Professor Iulian Velea MD,PhD Prof. Univ. Dr. Iulian Velea President of ENDOPED Presedinte ENDOPED 4 About ENDOPED Motto: “Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.” (John Fitzgerald Kennedy) In March 2012 the Ministry of Health approved ten pediatric “Subspecialties” comparable to those currently present in the European Union as well as those in North and South America. Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes can be found among these subspecialties. Why are these pediatric subspecialties are necessary? The European Pediatric Academy (EPA), a subdivision of the European Union Medical Specialists (EUMS) aims to harmonize pediatric training across Europe. In today’s era of global travel and communication there is a desire to harmonize the pediatric endocrinology system in all member countries of the European Union. For this reason, in 2014 the ESPE revised the program that had been approved by the General Assembly of the EPA and strongly recommended that Pediatric Endocrinology be recognized as a subspecialty of Pediatrics, even in the countries in which the approval process remains under review. In this context, the recognition of pediatric endocrinology as a subspecialty in all European countries is of great importance and will ensure that all children with endocrinology problems will be in the care of pediatric endocrinologists trained in a standardized program that is similarly structured in all European countries. What does ENDOPED propose? The Romanian Society of Diabetes, Nutrition and Pediatric Endocrinology (ENDOPED) proposes the organization of scientific events through which the newest diagnostic methods and treatment options are discussed and promoted thus creating a framework for informing and educating pediatricians specializing in these pathologies. ENDOPED also proposes the organization programs for the general population educating them about early disease detection and diagnosis as well as principles of healthy, balances nutrition beginning from birth. It is important to remember that: ”It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” ONLINE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF PHILOSOPHY WITH PEER REVIEW PHILOSOPHY AND COMMUNICATION WWW.METABASIS.IT november 2010 year V N. 10 TIMIŞOARA (15–20 DECEMBER 1989) AND BUCHAREST (21–22 DECEMBER 1989) by Ruxandra Cesereanu Babeş-Bolyai University Cluj Romania In 1989 Romania was, as Radio Free Europe called it, a “powder keg,” and a revolt seemed quite likely, given both the internal situation (with the country under one of the harshest neo-Stalinist dictatorships in the whole communist bloc) and the considerable political changes affecting Eastern Europe, which exerted a more or less direct influence upon political events in the country. The story about the beginning of the revolt in Timişoara has been told by many of its protagonists, and therefore I shall present here only a brief outline of its main events. Basically, it all started with the protest of Reformed pastor Lászlo Tökes and of his congregation against the orders issued by the Reformed Church (controlled, of course, by the Romanian communists), according to which he had to leave the village of Mineu for having criticized Ceauşcu’s regime, especially in what concerned the planned restructuring (demolition) of villages, which would have most likely caused a loss of identity among the Hungarian minority. Some Timişoara authors have indicated that typewritten manifestos began circulating in Timişoara as early as 11 December 1989, featuring slogans like “End Ceauşescu’s tyranny!,” “Down with the dictatorship!,” “Death to the dictator!” Still, these manifestos were not necessarily related to the protest of the Reformed minister and had not been smuggled in by Hungarian, Russian, or other foreign agents.

  • History the Banat Region As Reflected in the Mirror Of
HISTORY THE BANAT REGION AS REFLECTED IN THE MIRROR OF THE CHANGING ECCLESIASTIC NETWORK Beatrix Romhányi Abstract. The research of the Banat region known in the history of medieval Hungary as Temesköz is difficult because its medieval charters, settlement network and architectural memories have largely disappeared, and post-Ottoman settlements have covered the previous layers not only physically, but in terms of historical memory as well. In addition, the storms of the twentieth century did not favour the research of this region. Some of the medieval and modern events in the region’s history also suggest that some of its parts have been difficult to populate at times. The present paper aims at contributing to detect the development of the region by examining a relatively well-known data group, the network of the church institutions. Based on the analysis of the monastic and parish networks, the inhabited areas of the Banat changed several times during the Middle Ages. Only the coastal strip of the Mureş/Maros, parts of the transport corridor between Arad and Haram and the narrower area of the Tisza and Danube were inhabited permanently. The western part of the region had a much weaker population than the east, and the southwestern part between the Tisza and Deliblato Sands was almost uninhabited. Based on the evolution of the monastic network, the sustaining capacity of the area reached its peak twice during the Middle Ages: first just before the Mongol invasion and secondly around 1400. Compared to the monastic network of other regions of the country, the number of monasteries was clearly lower than the national average.

  • Between the Danube and the Deep Blue Sea: Zooarchaeological Meta
Orton, D et al 2016 Between the Danube and the Deep Blue Sea: Zooarchaeological Meta- Analysis Reveals Variability in the Spread and Development of Neolithic Farming across the Western Balkans. Open Quaternary, 2: 6, pp. 1–26, DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5334/oq.28 RESEARCH PAPER Between the Danube and the Deep Blue Sea: Zooarchaeological Meta-Analysis Reveals Variability in the Spread and Development of Neolithic Farming across the Western Balkans David Orton*, Jane Gaastra† and Marc Vander Linden† The first spread of farming practices into Europe in the Neolithic period involves two distinct ‘streams’, respectively around the Mediterranean littoral and along the Danube corridor to central Europe. In this paper we explore variation in Neolithic animal use practices within and between these streams, focusing on the first region in which they are clearly distinct (and yet still in close proximity): the western Balkans. We employ rigorous and reproducible meta-analysis of all available zooarchaeological data from the region to test hypotheses (a) that each stream featured a coherent ‘package’ of herding and hunting practices in the earliest Neolithic, and (b) that these subsequently diverged in response to local conditions and changing cultural preferences. The results partially uphold these hypotheses, while underlining that Neolithisation was a complex and varied process. A coherent, stable, caprine-based ‘package’ is seen in the coastal stream, albeit with some diversification linked to expansion northwards and inland. Accounting for a severe, systematic bias in bone recovery methodology between streams, we show that sheep and goats also played a major role across the continental stream in the earliest Neolithic (c.6100–5800 BC).

The Free Dacian settlement of Arad (Site B_06). IV-V p. Chr.). Abstract: The object of this article is to preliminary present the rescue archaeological excavations prior to the construction of the Arad-Timişoara Highway, conducted in 2010 on-site B_06.
