BACKIARANI Received : May, 2011; Accepted : July, 2011 SUMMARY Fresh water ponds, pools and springs were studied with an objective to isolate and identify algal flora present in it. 11 genera of Chlorophyceae, 1 genus of Clostridiaceae, 1 genus of Trebouxiophyceae , 1 genus of Ulvophyceae, 17 genera of Zygnematophyceae, 9 genera of Bacillariophyceae, 5 genera of Cyanophyceae. Physicochemical parameters such as temperature in Celsius (26), EC µmohs/cm (1330), pH (7.9), Alkalinity mg/l (10.2), total hardeness mg/l (12.4),COD mg/l (0.03), BOD mg/l (0.06), iron mg/l (0.06), nitrite mg/l (0.10), nitrate mg/l (0.08), chloride mg/l (12.2), fluoride mg/l (0.95), sulphate mg/l (0.44), phosphate mg/l (0.12) and ammonia mg/l (0.11). CONTACT Kerala -678702 DATES FREQUENCY DURATION TIME October (Kanni) Annual 7 days ABOUT THE FESTIVAL (Legend/History/Myth) Kuzhalmannam Agraharam, a Kerala Iyer Tamil Brahmin gramam is one among agraharam s (gramams) of Palakkad district. The residents of this agraharam are mainly Tamil Brahmins, commonly called as Kerala Iyers who migrated from Tamilnadu more than 300 years ago. Situated in the heart of the agraharam, this ancient temple is considered as the jewel for its beautiful workmanship. The entrance to the temple is through a Mukha Mantapam. The carving of GajaLakshmi, the pillars and various scroll work on the ceiling give an elegant look. The main Prathishta is Lord Narayana along with Lakshmi, the goddess of plenty and prosperity. Here Lakshmi is sitting on Lord Narayana's left thigh. Lakshmi Narayana Swami the presiding deity of the agraharam has been showering on his devotees with beautiful blessings. He is reputed for the blessings for Santhanabhagyam. The floors of the Namaskara Mantapam are built in white marble. The temple SreeKovil wears a decorated look with Granite flooring. The front side of the SreeKovil, Sopanam and Sreekovil doors is covered with beautifully designed brass sheets. Sreekovil doors are covered with Ashtalakshmi figures. In April 2004, the temples of this agraharam were renovated and a Kumbhabhishekam was conducted in a grand way.

Abstract:-- Marthanda Varma the founder of modern Travancore. He was born in 1705. Anizham Tirunal Marthanda Varma rule of Travancore in 1929. Marthanda Varma headquarters in Kalkulam.     City Corporate cum Business Plan for Sengottai Final Report Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu - 1 - 1 PROJECT OVERVIEW 1.1 ASSIGNMENT BACKGROUND The World Bank has been a partner in urban reform program of Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN) with engagement through Tamil Nadu Urban Development Project (TNUDP) - TNUDP-I, TNUDP-II and TNUDP-III (in progress). Towards taking forward the urban reform agenda, the GoTN is now implementing the TNUDP-III with focus on furthering the reforms initiated under TNUDP-II. The Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited (TNUIFSL), as a financial intermediary, intends to assist the Commissioner of Municipal Administration (CMA) in strengthening and improving the financial position of its Municipalities for effective capital investment management and urban service delivery. These towns possess a good potential for implementation of such financial reforms for which it is essential to formulate a City Corporate Cum Business Plan. The CMA has started the process of capacity building in Municipalities through this process to enhance the vision of the ULBs in growth of their towns. The TNUIFSL has appointed M/s. Community Consulting India Private Limited (CCI) to prepare City Corporate Cum Business Plan (CCBP) for Sengottai Municipality. 1.1.1 CITY CORPORATE PLAN A City Corporate Plan (CCP) is the ULB’s corporate strategy that presents both a vision of a desired future perspective for the city and the ULB’s organization, and mission statements on how the ULB, together with other stakeholders, intends to work towards achieving their long- term vision in the next ten years. A CCP translates mission into actions and actions into outcomes.
