Originally retained from the UK Criminal Law Amendment Act 1885, within the Criminal Code (Chapter 154) that gov- erned the newly formed Republic of Cyprus (RoC), Articles 171 to 173 effectively criminalised and outlawed homosexu- ality and sexual acts between consenting males.1 Following the establishment of the Turkish Cypriot administration in 1975, the same criminal code was adopted without any changes into the Turkish Cypriot Criminal Code.2 In the Turk- ish Republic of Northern Cyprus3, Paragraph 154, Articles 171 1 See: Annex I. 2 See: Annex II 3 The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is only recognised by the Republic of Turkey. As the government of the Republic of Cyprus remains interna- tionally recognised as the government of the whole of the island, the entire island is now considered to be a member of the European Un- ion.     Women candidates and party practice in the UK: evidence from the 2009 European Elections Abstract Existing comparative research suggests that women candidates have better opportunities for electoral success when standing in (i) second order elections and (ii) PR elections - the 2009 European Elections provide an example of both criteria. This paper examines the 2009 results to build upon earlier work on the 1999 and 2004 elections by considering (i) regional patterns across parties, with reference to any strategies to improve women‟s representation (ii) incumbency effects (iii) effects of changes in seat shares across parties. --------- EXISTING research on previous European elections demonstrated that the willingness of political parties to place women in the top places on party lists varied, equity in terms of candidate numbers did not result in equity in representation if women languished at the lower end of party lists. Furthermore, virtually all parties failed to take advantage of their own retiring MEPs to promote women1. In the 2005 European Election it was clear that both the Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats had taken the most „positive action‟, whilst Conservative equality rhetoric had failed to materialise into notable female candidate selection, and the electoral success of UKIP served as a hindrance to female representation in general. The number of UK MEPs in total declined from 78 (three in Northern Ireland) in 2004 to 72 in 2009 (69 in Great Britain). Women constitute just under 32% of MEPs, compared to 24% as a result of the 2004 elections. The mainstream political parties in the UK foster different attitudes towards equality promotion and equality guarantees.

We work with Member States across WHO’s European Region to promote evidence-informed policy making. Ao abordar os imigrantes turcos, tem de se ter em mente que há três origens diferentes, ou seja cipriotas turcos, turcos da Turquia continental e curdos. Neste estudo, estes três tipos de imigrantes de segunda geração foram analisados e os seus problemas foram resolvidos, nomeadamente: insucesso, língua, baixas expectativas, o bullying, envolvimento com gangues, crise de identidade e questões parentais.

    UNSPOKEN Creating Dialogue on LGBTI Rights in the Turkish Cypriot Community MedyaMedia Monitoring takipReport raporu ABOUT THE PROJECT: UNSPOKEN: CREATING DIALOGUE ON LGBTI RIGHTS IN THE TURKISH CYPRIOT COMMUNITY The Unspoken Project has been implemented by the Cyprus Community Media Centre in cooperation with Queer Cyprus Association and the Thomson Foundation. This project was launched in November 2015 funded by the European Union under the Cypriot Civil Society in Action program. The Unspoken Project aimed to increase LGBTI awareness within the Turkish Cypriot community, especially in the various sectors such as media, education, law and health. The purpose was to achieve social change by combating discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation and improving levels of media coverage and public debate. A number of activities were organised within the scope of the Unspoken Project, which was a 2-year project that included billboard campaigns, public service announcements, seminars for various professional groups, attitude mapping surveys, thematic discussions, capacity building workshops, a roundtable discussion with editors, yearly media monitoring reports, a series of inclusive-reporting trainings for journalists, communication and advocacy trainings for activists, and a toolkit for media professionals, financial support for the participation at international conferences and activities for the annual pride march organised in the northern part of Cyprus. 2 ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: We, as the project team, would like to thank Boran Şenhuy,
