They were Samuel H. Miller, Edward A. Lozick and Thomas D. Ganley. They agreed to serve on the Board of Advisors and it was their vision, desire and determination, and the leadership of Chief McGrath that gave birth to the Cleveland Police Foundation (foundation) in 2010. Serving on the initial Board of Directors is Thomas K. Stone, President; James M. Craciun, Secretary; and Woods King III, Treasurer; John O. Anoliefo, Beverly R. Charles, Brent Clapacs, Franklin B. Floyd Jr., Deborah Smythe Hermann, David M. Reynolds, Ben S. Stefanski II, Senator Nina Turner and David Young. In addition to Messrs. Ganley, Lozick and Miller, the Board of Advisors includes Chief Michael McGrath and Edward P. Kovacic, CPD Chief (Retired). Lieutenant Daniel Fay serves as the Division’s liaison to the boards. Early this year, the Board of Directors of the foundation took its first formal step in going operational by selecting Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society President and retired Cleveland Police Sergeant Charles W. Lane, Jr. as its first Executive Director. The spirit and drive of all involved bodes well for a bright future and we look forward to the promise it holds in playing a role in making our community safer. Cleveland Police Foundation… Investing in a Safe Community The foundation is an alliance of business and civic leaders and law enforcement organizations committed to the idea that a well-trained police department along with the support of its citizens leads to a safer community. Its mission is to strengthen the bonds between the Cleveland Division of Police and the community it serves through outreach programs, support of police charities, and investment in education and training.
