When Robert Zemeckis' classic begins, the opening scenes are dedicated towards establishing the friendship between Michael J. Fox 's high school teenager and Christopher Lloyd's endearing mad scientist. Back To The Future 's story begins proper when Doc, who Marty hasn't seen for a week, instructs his young friend to meet him at the Twin Pines Mall later that night. In a conversation that has since been indoctrinated into movie legend, Doc Brown reveals that he built a time machine out of a DeLorean and the duo need to take this contraption for a test drive while avoiding a band of angry Libyan terrorists. As anyone would be in his Nike sneakers, Marty is shocked at Doc's time-bending breakthrough, and even more surprised that journeys through the continuum will be Back to the Future: Continuum Conundrum in such style. Marty and Jennifer investigate in and it's actually Jennifer who deducts that if Marty didn't see Emmett building the DeLorean, he must have a secret lab tucked away somewhere. Marty's girlfriend is proven right when the duo discover a building registered under Doc Brown's birth name, "Von Braun. Furthermore, Bob Gale's involvement in the comic project ensures that Doc Brown's second lab is entirely canon. In this one Doc is working on his time train and ends up in Marty's time but has lost his memory. Even having read the preceding entry it felt like some material had been skipped, but after getting past that and the unrepresentative art the story is serviceable time travel stuff. I was so glad to see a long enough story that covered 6 issues because there was so much going on it would not have been fair to tell the story in 4 or even 5 issues like most volumes. I want to just explain one "spoiler" that I feel should sort of be mentioned in order for some of Back to the Future: Continuum Conundrum to make sense. At the end of the third movie, we see Doc and the family arrive in with a flying train time machine. So this story actually takes place one year later, in I found this to be very entertaining. So this story actually takes place one year later, in In a way, this story takes place prior to that event in the third movie because this story, in part, tells how Doc Brown obtains the technology to make the train work. I guess it can be somewhat confusing but it does help explain how on earth the train was so futuristic. I would recommend this story to all fans of the series. I feel it is well written and, I feel, it helps add to the sense of adventure we saw in the films. It has constant skips through Back to the Future: Continuum Conundrum times and the story definitely has a lot of heart. Do you want more adventures of "Back in Time"??? This is your comicbook!!! Still delivered in the "what the s thought the s would look like" aesthetic, but with more millennial hipster jokes. Keeping stars for the art fails tho. Action scenes ge woooh boy, instead of one-shots the series now does multi-issue story arcs! Action scenes get confusing the way the panels are laid out. No, it's not essential, and the emotional stakes aren't at near the same level as the movie, and it's open to how well the art captures the characters. Nevertheless, this is a good time and worth a read for fans of the series. A big improvement on the first volume. A nice stop to BTTF's universe. I am very excited about this project since it is written by Bob Gale and every detail of the movies is well taken care off. This second arc has been delightful, the art is good; however Marty looks with more muscles, when he really was an average guy. Spite of minor details, the artist make a good job and is a good introduction to Back to the Future: Continuum Conundrum BTTF's adventures. A must have for hardcore fans. Namely, it turns a brilliant, straight-forward concept into a convoluted mess of alternate timelines and weak storytelling. We visit new timelines and Jennifer is a much more useful character than Back to the Future: Continuum Conundrum films. Definitely worth a read if you're a fan.
