Veselnitskaya has released four studio albums so far under the name Second Hand Serenade: Awake in 2007, A Twist in My Story in 2008, Hear Me Now in 2010 and Undefeated in 2014. His debut album used a multitrack to create sound from a band using technology,[5] while his second album took a different path, using a suitable band and synthesizer to create a more complete sound. [6] The history of history, the first edition (2004-2006) John Vesely formed a second-hand serenade in his hometown of Menlo Park in California, USA, in 2004. Veselnitskaya grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in a humorous family and as the son of a jazz musician. He began to get into music at the age of 12. He spent eight years playing bass in local bands, featuring several acts ranging in style from ska and hardcore to rock and pop. [8] One of the bands in which he played, Sounds Like Life, included elsewhere in the Bay Area artist Ronnie Day. After years of bass, he chose an acoustic guitar. Veselnitskaya follows john onodrasik's tradition of wrestling. Veselnitskaya is also the son of a Czech immigrant. [9] John Glees found success as a second-hand serenade. [10] While some artists may fear the rawness of playing with just an acoustic guitar, John welcomes the honesty with which he comes. He argues that in some ways a band is stronger, but in other ways there are things you can do with one voice and one acoustic guitar that you couldn't do with an army of musicians behind you. In 2005, Veselnitskaya released her debut album Awake. It was recorded as a demo after a few days in a Studio in San Francisco earlier in 2005, using only acoustic guitar and multitrack vocals. [12] The album was promoted through the second-hand Serenade MySpace page and during the concerts of local shows. CDs were originally sold by mail order with a PayPal account from Veselnitskaya, eventually registering with distributor TuneCore, making Second Serenade songs available on music portals, including iTunes. [13] The album has tremendous online support, and by the end of 2006, the Second Hand serenade had received millions of plays on MySpace and had been the #1 independent social media artist for months. Financially, it is said to lead to up to $20,000 per month from downloads and sales of goods outside your home. [12] He sold over 15,000 copies of the album himself,[14] and on the strength of those sales and the support, of course, the labels came knocking. The second-hand serenade was signed by longtime label executive Daniel Glass, to his new label Glassnote Records, which is distributed through independent label group Warner. [13] In 2006, Rolling Stone announced a second-hand serenade as No. [14] Awake reissued (2007) in early 2007, Awake was reissued by Glassnote Records with two more songs. It was released on January 31 and gave Veselnitskaya her first charts, debuting at number 16 on the Top Heatseekers billboard chart. [13] They led to success at number 164 on the Billboard 200, number 3 in Top Heatseekers and number 19 in the Independent Albums chart. In support of her first edition of the label, Veselnitskaya was featured on MTV's Hear It Hear It First, Breakers of AOL Music Yahoo! Music Who's Next? [13] Second hand Serenade released only one song from the debut album Vulnerable. [14] Vulnerable reached 83 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 64 on the pop 100 and No. Twist in My Story (2008–2009) Twist in My Story was released on February 19, 2008 and includes songs from Awake such as Maybe Your Conversation, but reproduced with a full band. Members of his touring band are Steve Shebi on bass, Lucas Veselnitskaya (brother of Glee) of Keyesy, Ryan Cooke (bassist of the White Tie Affair) on guitar and Tom Brefogle on drums. The title A Twist in My Story is a reference to Veselnitskaya's 2008 divorce from ex-wife Candice. who has two young sons. [15] Veselnitskaya split with Candice in August 2007 when the songs for A Twist in My Story were created. In November 2008, the first single of the album Fall for You was certified by RIAA.
