Developing a love and understanding for music Music is something to be fostered in all young children. It has been proven to contribute not only to their musical development, but to other important areas of intellectual, emotional and social learning and development. For example, involvement in music programmes and experiences has been demonstrated to facilitate the development of literacy skills in young children, as well as increase their vocabulary and aural language skills. Children under the age of two are capable of engaging in vocal play, experimenting with sound (including manipulating simple musical instruments), and by 24 months are more than capable of singing short songs and improvising with known songs and even creating their own The art gallery at Murrurundi strives to showcase the best in songs. contemporary Australian and Aboriginal art. 4 - The Entertainer - Thursday 4th December, 2014 www.facebook.com/EntertainerPublication creative arts Millsy is back! The Royal Hotel in Muswellbrook has had some brilliant artists pass through its doors. No matter what the status of the act, the Royal always choose well-rounded, versatile, professional and (above all else) talented artists with a knack for adapting to the crowd they’re entertaining. Graeme Mills (aka Millsy) is definitely no exception. His talent and versatility, coupled with his professionalism, makes him a fantastic choice for any function. But also an act not to be missed!

Millsy had played with various cover bands from 2002-2010. In that time, he developed a large repertoire of songs from an eclectic range of genres. Since 2010, he has flown solo and is still adding titles to that list. Suiting any and all genres from acoustic ballads to hard rock, he can tailor his performance to the flavour of the audience. He has an energy that he filters through his playing, it really can’t be ignored. Along with his vocal skills, Millsy can pluck his way around acoustic and bass guitar, as well as thumping out a beat on the drums. Truly a well-rounded and talented musician. Millsy will be appearing live at the Royal Hotel in Muswellbrook this Friday 5th December at 8pm. Admission is free. No doubt he will set the perfect atmosphere for all wanting the perfect night out. Fantastic food from Willows Restaurant, beverages from the bar culminating with Millsy’s perfectly chosen tunes: a beautiful recipe for a relaxing yet fun night out. Be sure to catch Graeme Mills at the Royal Hotel this Friday night! Image: Graeme Mills. The Australian National Yurt Project features at Summer Art Bazaar Have Yurt – will travel! Martien Van Zullen’s Australian National Yurt Project, will be at the Summer Art Bazaar this Saturday 6 December at Civic Park in Newcastle. In 1997, international felt artist Martien van Zuilen made a wish - to travel to Mongolia to learn first-hand about the origins of hand-made felt, the oldest textile known to humankind. Back in Australia she founded the National Yurt Project: a community arts project aimed to build a full-scale Mongolian Yurt with the help of many feltmakers, including from the wider Newcastle region. Since its completion the Yurt Project has traversed the vast and varied Australian continent and visited countless communities in every state. The Yurt will be on display at the Newcastle Summer Art Bazaar, Saturday 6th December 2014 – a day and night full of art, food, music and lights. Come and visit the Yurt at the ART BAZAAR.
