence of events and presenting them to an audience. How a story is written noticeably impacts the way it will be received by readers since it considers characters, setting, tone, time, and several other aspects to make it whole. While every detail allows a story to raise various interpretations or perceptions, the importance of time is often overlooked compared to other aforementioned qualities which are deemed more important. From this perspective, time is mostly considered a means through which the story is told, but rather, this paper will analyze how the disruption of time in a story is capable of altering how the story is perceived and emphasizing certain aspects. -

While many helpful resources on teaching a particular genre or teaching particular texts within a genre exist, college teachers who have not previously taught science fiction, fantasy, or horror will benefit from a broader pedagogical overview of speculative fiction, and that is what this resource provides. Teachers who have previously taught speculative fiction may also benefit from the selection of alternative texts presented here. This resource includes an argument for the consideration of more speculative fiction in college English classes, whether in composition, literature, or creative writing, as well as overviews of the main theoretical discussions and definitions of each genre. -

IJBCT Volume 6, No. 4 A Literature Review and Analysis of Mode Deactivation Therapy Jack A. Apsche Abstract This article is a review of articles, chapters and current research examining Mode Deactivation Therapy. Current applications of MDT suggest that mindfulness is a core component of MDT, as well as acceptance, defusion and validation, clarification and redirection of the functional alternative beliefs. These components are the core of MDT and a recent study has evaluated each of them as to how it affects the target or outcome goals. The evolution of MDT is reviewed from case studies to a mediation and meta-analysis. The purpose of this article is to review the foundation of MDT and current articles that elucidate the efficaciousness of MDT as an evidenced – based methodology. Keywords: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mode Deactivation Therapy (MDT),Post traumatic Stress Disorder ( PTSD), Mediation analysis, Mindfulness, Meta analysis, Physical aggression, Sexual aggression. Introduction In the process of treatment research trials and development of MDT, this methodology (MDT) has been compared to the alternative methodologies such as: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Social Skills Training. This review examines the literature of MDT in treating adolescent clients with reactive emotional dysregulation, who presented with behaviors including parasuicidal acts, verbal and physical aggression and sexually aberrant behavior. Case studies in this article involved clients with complicated histories of sexual, physical, or emotional abuse, as well as neglect and multi-axial diagnoses. Data indicates that MDT is effective in reducing the rate of physical and sexual aggression in addition to symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. -

Response to Accusations Against Anabaptists Anabaptists are not monolithic. In other words, one cannot say that all Anabaptists believe such and such. Actually the movement is quite diverse, from very liberal Anabaptists who support abortion and homosexuality (like some in the Mennonite Church USA) to very conservative Anabaptists (like the Old Order Amish). Obviously, we cannot group all of the teachings of Anabaptists together and say that all Anabaptists believe such and such. In fact there are many "Anabaptists" who embrace much of what Protestant theology teaches. (By the way, the term Anabaptist literally means "re-baptizers" and it refers to the groups during the time of the Protestant Reformation who rejected their infant baptism and were re- baptized as adults.) For the sake of clarity, when I use the term "Anabaptist," I am using it to refer to those who would describe themselves more as "Kingdom Christians." Martin, David Robertson, Dale Heisey, and Ernest Eby. This is a specific subset of Anabaptism that I identify with and whose views I can fairly well summarize and generalize. Accusation: Anabaptists teach that God changed his mind with respect to things like swearing oaths. Response: Anabaptists would say that the New Covenant is not God changing his mind so much as it is God revealing his ultimate plan for his people. God permitted certain things in former times, which have now been set aside with the perfect revelation of God’s will in Christ. -

INTRODUCTION Remote-sensing is performed by sensors on board a satellite which is usually placed on a low polar orbit so that it may vertically scan the Earth while the Earth is revolving around its axis. Remote-sensing en- ables a very high altitude view of the areas which are covered and since it always follows the same path in a circular movement which is perpendic- ular to the rotation of the Earth, it covers the whole Earth after a few rotations. For example, US Landsat satellites, the initiator in the field, circle the globe fourteen times a day at a 920 km circular and sun-synchronous orbit,1 with a 200 km wide swath.' Their repeat coverage at the Equator is 18 days.3 Resolution of Landsat imagery is 30 m. (i.e. the size of the smallest object which can be identifiable on the basis of picture elements or "pixels"), within a standard image of 185 km by 170 km. -

E. Society RNC Arts, JDB Commerce and NSC Science College, Nashik Road, Tal. & Dist. Nashik, Maharashtra, India. Abstract: The term "Stream-of-Consciousness" signifies to a technique of narration. Prior to the twentieth century. In this technique an author would simply tell the reader what one of the characters was thinking? Stream-of-consciousness is a technique whereby the author writes as though inside the minds of the characters. Since the ordinary person's mind jumps from one event to another, stream-of- consciousness tries to capture this phenomenon in William Faulkner’s novel The Sound and Fury. This style of narration is also associate with the Modern novelist and story writers of the 20th century. The Sound and the Fury is a broadly significant work of literature. William Faulkner use of this technique Sound and Fury is probably the most successful and outstanding use that we have had. Faulkner has been admired for his ability to recreate the thought process of the human mind. In addition, it is viewed as crucial development in the stream-of-consciousness literary technique. According encyclopedia, in 1998, the Modern Library ranked The Sound and the Fury sixth on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century. The present research focuses on stream of consciousness technique used by William Faulkner’s novel “The Sound and Fury”.
