This initiative, compiled by I.C.E. in co-operation with A.I.E., the Italian Publishers Association, was started in 1999 and aims to encourage the exchange of information between the Italian publishing trade and the publishing trade world-wide, and to provide a showcase for the most recently published Italian titles. This enterprise forms part of a wider project which I.C.E. and A.I.E. are undertaking to promote greater awareness of Italian publishing on international markets and closer working relationships between Italian and foreign companies. This catalogue is also available as a CD-ROM and can be accessed on the Internet at the following address: http://www.italien-on-line.de/buchmesse-2000 A.I.E. and I.C.E. are attending the Frankfurt Book Fair and will be at Hall 9.1 Stand E 921 to provide information on the publishing industry in Italy, as well as to assist Italian and foreign companies who are interested in programmes promoting the industry. 7 General Information What is I.C.E. ? I.C.E. (Italian Institute for Foreign Trade) was established in 1926 to assist the Ministry of Foreign Trade in technical matters. Today, it is the government agency that promotes the internationalisation of Italian companies, in particular SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), and boasts a network of offices worldwide. I.C.E. promotes trade, industrial and technical co-operation and provides economic information on Italy. Furthermore, I.C.E. gathers market data at an international level in order to keep Italian companies abreast of business opportunities abroad, and to assist them in their search for foreign partners. Foreign companies frequently turn to the I.C.E. offices in order to source and analyse potential Italian suppliers and partners suited to their specific requirements. The Headquarters located in Rome is managed by the following departments: Information, Training, Promotion and Co-operation. Enhanced use of Information Technology and of the Internet facilitates the constant exchange of information and feedback from its world-wide network. This enables I.C.E. to swiftly respond to on- going challenges affecting international markets, to raise awareness regarding potential business opportunities and available support, and to keep target markets under constant review.     FINLAND AND THE ÅLAND ISLANDS Monday 21 July Today we crossed from Tallinn, Estonia to Helsinki, Finland by ferry. The first thing to do was a major and quite expensive stock-up shop at the supermarket over the road, in anticipation of more expensive times to come in Scandinavia. Then along to check in early with the Finnish Eckero Line, and after a wait of an hour or so we were among the last to be loaded, along with many other motorhomes and heavy trucks. Big ship, with many similarities to those used for Channel crossings. The only problem was to get away from the live music in the public areas, much enjoyed by most passengers. Also popular was lying out in the sun on and around the small covered pool in what was a beautiful blue day – windy, though. We finally found a relatively quiet spot to read and use the internet before going on deck again to watch the ship’s spectacular entry to and through the Helsinki archipelago. You can never watch the final docking because of the need to get down to the cars and vans, so the first we saw of Finland was through the open rear of the vessel. We had the Tomtom all set to guide us to the camp site, but even so it is a stressful business being dumped in a busy part of a busy city like Helsinki without much idea of where you are or how you get to where you want to go. The camp site, in the suburb of Rastila, is about 10 km north-east of the city.

O Candidato [assinatura] Lisboa, 27.10.19 RESUMO O trabalho é sobre uma imersão no oceano e em nós mesmos. A questão é: como podemos obter um efeito positivo por meio do oceano? O primeiro capítulo analisará os pensamentos antigos e contemporâneos do sublime; A figura do vórtice foi usada nas artes e na literatura para criar sensações sublimes, Immanuel Kant e Edmund Burke afirmaram que o sublime pode trazer um efeito positivo que será discutido. Uma sensação sublime diferente é a Liminalidade, que encontrei durante a Apnéia. Muitos artistas descrevem seu poder transformador, que será comparado à pesquisa médica científica. Mas a mensagem fundamental permanece: “A experiência sublime é fundamentalmente transformadora, sobre a relação entre desordem e ordem, e a ruptura das coordenadas estáveis de tempo e espaço. Algo se precipita e somos profundamente alterados.” (Morley, 2010, p.12) O segundo capítulo define Ambientes Imersivos em Artes e Apnéia. Após a experiência liminar comecei a treinar o desporto e aprendi a controlar minha mente e corpo de forma imersiva, o que trouxe à tona os conceitos: ponto do silêncio (preparação), jogo mental (submersão) e foco (volta a superfície).

    ONE MONTH WITH THE BLESSED MARTYRS OF LAOS Authentic Texts for Meditation and Prayer Selected by Roland Jacques OMI Translated by James Allen OMI Jaffna, Sri Lanka, September 2016 Our Newly Beatified: The Martyrs of Laos Laos presents to Christianity its “Witnesses of the Faith in the 20th century,” 17 men who died as martyrs between 1954 and 1970: a young Laotian priest, 5 priests of the Foreign Missions of Paris, 6 Oblates of Mary Immaculate – an Italian and 5 French, 5 Laotian laymen. Having been beatified in Vientiane on 11 December 2016, they will be celebrated in 2017: at Notre Dame of Paris on 5 February; in Trent (Italy) on 30 April; and at Belleville (Our Lady of the Snows Shrine, United States) on 17-18 June. As in times past at Rome or Lyon, the Church was born in Laos from the blood of mar- tyrs. In 2000, St. John Paul II called on Christians to honor the Witnesses of Faith in the 20th century. Responding to this call, Laos presented to the judgment of Rome 17 men, Laotians and European missionaries. The story of their life and their death takes us into the turmoil of World History which, after the Second World War, saw nations of East and Southeast Asia fall into the hands of atheistic communism. These men heroically remained at their posts, faithful to the end to Jesus Christ, to Roman directives and to the ordinary people of God entrusted to their care. Between 1954 and 1970, they were killed “out of hatred for the faith.” Joseph Tiên, the first martyr, had been a priest for 4 years.

He was canonized in 1767 and is the patron saint of orphans. Biography Jerome was born in Venice, the son of Angelo Emiliani (popularly called Miani) and Eleonore Mauroceni. His father died when he was a teenager and ran away at the age of 15 to join the army. In 1508, he participated in the defense of Castelnuovo against the League of Cambray. He was appointed governor of a fortress in the mountains of Treviso, and while defending his post taken was made prisoner. His escape he attributed to the intercession of the Mother of God; and he made a pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady of Treviso, in fulfillment of a vow, and left his chains as an offering.[1] He was then appointed podestà (Venetian magistrate) of Castelnuovo, but after a short time returned to Venice to supervise the education of his nephews. All his spare time was devoted to the study of theology and to works of charity. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1518. In the year of plague and famine (1528), he seemed to be everywhere and showed his zeal, especially for the orphans, whose number had so greatly increased.

Barro Jorge Mario Bergoglio, since becoming Pope Francis in March 2013, is focusing on martyrdom in the Roman Catholic Church. Two months into his pontificate, Francis canonized the 813 martyrs of Otranto, the largest such group in recorded Catholic Church history. Five months later, Francis beatified another large group, 499 martyrs of the Spanish Civil War. Francis continues to emphasize martyrs over confessors, the name given to blessed persons who died of natural causes. In 2019, Francis beatified 39 martyrs and only 6 confessors. As a snapshot of what is happening, within the last four years, 14 persons who died in Guatemala have qualified as blessed martyrs; six were foreign missionaries who served in Guatemala and eight were national lay persons, including one child.1 The missionaries were Oklahoma priest Stanley Rother, the first U.S. born martyr beatified by the Catholic Church, three Missionaries of the Sacred Heart priests, a priest of the Order of Friars Minor, and James Miller, of the De La Salle Brothers of the Christian Schools and the last Vatican beatification for 2019.
