TG4 Strikes Gold for Its Autumn Schedule
1/09/2015 TG4 Strikes Gold for its Autumn Schedule Original Drama from the Alaskan Gold Rush, Fireside chats, Music in Glens and Top-class Sport at home and abroad An entertaining and distinctive Autumn 2015 offering from TG4, announced today includes a new powerful Irish language drama series set in the Klondike Gold Rush. It also brings a fresh approach for televising traditional music and shows how our lives are still governed by folklore. We decode the secrets locked in Irish place- names and offer exciting young peoples’ programmes with a difference. There is also a mouth-watering line-up of free to view movies and a great selection of exclusive live Gaelic games, rugby and racing from the Listowel Festival. Highlights include An Klondike: A major new original 4 part drama series set in the harsh world of the gold mines of Alaska over a century ago. Three Connemara-born brothers venture from the silver mines of Montana to the Alaskan Gold Rush of 1895. They seek their fortune in Dominion Creek, a town built on greed. All that glisters… Cogar: Documentaries that concentrate on people more than on issues: Remembering a German U Boat commander’s humanitarian landing in West Kerry young film actors Judi Dench and Jeremy Irons’ bringing scandal to south Kilkenny in the 1970s, growing tomatoes to save the Gaeltacht in the 1950s, the amazing secret life of a 19th century Louth woman who spent much of her life disguised as a man in the US Army and the forgotten story of the Major-League US baseball stars whose secret code during play was simplicity itself – they were native speakers and talked Irish to one another. -

Spraoi Agus Spórt, Ceol Agus Comhluadar
EMBARGO 1pm 30/8/2016 Spraoi agus Spórt, Ceol agus Comhluadar Soláthar don uile mhian sa gClársceideal Fómhair Agus gan ach cúpla seachtain fágtha aige mar dhéagóir (beidh TG4 fiche bliain d’aois Oíche Shamhna) tá rogha fhuinniúil fhairsing ilghnéitheach ar fáil sa gClársceideal Fómhair 2016 atá seolta ag an gcainéal ag nuacht-ócáid i mBaile Átha Cliath inniu. Ar na nithe is tarraingtí den sceideal, tá sraitheanna faisnéise a thugann léargas nuálach ar ghnéithe rúnda agus folaithe de shaol na hÉireann, (scannán seanchais as Árainn i 1935 ina measc), drámaíocht nua-léirithe a leagann méar ar chuisle an phobail, rogha iontach ábhair do dhaoine óga, spórt nach bhfaightear ar aon chainéal eile agus seirbhís nuachta agus cúrsaí reatha atá éagsúil, géarchúiseach. I measc na mbuaicphointí tá: Fir Bolg: Sraithdhráma nua grinn, 6 eagrán, a thugann léargas nach bhfeictear go minic ar shaol an cheoil traidisiúnta. Más fíor an scéal, ba ghrúpa aitheanta ceoil ab ea na Fir Bolg, deich mbliana fichead ó shin. Thuill siad clú agus cáil lena linn – ach d’imigh sin agus tháinig seo. Scaradar ó chéile ach anois – agus an bunaitheoir básaithe – tá caint fúthu arís - agus airgead le déanamh. Tá cliar iontach agus pearsain aitheanta go leor sa dráma seo Hector Central: Is beag ceard den domhan nach raibh siúlta ag fear rua na hUaimhe do TG4 – ach d’éirigh le Meiriceá Láir a theacht slán – go dtí seo. Seo anois é ar ruathar ó Phanama go Belize. Go bhfóire Dia ar na daoine. Anamnocht: Cláir shubstaintiúla faisnéise uair an chloig a thugann léargas taibhsiúil dúinn ar phearsain, ar ghluaiseachtaí nó ar áiteanna, ina measc comaoin dhearmadta Frank O’Connor ar fhilíocht na Gaeilge, comóradh ar bhan- amhránaí as Oirialla a bhásaigh go hóg, saothar iontach na bhfear dóiteán nua- oilte ar an gCeathrú Rua, an Cláiríneach as Lios Ceannúir a chruthaigh an fomhuireán le cabhair na bhFíníní agus an bhanlaoch as Corcaigh a tharrtháil na céadta ón mbás le linn na cogaíochta sa Spáinn agus sa bhFrainc 80 bliain ó shin. -
