Hellbender on the River Event

photos by • David Hodgson

The Hellbender on the River event was held on the East Bank Landing to benefit the Cumberland River Compact, whose mission is to help enhance the health and enjoyment of the Cumberland River and its tributaries through education, collaboration and action. A hellbender is a species of giant aquatic salamander. They grow up to two feet in length and are native to the eastern United States. At one point there were as few as 600 left in the wild. Today, scientists from the region are keeping an eye on popula- tions and in protected areas the hellbender populations are stabi- lizing. The next step is to work on streams that are not in protect- ed areas. The work of the Compact helps to clean up these streams and hopefully someday soon we will see hellbenders thriving again. Acme Radio provided music and everyone enjoyed a signature Hellbender cocktail, a variety of local beers and Hattie B's Hot Chicken and sides. (M) 615-593-9854 737 Georgetown Drive UNDER $561,000 [email protected] CONTRACT Jodie-Barringer.com 37205 Hillwood Five years ago, Jessica told me that Steve Bandstra was the most hand- some man she had ever met, was the smartest man she had ever met, and could build the Taj Mahal in better proportion than its first architect. You see, Steve Bandstra was perfect. And, Jessica was simply brilliant to be able to see it hidden behind his pilot's uniform. Lost in Love, Jessica and Steve set out to find their first home, a home that they envisioned as a team effort of good taste and good hard work. When The Bandstras first saw 737 Georgetown, the wheels started turning. 737 was a 1955 True Mid Century Ranch which had gone unloved for a period of time. Bid on by eight other 615-297-8543 Buyers, the Bandstras won the opportunity to bring this 1 acre plot of land back to its glory days while simultaneously renovating the entire body of the house. While the integrity of the house remains pure, the ceilings were raised, a new larger, chef friendly kitchen was added, the electrical and UNDER CONTRACT plumbing was updated, the floors were replaced, a new bath was added, a new, larger deck was added, and , then, they brought in some chickens, 415 Belle Pointe Drive just for fun. Well, that is just the way the Bandstras are: creative, fun, a lit- 37221 tle daring, and solid as a rock. Come see your new house. You can move Representing the Buyer in in August.
