Bus Driver Fatigue and Stress Issues Study Final Report November 18, 1999 I INTRODUCTION Arrowhead Space and Telecommunications, Inc. conducted a research project to identify unique aspects of operations within the motorcoach industry which may produce bus driver fatigue and stress. Funding for and oversight of the study was provided by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Office of Motor Carriers (OMC). The purpose of this study is to (1) identify from direct interaction with motorcoach owners, safety directors, operations managers, and drivers those fatigue-inducing stresses which they believe are unique to the motorcoach industry; (2) evaluate the relative influence of these stresses on bus driver fatigue; (3) provide relevant feedback to the FHWA/OMC for its use in future decisions which will affect the motorcoach industry; and (4) develop an outreach video to help motorcoach drivers understand the effects of fatigue, the stresses that induce it, and means to reduce it.

    Early Scoping Summary Report April 2018 West Seattle and Ballard Link Extensions Summary Purpose Sound Transit conducted early scoping for the West Seattle and Ballard Link Extensions (WSBLE) Project in Seattle, Washington, from February 2 through March 5, 2018. The early scoping started the public planning and environmental processes for the project. This report describes how Sound Transit conducted early scoping and summarizes the comments received from local and regulatory agencies, tribes, and the public during the early scoping period. This information will be considered by Sound Transit as it identifies and studies alternatives for the WSBLE Project. The Early Scoping Process Sound Transit published an early scoping notice in the Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) register on February 2, 2018, which initiated early scoping and started the 30-day comment period. Additional public notification was provided with mailed postcards, print and online advertisements, and social media notices. Three public open houses and an agency meeting were held during this comment period, as well as an online open house from February 12 to March 5, 2018. Sound Transit requested comments on the purpose and need, the Representative Project, other potential alternatives, and potential community benefits and impacts. Comments were accepted by mail, email, online comment forms, and on comment boards and maps at the open houses (both in person and online). It’s always my pleasure because I was lucky enough to grow up in this very house — before it became a museum — and so I have this affinity for this house, this place, this land, and all that we do. And the fact that we have community partners is so terrific. So to have Ye Olde Curiosity Shop as a partner and having this exhibit is just so terrific. Thank you all for coming, and I hope you enjoy our panel. I’m sure we will. Clay Eals OK, I get to have some fun here because I used to be a journalist. If I were to have a gravestone it would say, “Journalist.” And so what we are going to do today, instead of making people make speeches, is I am going to ask some questions. I want to introduce you to the people whom you are going to hear from today. We have three generations of Jameses here today, and their family members. We have Joe James, who is the grandfather – grandfather? You are, but you’re also the grandson of J.E. (Joseph) “Daddy” Standley, who founded the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop in 1899, but I also hear that it may have been 1901. Maybe we will clear this up today. We have Joe’s son Andy, and he, you’re hands-on proprietor now.
