Faridpur District GEO Code based Unique Water Point ID Faridpur District Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) June, 2018 How to Use This Booklet to Assign Water Point Identification Code: Assuming that a contractor or a driller is to install a Shallow Tube Well with No. 6 Pump in SULTANPUR village BEMARTA union of BAGERHAT SADAR uapzila in BAGERHAR district. This water point will be installed in year 2010 by a GOB-Unicef project. The site of installation is a bazaar. The steps to assign water point code (Figure 1) are as follows: Y Y Y Y R O O W W Z Z T T U U U V V V N N N Figure 1: Format of Geocode Based Water Point Identification Code Step 1: Write water point year of installation as the first 4 digits indicated by YYYY. For this example, it is 2010. Step 2: Select land use type (R) code from Table R (page no. 4). For this example, a bazaar for rural commercial purpose, so it is 4. Step 3: Select water point type of ownership (OO) from Table OO (page no. 4) . For this example, it is 05. Step 4: Select water point type (WW) code from Table WW (page no. 5). For this example, water point type is Shallow Tube Well with No. 6 Pump. Therefore its code is 01. Step 5: Assign district (ZZ), upazila (TT) and union (UUU) GEO Code for water point. The GEO codes are as follows: for BAGERGAT district, ZZ is 01; for BAGERHAR SADAR upazila, TT is 08; and for BEMARTA union, UUU is 151. Step 6: GEO codes for SULTANPUR village, VVV is 368. Step 7: Assign 3 digits serial number (NNN). If this is the first water point installed at BEMARTA union in year 2010 then assign serial number (NNN) 1 as 001. Serial number should be used only once in a fiscal year. The second water point installed by any projects, regardless of the type, as long as it is in the same union, it will receive a serial number of 002. Images of bands 1 - 5 and 7 of Landsat 4 - 5 TM and Landsat 7 ETM+ imagery recorded in years 2001, 2005 and 2009 are classified using unsupervised classification with the technique of image segmentation. It is found that during the eight year period, paddy area increased from 30% to 37%, followed by the increase in the homestead (55% to 57%) and urban area (1% to 3%). These changes occurred at the expense of the decrease in forest land cover (14% to 3%). In the category of homestead, the presence of different kinds of vegetation often makes it difficult to separate the category from paddy field, though paddy exhibits accuracy of 93.70% - 99.95%, which is better than the values for other categories.

    Bangladesh Rice J. 21 (2) : 157-172, 2017 Diversity of Cropping Patterns and Land Use Practices in Faridpur Region A B M Mostafizur1*, M A U Zaman1, S M Shahidullah1 and M Nasim1 ABSTRACT The development of agriculture sector largely depends on the reliable and comprehensive statistics of the existing cropping patterns, cropping intensity and crop diversity of a particular area, which will provide guideline to policy makers, researchers, extensionists and development workers. The study was conducted over all 29 upazilas of Faridpur region during 2015-16 using pre-tested semi-structured questionnaire with a view to document the existing cropping patterns, cropping intensity and crop diversity of this area. From the present study it was observed that about 43.23% net cropped area (NCA) was covered by only jute based cropping patterns on the other hand deep water ecosystem occupied about 36.72% of the regional NCA. The most dominant cropping pattern Boro−Fallow− Fallow occupied about 24.40% of NCA with its distribution over 28 out of 29. The second largest area, 6.94% of NCA, was covered by Boro-B. Aman cropping pattern, which was spread out over 23 upazilas. In total 141 cropping patterns were identified under this investigation. The highest number of cropping patterns was identified 44 in Faridpur sadar and the lowest was 12 in Kashiani of Gopalganj and Pangsa of Rajbari. The lowest crop diversity index (CDI) was reported 0.448 in Kotalipara followed by 0.606 in Tungipara of Gopalganj. The highest value of CDI was observed 0.981 in Faridpur sadar followed by 0.977 in Madhukhali of Faridpur.

Introduction To describe and interpret the linguistic situation in Northern India1 in the second and the early first millennium B.C. is a difficult undertaking. We cannot yet read and interpret the Indus script with any degree of certainty, and we do not even know the language(s) underlying these inscriptions. Consequently, we can use only data from * archaeology, which provides, by now, a host of data; however, they are often ambiguous as to the social and, by their very nature, as to the linguistic nature of their bearers; * testimony of the Vedic texts , which are restricted, for the most part, to just one of the several groups of people that inhabited Northern India. But it is precisely the linguistic facts which often provide the only independent measure to localize and date the texts; * the testimony of the languages that have been spoken in South Asia for the past four thousand years and have left traces in the older texts. Apart from Vedic Skt., such sources are scarce for the older periods, i.e. the 2 millennia B.C. However, scholarly attention is too much focused on the early Vedic texts and on archaeology. Early Buddhist sources from the end of the first millennium B.C., as well as early Jaina sources and the Epics (with still undetermined dates of their various strata) must be compared as well, though with caution. First page focus on qualitative information and second page on figures) Reporting Sub Office: Jessore Hazard (Flood/Cyclone etc.): Flood Reporting Date: 08.08.07 Reporting Period: 6-7 August 2006 Overall Summary: (Overall synopsis of the situation combining qualitative and quantitative information, disaster trend deteriorating or improving, overall coordination etc.) • Overall situation in Rajbari, Faridpur, Shraitpur, Madariprur and Magura is deteriorating day by day new areas such as Barisal, Gopalganj inaundedted by flood water. • In Shariatpur 72%, Faridpur 53%, Madaripur 42%, Rajbari 27% and Magura 32% of the total areas severely affected by the flood where 29%, 30%, 51%, 52% and 37% of the population affected respectively. • Disaster control room opened in all district and upazila headquarters. District and Upazila disaster management committees are working efficiently and maintained liaison among the other partners. • The District Disaster Management Committee of Madaripur and Shariatpur have generated local fund for relief activities. This fund collected from different professional groups, elite persons and others. • Advisors of central Government already have visited in Rajbari and Faridpur district. Honorable President has planned to visit Shariatpur district today. Prevailing Situation: (Precise and focused description on what occurred, when occurred, how the event has negatively impacted the lives/livelihoods of the populations and WFP beneficiaries, coping capacity, crops, assets, cattle/poultry, infrastructure etc. Please also articulate gender related information i.e. special needs for the women etc.) • Prevailing flood situation created by heavy rainfall in mid-July and upstream water.
