Procol Harum Live in Italia Per Tre Imperdibili Concerti in Occasione Dei 50 Anni Di Carriera
MCA-700 Midline/Reissue Series
MCA 700 Discography by David Edwards, Mike Callahan & Patrice Eyries © 2018 by Mike Callahan MCA-700 Midline/Reissue Series: By the time the reissue series reached MCA-700, most of the ABC reissues had been accomplished in the MCA 500-600s. MCA decided that when full price albums were converted to midline prices, the albums needed a new number altogether rather than just making the administrative change. In this series, we get reissues of many MCA albums that were only one to three years old, as well as a lot of Decca reissues. Rather than pay the price for new covers and labels, most of these were just stamped with the new numbers in gold ink on the front covers, with the same jackets and labels with the old catalog numbers. MCA 700 - We All Have a Star - Wilton Felder [1981] Reissue of ABC AA 1009. We All Have A Star/I Know Who I Am/Why Believe/The Cycles Of Time//Let's Dance Together/My Name Is Love/You And Me And Ecstasy/Ride On MCA 701 - Original Voice Tracks from His Greatest Movies - W.C. Interview Guy Manning
Interview Guy Manning British multi-instrumentalist Guy Manning: “I like my albums to be more than just songs” (December 2011, text by Henri Strik, edited by Peter Willemsen, pictures provided by Guy Manning) For several years Guy Manning asked me if I would do an interview with him. After every new album I said I would love to talk to him, but there was always something that prevented me from doing so. With the release of his twelfth studio album Margaret's Children (see Manning Web site Press page) I finally managed to do what I had promised to do for such a long time. Guy certainly deserves this attention, because he certainly is one of the most underrated musicians in the progressive rock community. So finally here it is: the Guy Manning interview for Background Magazine! Can you tell me please why you made a sequel to the Anser's Tree album? What's the story behind Margaret's Children? Guy Manning: “Okay, let me start with the story first! There really is no linear narrative storyline concept in either album, that is, no storyline like in The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, Snow or Tommy, but there is the container concept which is a concept that binds the songs together under one umbrella idea, like a single family or a house. The idea behind both albums is that this is one family and the songs are the stories about the characters in it. From the earliest Margaret Montgomery set around 1600 in Scotland right through to Dr. Jonathan Anser in the near future. -
Doo-Wah Riders
DOO-WAH RIDERS KENNY LEE BENSON— VOCALS, ACCORDIAN, KEYBOARD, & HARMONICA When I was in my early 20s I decided to quit playing coun- try music in the beer and honky tonks of New Mexico and study music "seriously." I left Albuquerque and moved to Boston to go to music school. After two semesters I ran out of money and did what came natural... playing country music in beer joints and honky tonks. This time in the Northeast. In spite of playing with some won- derful people and players (including the legendary Sleepy La- Beef), I came to the realization that no matter where I was, I was always playing the "the worst place in town" and decided to get the hell out of Dodge. Torn between moving to Nashville and Los Angeles (I had an "ex" in Texas), I let my record collection decide for me. Emmy- lou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Brian Ahern, Byron Berline, Albert Lee and Chris Hillman were all in California and making the kind of records I wanted to make, so I packed up and moved there. Once again, I went to school and studied arranging and orchestration with Dick Grove in Studio City, California (my cur- rent home). One night after playing music at a friend's house, the guitar player and I stood in the parking lot and talked about country music until the wee hours of the morning. We found that we had a mutual passion for Bob Wills, Asleep at the Wheel, Guy Clark and, of course, Emmylou Harris; we decided that we should put a band together just for "laughs." Little did I know that the band would become a major part of my life and that I'd still be working with Lindy Rasmusson 30 years later! . -
