Warner Parks Hummingbird Happy Hour was a fundraising Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness evening of art and jazz at Warner Park Nature Center. Bacon & Caviar provided a delicious cocktail buffet offering The Saint Paul mini tomato and cheese skewers, prosciutto wrapped melon, barbe- cue on rolls, and much more. A concert in the courtyard featured Annie Sellick and Pat Bergeson. Beautiful artwork by Lexie Armstrong was on display and available for purchase to add to the parks’ coffers. The event benefited Warner Parks Bird Information Research and Data (B.I.R.D.) Program. The Nature Center is one of a few places in the country where observers can watch bird banding in action. Bird research has been ongoing in Warner Parks since natural- ist Amelia Laskey began her bluebird nesting box program in 1936. Today, park staff and dedicated volunteers conduct 15 year-round bird research projects, extensive banding and bird counts, and take part in Project FeederWatch, a survey of winter bird populations across North America conducted by the Cornell Lab of Hummingbird: Heather and Ornithology and Bird Studies Canada. Randy Fagin. For more information, visit www.warnerparks.org.
