Currently, the Group’s business covers more than 20 major provinces and cities and the surrounding areas in China, and has established a national network of vertically integrated local waste systems in New Zealand. The Group is committed to developing into a technology-driven and investment-driven large-scale environmental protection enterprise, adhering to the spirit of craftsmanship and focusing on the waste-to-energy project, urban-rural sanitation integration projects, organic waste anaerobic projects and other technological research and development and technical collaboration. The Group is actively pursuing the “Ecology+” strategy, making technological innovation an important driving force in the corporate development, striving to enhance the innovation capabilities, leading efficient, green and smart development, and striving to become a leading integrated eco-environmental service provider in the area of solid waste in China. About this Report The Group is pleased to publish the fourth Sustainability Report (the “Report”) to present the Group’s latest policies, initiatives and performance in detail in sustainability and to address stakeholders’ concerns about the Group’s sustainability development. Available in both Chinese and English, the Report has been uploaded to the websites of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (“SEHK”) and the Company www.cehl.com.hk. Yutian County Integrated Waste Project Ma’anshan Dismantling Plant REPORTING BOUNDARY The Report covers the Group’s sustainability development performance between January 2020 and December 2020 (the “Year”). The boundary of the Report mainly covers 27 projects (referred to hereafter as the “Reporting Projects”) that were in full operation during the Year, including waste-to-energy, landfill, waste storage, waste cleaning and waste appliances dismantling, etc. Taking into consideration the access and ownership of data, the Report has not yet covered the joint ventures of which the Group holds non-controlling interests and overseas projects (in New Zealand). The projects that have been included in investment reserve but not yet in full operations are also excluded2. In the future, the Group will continuously improve the internal data collection system to further expand the scope of disclosure if possible. Laws and Regulations related to Land Lease in the People’s Republic of China 1. In the People’s Republic of China (PRC), there are several laws stipulate the rural land system, which include the Constitution, the Property Rights Law (2007), the Land Administration Law (2004), the Law on Land Contract in Rural Area (2002), the Law on the Mediation and Arbitration of Rural Land Contract Disputes (2009), and the Contract Law (1999); as well as some administrative regulations related to rural land system are under effective, such as Regulation on the implementation of the Land Administration Law, Regulation on the protection of basic farmland. Furthermore, some ministerial regulations are also enforcing to stipulate the rural land, e.g., measures for the administration of the certificated of the right to contractual management of rural land; measures for the administration of the transfer of the land to contractual management of rural land, as well as the judicial interpretation of applicable law issues on rural land contract by the Supreme People’s Court. 2. Land ownership and nature of land use should not be changed after land is leased, and the interests of collectives and farmers should not be infringed upon. International Federation Appeal history: • Launched on 30 July 2007 for CHF 9,462,000 for 12 months to assist 400,000 beneficiaries. • Disaster Relief Emergency Funds (DREF): CHF 240,000 (USD 199,465 or EUR 146,468) was initially allocated from the Federation’s DREF to support the national society to respond. Summary: In late May 2007, torrential rains and swelling rivers devastated more than 980 countries in 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities of China, affecting an estimated 200 million people and resulting in more than 1,000 deaths. In the areas where the International Federation supported the flood operations, at least 243,000 houses were reported totally collapsed in five provinces: Henan, Hubei, Anhui, Sichuan and Chongqing municipality. It was reported to be the worst flooding seen in more than 50-80 years for some hard hit areas of the country. The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) was able to respond rapidly and effectively to the needs of thousands of people affected by the floods.

In 2014, with China’s economic transformation upgraded, the reform of business registration system has constantly increased the creativity and vitality of the market participants. The trademark application grew quickly and passed 2 million for the first time, reaching 2,285 millions, with a year-on-year growth of 21.5%, hitting a new record in the history and keeping the highest amount of the world for consecutive 13 years. The Trademark Office and Trademark Review and Adjudication Board of SAIC faced and overcame the difficulties, such as the application growing quickly, the running of Phase III system and the limited period of trademark examination and review, took emergency measures to improve the examination efficiency and complete the task of trademark examination by overtime working. The office examined 2.426 million trademark applications, which was over 2 million for the first time, an increase of 70.3%; the average examining period was kept in 9 months by the law.

Ltd. ('Muyuan" or the "Guarantor" or the "Group"), is a large-scale, integrated, farrow- to-finish intensive pig breeder and hog producer headquartered in Neixiang County, Henan Province, China. Muyuan is an existing IFC investee. IFC has an equity investment in Muyuan (committed in 2010, project #29089) and has processed two loans, (in 2012, #32156 and 2014, #33505). Muyuan is publically listed in the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since January 2014.Besides its core operations in Neixiang County, Muyuan operates 16 wholly owned subsidiaries scattered in Henan, Shandong, Hubei and Shanxi Provinces. Among them, Dengzhou county (Dengzhou Muyuan), Wolong county (Wolong Muyuan, an IFC loan borrower), Caoxian county (Caoxian Muyuan) and Zhongxiang county (Zhongxiang Muyuan, another IFC loan borrower) are operational close to full capacity, while the rest are either newly-built or at an early stage of operations. The group also has a 40% stake in a slaughter house joint venture with Longda Muyuan Slaughter House (Longda Muyuan) in which the majority partner is Shandong Longda Group Limited, one of the top 10 pork processors and marketers in China.Considering the group's core and subsidiary operations, Muyuan has more than 100 farms, boar stations and breeder farms.
